What really threw me off was how they said this game will be released "on the holiday".
Sometime in December? Could even be November or October, if possible, for all I know!
Don't ever torment me like that again with date of release, you bastards.

According to my Internet research, in America, "holiday" without specifications means Christmas.
So yeah, it's December. Plus a delay, and it'll be 2010.

Most of the time, NOA releases "holiday" games in November. Somewhere around Thanksgiving, so like.. end of November. That way folks can pick it up at least a month before Christmas. As far as whether this game will be out by then, I don't doubt it. It sounds/seems pretty complete and, by Nintendo's newer standards on game announcements, if they said it existed it is probably in testing stages or close to it. ...TOAD AND TOADETTE, DAMNIT >

And one thing to keep in mind: The faster this one come out, the longer the wait for Galaxy 2.

And one thing to keep in mind: The faster this one come out, the longer the wait for Galaxy 2. Uh... what? No. If NSMB Wii fell into 2010 (it wont, but if it did), Galaxy 2 would be pushed back into the second half of 2010. Without the delay, NSMB Wii will be out November. This will allow Galaxy 2 for about April/May. Its pretty obvious.

...These two games are not by the same team, making the release date relationship not as direct as 1-to-1.
And by "2010" without anything said I already assumed "31 December 2010".

This is definitely coming out this year. How the hell can it not? Even if they do delay, wtf else is Nintendo releasing for Wii?
Galaxy 2 is definitely next year; didn't Shiggy say it could be out THIS year, but they're holding back to not release two Mario games against each other?

Exactly. Nintendo don't want to launch two proper Mario titles in one short period, they have said as much. And NSMB will launch the first of the two, hence my predictions earlier.

...TOAD AND TOADETTE, DAMNIT > This is the most dilusional case of fan-denial I've ever encountered, ever (to people crying out for "Toad" in general, not just you, Flip). Super Mario Bros. 2 came out over two decades ago. That is the first and last time "Toad" appeared in a mainstream Mario game; since then, that unique Toad has only appeared in party-style games (Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, etc.) and spin-offs of dubious quality. "Toad" hasn't been in a proper Mario game since 1988, and I don't think Nintendo's in a rush to bring him back into the fold. XD EDiT: Not to mention that there have been multiple Toads in a single game bearing the red spots+blue vest color scheme - Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario spring to mind right away. "Toad" is just a glorified illusion. XD

TEi forgot about Wario's Woods. On the bright side, at least having the blue and yellow Toads be playable is decent enough explanation for how ordinary Toads have been able to catch up with Mario in previous games. Like how the Toad Birgade made it through the Sweet Sweet Galaxy or how that one Toad somehow made all the way to the end of Smithy Factory in order to set up shop. Having other characters besides Mario and Luigi bash blocks and use power-ups also heavily evokes the SMB Super Show, if I might add.

TEi forgot about Wario's Woods. TEi did no such thing ;D that unique Toad has only appeared in party-style games (Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, etc.) and spin-offs of dubious quality.[/i][/u][/quote] You know, thinking about it, it's kind of funny how many grades of Mario games there are; usually, when a franchise comes along and becomes large enough to generate spin-off titles, it's a very stark contrast - the mainstream games are fantastic, and the spin-offs are God-awful. (The inverse could also apply, I guess, but I haven't encountered a series like that personally.) Mario is one helluva exception to that rule; you have the mainstream Mario games (Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy and so on), you have the Mario Kart series which is mostly delicious racing fun (Super Mario Super Circuit sticks out as the only slacker), the sports titles (Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Basketball) that have a 20-80 chance of being okay but are generally frustrating despite their quality, Mario Party (which is hasn't been any good since the first one, I don't care how many blisters I had to suffer for it), the 'side quest' Mario games (Luigi's Mansion, Super Princess Peach, NSMB) which generally rock out with their cocks out, and Mario RPGs which have been nothing short of fucking amazing from start to finish. It just goes to show how big Mario is, having such a varied game life. I concur! I like the concept of other Mario characters using traditional Mario power-ups (we got close to that in Paper Mario: TTYD with the Bowser side-scroller bits), and one of my favorite moments in SMB Super Show was when Toad got a Fire Flower power-up. XD
