I love Jr. I think he is adorable.
Honestly, I love the Koopa Kids in a "these are characters I remember from my childhood" kinda way, but it's difficult for me to really love them because we don't really know anything about them. They even look completely different between SMB3 and SMW. I'm hoping they'll become series regulars again now, and that'll finally change.

Kuppa no Teshita does mean Underling of Koopa, this is true, but so does Koopaling. Just that Koopaling's contracted. Kuppa no Teshita may just be a Japanese way of saying "Koopaling" as "Koopaling," like how Koopa Kid is our way of saying Ko Kuppa. Just a thought.

Eh, enuffa this Koopaling identity talk, blowing it out of proportion.
It's great that the official Japanese site is up, I can't wait for more info on it, world maps and all. Just give it time, it only just launched.
Apparently, that area in the World 1 map with the Goomba roaming around the pipes appears to be some sort of "special area". Hmm...

Blah, haven't posted in awhile. But on topic, I would love to get this game. I'm a bit late in with the conversation, but do you guys think the Airship will make a return seeing as the Koopa Kids appear in there?

My personal take on whatever discrepancies occur due to translation can be summed up as such: Japan Isn't Always Right, and Not Everything From Japan Is Better. It's not like I consider Vivian from Paper Mario TTYD as male, like she is in Japan, you know? (Other good examples along the same lines: the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles anime, and Powerpuff Girls Z.) Another way I like to think of this sort of deal is Welcome To America (Or the UK, or Australia, etc.). Just because the original version is different doesn't invalidate the translation. So if NSMBWii says that the Koopalings are Bowser's kids, then in at least one version of the series, the Koopalings are Bowser's kids. To quote Captain Planet, "THE POWER IS YOURS!!!" Now if you'll excuse me, I have to put on a skintight red leotard with big holes cut out of the sides, grow a mullet, and gay the shit out of some Evil Polluters. |

Even though the Japanese version doesn't refer to them as his kids, it also doesn't explicitly say that they aren't his kids. "Ko-Koopa" does at least imply that they have to be related to Koopa aka Bowser in some way. So we can believe what we want. Especially in a series like Mario. The Blocks were first citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom cursed by Bowser's dark magic in SMB, and now they are everywhere. It's not like I consider Vivian from Paper Mario TTYD as male, like she is in Japan, you know? At least one Euro translation, the Spanish one, kept her a transvestite. Notably, it's also the Spanish Mario Smash Football website that referred to Birdo's gender issue (in case of Charged Football, even the UK English site directly addressed Birdo as a male). |

Koopaling comes from the TV show. Is that true? I'm not that well well versed with the English name of the group, but why does Mario Wiki imply that Koopalings is their actual English name while Koopa Kids comes from the cartoon show?  Also, the recently updated American website calls them Koopalings (and they lack their surnames). |
