Its funny TVEye. I thought this E3 proved that Nintendo still cared for the hardcore. With Metroid Other M, Galaxy 2, and the promise of a new Zelda. It seems silly to get all upset at Nintendo because of this one thing.
Its like you completely forgot all the good things the Wii has to offer. So many gamers are blinded to these things. It make me sad.

I stand by TVEye's annoyance, and mainly because he has every right to be annoyed. I'm annoyed, too. Outside of Brawl, I didn't buy a single game Nintendo made last year. There wasn't any damn thing I wanted. And thus far, I haven't this year, either (I would like the new Fire Emblem, though). I'm glad Nintendo woke up and remembered that they do have their hardcore fans. I'm tickled pink there's a new Metroid game (although I am cautious about it), that a new Zelda is on its way for the Wii (and will be built for it from the get-go), the new Prof. Layton is coming, and that there's two new Mario games on deck. But the fact remains that Nintendo's merely dangling a "look, hardcorers, it's-a me, Mario!" bone to us while sneaking in the casual "Touch Generations Demo Makes Game Overs a Thing of the Past - No More Fail!" garbage. If I want to have a game be played for me, ...well, I don't. I'll stop playing games first. That's not why I play them. I play them to have fun, to gain joy, to be blown away, and to have experiences I can not gain from normal life. As Fry put it, this Demo mode is like a Get Out of Jail Free card that strips out any sense of challenge and panders to the demographic that MARIO ISN'T EVEN AIMED FOR. It's not helping raise gamers like us, who can handle some losing and disappointment (which becomes a huge reward when conquered, as TEi mentions). It's cheating gamers out of that potential, and I don't like it.
See ya when you get back, Teev. We'll miss ya.

...Nothing personal, but I'm not entirely bothered by it myself. I know, it does sound really stupid, but it's still a simple option that should hopefully be hidden away in some menu elsewhere. Anyone who dares try to put it to use whenever: Big time. ... Okay, maybe not. I'll just keep anyone who tries it off of playing it whenever around me. Not such a deal to me because I know I won't touch it anyhow.

Anyway, I just hope the actual marketing campaigns won't be all about how you can use this 'great' new feature.

Punch-Out!! didn't appeal to any of you, huh? Geez, I thought that was classic enough. No aim at family fun there.
Let him be, it's his choice. If you chain yourself to Nintendo you will stay here miserable. If angry you don't have to support Nintendo constantly. Taking a break can clear your mind.
I think Nintendo's series are fine right now for the MOST. I think Nintendo's focusing too much on what is so called "hardcore", and what's not. It's annoying and now everything feels labeled. But second party stuff is great right now.

That's not the point. This whole "appealing to the casual audience" thing has gone too far. I'm not the kind of douchebag that leaves NinDB for some minuscule bullshit like thores and Smashchu did, but I feel like taking a hiatus because I get ridiculed for speaking my mind. So...um. Yeah. Whoa, I remember how thores left but Smashchu didn't have a reason for leaving did he? He just left (and he returned once) without explanation. What was the story with thores again? I didn't know him that much.

I didn't know him that much. Somebody spoiled pretty much all of MOTHER 3 almost right after Fry removed the "Don't spoil MOTHER 3" rule, and at first he was mad about that, but then he just realized that he didn't have that much interest vested in this place to begin with. I can understand that. ...Okay, yeah, I'm taking a NinDBreak too, I think. Between that bit of cuteness and dealing with Koopaul, I'm feeling severe negative karma. BBL, doods.

I just finished my long, unannounced hiatus... so I'm good. Gimme awhile and I'll get bored and stop posting again.

...Okay, yeah, I'm taking a NinDBreak too, I think. Between that bit of cuteness and dealing with Koopaul, I'm feeling severe negative karma. BBL, doods. Cya TEi. I agree with you. I came here so I could get away from people becoming fanboys etc and either hating on me as I still like Nintendo, or others who shoot down every valid reason that people get annoyed with Nintendo (such as Koopaul's been doing.) which makes the hatred between both sides of the fence seem to grow and grow. I remember actually on my countries Official Magazine forum where basically every single topic on the first page of the forum was 'Nintendo failing us?' 'NINTENDO SUCKS!!!!1111' 'WHY I SOLD MY WII A YEAR AGO AND NOW PLAY AN XBOX 360!!111' If you dared to make a topic about any game that was recently announced, the same thing would always follow. First people would post things such as, 'looks crap, this is why I sold my Wii last year and got an XBOX/PS3 to avoid all the shitty Wii games.' Followed by others coming on and flaming them, the topic of the actual game was usually forgotten after the first post. My point (if I have one) is that this forums still much better than that, but I wish people would just let others have thier opinions. I mean if TV says that he's not impressed by any of the games on show then he's not. It doesn't mean we need to start telling him to 'GROW THE FUCK UP' or that E3 was for the Hardcore this year so he should be happy about all the games. This topic was meant to be about NSMBW, and I think the last post about the actual game which wasn't about this new demo play feature was about 2 pages ago.

When the fucktards get louder, the good people leave...
TV Eye is justifiably angry about this. Nintendo has been tickling the balls of non-gamers, and now that ball-tickling is leaching into gamer-games. We all grew up playing games, getting stuck, and overcoming the challenge.
The annoyance is about the principle of "demo play", about the direction Nintendo is taking gaming... and about why they would allow such a thing to appear in such a mainstream videogame.
On an unrelated note... If TV Eye and Tei are genuinely leaving, I will gladly ban-hammer anybody to get them back. They're two of my favourite members here. Take note, the rest of you!

I have to say that I think leaving over this is pretty stupid. Its an option, that, theoretically, could lead to harder games as much as it 'tickles the balls of non-gamers' or whatever it is supposedly doing (you could make ridiculously hard challenges, and let the shitty non-gamers have the game complete it for them, instead of just removing any challenge entirely because they wont be able to handle it). Plus, how cool would it have been to have this to get past those exceedingly shit parts of otherwise good games? Super Paper Mario's stupid hamster wheel shit, Wind Waker's fucking ridiculous triforce fishing quest - never having to play these sounds great.
That being said, I fully support Teev's and TEi's decisions if its because this place is overrun by fuckwits, like it is these days. Don't leave me with them, dudes. Take me with you. Me, and the other good people. We'll form our own tribe.

Having demo play beat shitty parts of otherwise good games sounds good, but it would be better to just... you know... not put shitty parts in good games? I expect you will be able to have three computer controlled opponents in the game, and this is an extension of that idea. I also expect in such a case, a player can simply come in and take over any other computer player. It's too early to really rag on the idea yet, and it could still go either way. In principle it's a bad idea, and how they've sold it makes it sound really quite bad... but there's some potential. What if you can drop out of one character and play as another? Possibilities for puzzles open up in that case too.
