Sorry, Fry - I did read your post, and unfortunately this time I just didn't have it in me to take you to the fencing grounds over it, as we do whenever the subject of the game comes up regardless of context (for instance, rather than debating the game's overall quality, it would have been about the necessity of its story, and then address the issue with story in games as a whole). There wasn't any point because I agreed start to finish! SPM's story lent itself to the game's par-ness, as much as I like it XD Tei the Spiffy: Wahaha! I didn't even mention Popeye! Proof that you didn't read my post. *totally deadpan* You caught me. Congratulations. Have a Drain-O Cookie on me.

To say, if this is real, that hedgehog had better have a DAMN good reason to be in Mario's universe like "I was already there" and not some stupid "I got sucked through a portal into another dimension" shoehorn. And he'd better not speak. Lord knows his voice is obnoxious.
I'd be a real peach in Sonic's universe, wouldn't I? "Sonic's the name--" "Don't speak. Your voice is irritating."

Is it just me, or does anyone else hate how Wario developed into his own canon. Why isn't he associated with Mario games anymore? I want playable Wario and Waluigi in Galaxy 2. I wouldn't complain is Sonic did end up playable (unique controls vastly different to the useless playable Luigi in the first Galaxy) but give me a Mario adventure game starring both Wario and Waluigi and it will be the best Mario game...in the galaxy.

Well, Wario is in Mario Party and Mario Kart...at least, until relatively recently (if even that)

Are you kidding? The fact that Wario has evolved into his own character, rather than rotting in the doldrums of mostly-quirkless characters in the Mario Universe is awesome. It's a mark of how awesome and well-received the character is. Yeah, a playable Wario would be epic in Mario Galaxy 2, but it's probably not going to be.
(On that note, I always said that Yoshi being acknowledged as his own franchise in the SSB games was a complete joke because he's still so closely tied into the Mario universe. How many Yoshi games have Mario or Mario characters in predominant roles? Most of them, if I recall. Even Yoshi's Story had Baby Bowser in it.)
As for Sonic in SMG2...we'll see. The pair definitely deserve a far more epic crossover than a shitty party shovelware game, but that would require Nintendo and Sega having the sense to make a title like that. >_> (HAL labs and Sakurai clearly have this sense.)

What I'd REALLY like is if Wario and Yoshi got 3D adventures of their own (yes, as much as I liked Wario World, it wasn't really much of an adventure).

Yoshi needs to lose the Mario Bros. and just have a game where Kamek attacks him for other reasons, or even a tie-in like "The babies are now safely with their parents, so Yoshi can live a peaceful life, until, that is, Kamek sets out on a revenge attack!" And then have a bunch of these Kamek means business games where, shock, new scheme. Wario needs to piss off one person and get a permanent nemesis. I vote Syrup, because a) she's his oldest enemy, b) she's got the perfect personality for Wario's nemesis, and c) she's hot.

No, Yoshi needs to have more games NOT set in Mario's past. Tetris Attack is a fine example of it done right (even though it's a entry in the Panel de Pon series and not an actual platformer). Bowser Jr. could easily function as his respective arch-nemesis in reference to Baby Bowser.

To be fair, that'd keep the tie. Remember, Junior's still a Mario character. What's more, Baby Bowser's not Yoshi's nemesis even now. He's just a spoiled brat. Kamek's doing all the kidnapping, preparing the Baby Shaker, and so forth. And because Yoshi's helping Mario (even if just to get him safely home and away from him,) Kamek's got reason to antagonize the dinosaur. On a personal note, I'm a bit annoyed Yoshi's still raising the kids. I mean, they're not even his, and he's raising them. It's like, why aren't the adults a pair of tribal warriors with spears and grass skirts? That'd make alot more sense given the amount of work the jungle-dwelling Yoshis put into their childhood.

Oh dear. I wouldn't trust NGamer as far as I could throw them, ladies and gentlemen. Take this with a heaping dose of salt. As for the rest of it... Wario has split his series into the Wario Land and WarioWare games, while Yoshi's Island has also gone off on a tangent. The key difference between these two is that the first was created by Nintendo RD1, and the second by Nintendo EAD, so elements from Yoshi's Island are significantly more likely to make it back into mainstream Mario games (and indeed they have), while Wario Land elements are relegated to cameos and spinoffs (with Wario himself occasionally being allowed out to play, as in Super Mario 64 DS). But why would the Wario series having its own identity be a problem? Or indeed Yoshi's Island, Super Princess Peach or Luigi's Mansion? Why should they all "aspire" to be Super Mario games rather than try something new? As for Yoshi's Island... why does it matter when it's set? How would that impact on the gameplay? Get the basics right and then work around it. I swear, if fans were allowed to make games, I'd give up gaming forever

In my case I just don't want the next possible Yoshi game to center around baby-switching again. I've HAD it with Mario babies.
Like I said, what I REALLY want is a Yoshi platformer in 3D. They could even use the same pointer mechanic from SMG for throwing eggs.

I've HAD it with Mario babies. The babies are demon spawn. I guess the most tolerable is Baby Luigi, but even then they need to stop existing. >_> Oh dear. I wouldn't trust NGamer as far as I could throw them, ladies and gentlemen. Take this with a heaping dose of salt. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw, say, Baby Daisy. ;D
