You know, I'm kinda surprised Nintendo hasn't used those FDS text adventure games for the DS. The DS is perfect for the text adventure genre. It would have been fun playing Shin Onigashima, Yuu Yuu Ki, and Tantei Club. Today American gamers are probably more open to the Japanese culture than 30 years ago so what's keeping Nintendo from reviving those games? QFT! ....

I would be keen to see a complete remake on DS of both Shin Onigashima and Yuuyuuki. The menu and options appear on the touch screen. The "scenes" are fully animated in 3D on the top screen, perhaps stylised to look like old Japanese illustrations (think Okami). Conversations are carried out with expressive, animated characters over the top of the top screen.
And, of course, I'd love to see them both localised into English ;D
But I agree, there's a lot more acceptance of things that are Japanese these days - and hey, Journey to the West (the story Yuuyuuki is based on) is one of the best known of all the Japanese folk tales around the world.
