Now, I don't mean to tempt any of you guys, but for those who wanna see the intro, here it is.Just wanna say that I wish I didn't break down and watch it. This is a very very very very VERY awesome thing to not know about when you first play the game. Especially if you're really into the Metroid storyline. EDIT: Well, it's down now. No intro for you.

Very good intro while it was up. Love the letimof played with a certain character with Samus, and the graphics are wonderful, looking realistic in a way unlike Metroid Prime. I'm reminded of Brawl with Samus' design, as well as Prime 3... though that is not the Zero Suit, or at least not the same one.
Voice acting for Samus fits her perfectly, but fitting with what RMC of GoNintendo said, the other voices are blah. "Samus, go through that dore".

Yeah, I'm kinda liking Samus' VA, although that one line during the fight scene sounded... off, to me. Not the line itself, but, as RMC also pointed out, the way it was said. Just seemed out of character, but I'm nitpicking.
And, uh, just gonna throw this out here. I thought Samus' hips seemed unnaturally wide. But that's probably just me.

Samus is a less vulgar Ripley so I thought her lines sounded perfectly fine. Especially TIME TO GO.

An official trailer was released. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYGJJTvuyNoI just love the design of Daiban in this trailer, and Adam looks so badass in the monochrome scene. Perhaps the most interesting however is that its rated 16+ in Europe. In Japan it might get one of those new black boxes.

I now present, the teaser site. The translation of the voice-over is as follows: "A dream. It's as if I was watching a playback of a tragedy that really happened."Huh...this feels different from any other Metroid game to come before, and I'm kind of excited about it. It casts off a JRPG vibe, with the walking into the sunset and reminiscing about the past; even though my relationship with JRPGs is strenuous, I'm eager to see how well this applies to Metroid. And I also have to remind myself that this is done by a development team that's drastically different from Nintendo's in-house guys and Retro Studios. >_> I'm looking forward to where this goes! Did I really say that? Ugh, hindsight, you are a cruel mistress. -_-; I have absolutely no love for what they're doing with Samus here, turning her into a typical emofag JRPG protagonist. I'm still interested in this for its gameplay, but I get the feeling I'll wind up striking this game from my personal canon. I like my Samuses to be blank slate, plz.

Samus has always been an adventurer. She was raised by the Chozo to be battle-ready after her family was slaughtered, she worked with the Galactic Federation and then as a bounty hunter where she kills for money. She is then sent to wipe out an entire species.
After the horrors she's seen, the atrocities she has committed... emofag reeeeeally doesn't seem to fit.

I mean, my interpretation of Samus isn't one where she's all cold-hearted or trigger-happy, and I'm sure what she's done has some weight for her, but I really doubt she's a whiny JRPG hero. And from what I understand, a lot of Samus' angst has to do with the death of her parents...parents who died before she was cognizant enough to know who they were. Wasn't she a baby at the time, if the bonus endings for Metroid: Zero Mission had any truth to them?

I still maintain her parental-angst is tied exclusively to Team Ninja's shitty storytelling.

Well, seeing as she's gone through all that shit, I can understand why she's feeling this way. But it's been established long before this that her parents were murdered, and we can go fine knowing that without it coming off as some sort of JRPG, as you said. Rest assured, I still remain iffy about this approach.
Oh, let's not forget about that other woman towards the end of the first trailer.
Whatever her role may be, I KNOW that there's something mighty spoiler-y about this character...

Well she's gotta have some angst right? It makes sense. Of course I'm sure they'll over do it.
Also the dialog sounds stupid. Eh but that always happens when you dub something from Japan, you get something quite narmy.
Something that's bugging me though, in this game (from what I read in the walkthrough) the Federation members don't respect her... If I read that correctly. However in Prime 3 they idolize her.
I have a feeling this game will cover all of Samus' past except the Prime series. Not even a little mention.
