Hey, the other two...big games got their topics right here, so why not this one.
In all honestly, I'm more set on this one than Galaxy 2. Or both, I donno.
Trailer:
What can I say? I'm a sucker for both 2D and 3D. This or Galaxy? Oh, help help!

I somehow hope they'll merge these two games in one. So that I can pay half the price for the fun.
It'll surely be some fun years from now onwards...

I loved New SMB, and I'm looking forward to this. What I'm not clear on is whether any level can be played multiplayer, or whether this is just a tiny part of a larger 1P game (much like the multiplayer in NSMB).
Most of the videos show a standard Mario game. Frankly, I'm all good... I have 2D Mario, 3D Mario and Mario & Luigi on their way. Tis a good year to be a Mario fan.

I hope the Koopas and Goombas have a very "ice" evening by being frozen to pieces. (I'm talking hockey style)

According to Miyamoto, you WON'T be able to play multiplayer over WiFi. Which is pretty disappointing. Unfortunately, no online mode in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, by the way. Miyamoto just confirmed. Wii is already being overpowered by what's happening on screen in New Super Mario Bros Wii. So no power left for online. - wii.ign.com/articles/989/989996p1.htmlIs it really that busy? More so than, say, Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

I read that earlier. I expect it's just an excuse. I can't honestly see myself teaming up with three people over the internet to play Mario.
Alternatively, it could simply be down to precision. 2D Mario games often require precision timing with very little room for error. That's not as huge a problem with something like Smash Bros., where a little lag is annoying, but not detrimental to the experience.
Or it could simply be highlighting my original theory... that it's just a short game tacked on to a regular 1-Player 2D Mario adventure. Thus reducing the desire to make it an online game, and just something you'll play when you have friends over (like Wii games have a habit of doing).

I have a feeling it will be more like Four Swords Adventure and the entire game is meant for multiplayer. The single player will somehow have a way of compensating for missing players.

Most of the video only showed Mario running about, which is what led me to believe the multiplayer is entirely option. Aside from bumping each other about and throwing each other down pits, have they shown any benefit to playing 4 player?

What?
4-player is just, you know, one way to play the game. It's not meant to played with multiplayer like Four Swords GBA.
But regardless of that, this is a major advancement. I've wanted this since 19 years ago when I first played SMB1!

Definitely something the series has been needing for a loooong time. But, like a friend said yesterday, "Hello LittleBigPlanet Mario!"

yeah, I wish we had some actual footage of the battle, I saw one video of the actual Koopa Kids, but the footage was of like 5 screens at the booth so all I could really make out was that one of the people playing was in a boss room. Do you think they're not allowed to film the bosses? As everytime the people playing the demos get to the boss door the video switches to a different level. Anyway, I hope they release some artwork of the Koopa Kids at some point, as this is their 3d debut and the last official art of them I believe was actually from SMW. I might be wrong though.

The fact that the Koopa Kids will actually be in this game probably means we'll see them more. Why? Mario spinoffs are notoriously lazy. Since the Koopa kids will now all have 3D models lying around, it'll be easier to export them into other games.
