Maybe that will actually happen. Peach could be some sort of bonus character, Luigi being one in New Super Mario Bros. Does anybody know how do players choose who to play as anyway? In the footage from the E3 they focused the players instead of the screen when they were preparing. Except that Luigi is playable from the start in New SMB DS. I don't think you can choose characters in the demo version. Say, Brawl has 35 sets of characters, but only 13 were playable in a playable demo before. Does that mean the final priduct will only have those? They ride Yoshis in the trailer, will we see that kind of... ability? ^_^ We did. Red Yoshi is confirmed to spit fire, so let's say the SMW abilities are back.

In some of the E3 videos, the multiplayer parts had a menu where you selected which levels to play. This further confirms my suspicion that the multiplayer component is not the main game, and that there will only be a handful of multiplayer stages.
So it doesn't bother me that it's two Toads instead of Toad & Peach or whatever. As cool as it would be, if they didn't also bestow the classic SMB2 moves then people would complain anyway.
And it looks good. Like a hi-def Super Mario World! ;D

This further confirms my suspicion that the multiplayer component is not the main game, and that there will only be a handful of multiplayer stages. Did anyone play single player at E3 then? I mean surely the single player had only a menu too, as it was a demo. I'm sorry Fry but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I really think that the whole game is playable in multiplayer. For one thing it's the main thing they've shown with the game, and talked about. Secondly it was said somewhere (I admit I don't know my source, I think it was Gonintendo) that it has drop in drop out gameplay, so when your playing alone, and someone wants to join in, they just pick up a controller and join, arcade co-op style. Thirdly almost all major game media has been saying that the whole game's got multiplayer available (eg. uk.wii.gamespy.com/wii/super-mario-wii-2/). Finally and most importantly it's been said in an interview www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/article.php?id=9223 that Miyamoto's always strived to have multiplayer in the Mario games, but if this is just a side mode then why would he be saying that he feels he's finally been able to make the experience he wants? I know none of this is definitive proof, and people had 'evidence' every five minutes for what character they believed was going to be in brawl etc, but I really don't see why they'd try to make a small side multiplayer mode the main selling point of the game.

One of the official art for NSMBWii - the one with Luigi hanging onto Toad as they spin - reminds me of that move from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, I forgot what its called but the idea seems alike.

This game should be entirely multiplayer. They wanted to add the "jump in any time" feature akin to most Arcade games, so that for me rings true of a game that can be played fully by 1-4 players.

If only I can actually draw! In some of the E3 videos, the multiplayer parts had a menu where you selected which levels to play. This further confirms my suspicion that the multiplayer component is not the main game, and that there will only be a handful of multiplayer stages. It's a demo, not the final game. And demos are supposed to be only partially-playable.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eiOPrY-_5I it's confirmed at 05:48 that the whole game will be playable in multiplayer. Pretty long video, I thought they might of shown the Koopa Kids, but no sign in that video. Pretty awesome that Yoshi has the original whistle sounds as opposed to his newer voice (not that I don't like his newer voice) I'm warming up to the two Toads, I mean sure it will be cool if there are unlockable characters, but it will pretty cool to actually have some Toads fighting back for once lol.

I'm really hoping they soften Toad's voice, if they are playable all the way through. Anyone remember how utterly devastating he was to Super Mario Advance? I love that... "Yoshi's new voice"... New for 12 years. He's had his Kazumi Totaka voice for longer than he had his wheezy voice

Observation: Red Yoshi + Sheel ≠ Fire!? For the first time of Mario history, penguins do attack! All other games show harmless penguins (well, Bumpties don't do damage upon contact, yea?)

I was just thinking today: there are two totally serviceable Toads to use in this game. Why the hell can't Blue Toad be SMB2 Toad and Yellow Toad be Toadette? Eh? EH?! EHHHH?!
...I STILL don't get the logic for this game

EHHHH?! ...I STILL don't get the logic for this game At least it's better than Mario Bros in Super Mario Advance series: regular Mario, green Mario, yellow Mario and blue Mario. That's what I call strange. And remember, the golden rule of Mario series: Spinoffers shall stay spinoff. They may get in an RPG or another spinoff, but never a main series platformer or 3D adventure. Let's see when will they finally break this rule.

The Angry Video Game Nerd played the game at E3 and shares his thoughts about it. NEW SUPER MARIO BROS Wii – Of all the games I played at E3, this is the one that I had the most fun with. It’s in the style of “New Super Mario Bros” on DS, except it’s an all new game. It resembles Smash Bros from afar. But it’s very different. It’s simply a sidescrolling Mario game with 4 players at the same time. This means you all compete for coins and powerups and be a total dickhead toward’s the other players. It’s similar to the original “Mario Bros” arcade how you can get the other player killed, but just amplify that a million times. Say for example, the other player is trying to jump a pitfall. You can jump on top of their head and make them fall. It’s an asshole game! And that makes it fun. They should just call it “Super Mario Bros: Asshole”.
