Because this thread needed to happen.
So it looks like SMG1 with new levels and Yoshi. I can totally roll with that.
Though i'm still a bit surprised this happened at all. Why couldn't we have Sunshine 2 dammit?

I was really surprised that Mario finally got a sequel to a non-spin-off game on the same console since SNES! I really enjoyed the first game so I welcome this game with open arms.

Well it's been confirmed that SMG2 will consist of 90-95% new content, the other 5-10% will be some SMG levels returning with new objectives to do. No hint on what levels could be returning though.

I bet you it'll be Honey Bee Galaxy and some other. Maybe Dreadnought or Melty Molten. Most likely Good Egg will return too, since it is possibly the most well known level.
*crosses fingers for Toy Time Galaxy*

and youre always retarded.
I don't know if it will be better than SMG1, which so far, to me, is the game of the generation (oh my god thats positive), but I don't care, because I'm pumped anyway (oh my god thats positive again), seeing as, like I said, its a direct sequel to my favourite game this gen.
Day 1, implying I am so pumped I want to buy it straight away (zounds! more positivie comments!). Hell, day -1, even, implying I am so pumped to buy it I want it before its even out (zork! postivite! zoom!).
Don't question my love for Glaaxy and my eventual love for its sequels or I will be forced to crack your head open and chew on that tiny peanut in there. And this is also a positive comment,

No more Honeybee please. I don't want to see a second clone. I'm positive about this one. Will probably be better than Galaxy 1. My only concern is that I want Luigi to be playable again.

Since the Game Boy, really... and since the NES if restricting to home consoles for some reason. Yoshi's Island is only a sequel given the (long-since retconned) American subtitle. The gameplay is so different, using that criteria we might as well say New Super Mario Bros. is a sequel to Super Princess Peach.

On the flipside, this is the first time a Mario title has looked so identical to its predecessor since (the real) Super Mario Bros. 2. Usually going from one Mario to another is a fairly significant change.

It always seemed Miyamoto would only do a new Mario game if he could really mix it up with all-new experiences. He never gives the gameplay the opportunity to go stale (only storylines... arf arf).
I guess this is why he's considered a master designer, but there's only so much you can do with Mario. He's had 28 years to perfect 2D platforming, but Super Mario Bros. 3 is still widely considered the pinnacle... and 13 years to perfect 3D platforming, but with only slight variations since Super Mario 64...
I guess this is one of the benefits of taking creative control out of his hands... we might actually get more Mario games, and they will only roll Miyamoto out when the idea needs a facelift. After all, Mario sells, and proper Mario games sell more than any other... They did it with Zelda 10 years ago, and that's really paid off.

I really love Galaxy and I can't wait to play this game but I still want to see something different next time. Perhaps Mario can FINALLY return to the Mushroom Kingdom? All his 3D games have been set inside a castle, on an island, or in a surreal outer-space.
Mario Galaxy's worlds consisted of floating junk in space. There were no REAL environments like. Atleast in Sunshine you were running on rooftops, hopping on villagers, seeing homes and places. These were not giant apples or floating honeycombs.
Also each Shine mission had a story behind it and would continue the story in the next chapter.
Like the Sand Bird Saga. First you gotta get the solar panels to shine on the egg and get the huge sleeping Wiggler off, then you gotta fight the huge Wiggler, and then finally the egg hatches and you can ride on the Sand Bird. Or what about Noki Bay where you have to find out why the water is polluted etc etc...
During those times you can talk to the villagers and they'll comment on the events taking place. It was like... REAL. Galaxy was like false worlds that no one could live on.
So that was my only gripe with Galaxy, was the setting. Otherwise I'm really excited! I don't think the story will be exactly the same this time... I mean besides Peach being captured. I assume there will be something else going on.

Annotated SMG2 trailer from ONM points out all the little things that we didn't notice in it. (No point in posting it here, you can't read the notes unless you view it on the YouTube page). Miyamoto has confirmed that SMG2 will be more difficult than the original. I really love Galaxy and I can't wait to play this game but I still want to see something different next time. I never thought about SMS being more "real" than SMG until you pointed that out. Even the HoneyHive galaxy with the Bee's didn't have any houes/hives or any other dwellings on it. Also two words . . . Toad BrigadeWill they return . . . !?

I just like MORE Galaxy. That makes me so happy.
Luigi should be playable from the getgo this time, however.

Wouldn't it be nice if Toad is also playable in this game, not just NSMBWii? The Toad Brigade had a pretty major role in the first game so I thought it would be natural for the lead Toad to be playable - maybe as an unlockable character after you collect 120 stars. I'm feeling the urge to replay Super Mario Galaxy just to get more excited for the next game! Now I need to go out and get new batteries... my Wii Remote's power is running low.
