Dasher, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree, but I will have to correct you on one point: The Phantom Blot isn't just a "plain thief". He's a narcissistic madman who will stop at nothing to prove his power and has made designs to out and out conquer the world several times.

I like the general design. If it were less cartoony, it wouldn't feel quite as Disney, but if it were more, it wouldn't feel as dark. It seems like a good middle-ground, even and especially with the out-of-date models.

As is often the case, the game should look much better in motion than in still screenshots. Check out this demo from Warran Spector's press conference to see how they've authentically recreated Mickey's movements from the old cartoons. The video was part of a GamesRadar article titled 11 things you NEED to know about Epic Mickey.

The presentation by Warren just makes me want to meet him all the more, get him to sign my Mickey Mouse platinum DVDs. Get an Oswald one to get signed too, just everything. He's great, and bringing up the Toy Story question of "What a toy wants" and helping out bosses... I love him.
I'll love all the Mickey choices (the 20's Scrapper, 30's Hero, modern neutral), but fitting with my favorite cartoons I'll probably be using the Hero the most. Just fits my ideals of a selfless person, and the design of him is on my personal Mickey watch so yeah.
As for Blot, I see what you're saying, but I never loved Blot in the comics. In the Mouse Works cartoons he was... okay. I like what they're doing here much more. It's what you imagine hearing the name Blot.

It just seems to me that this isn't the Blot, it's a new thing with the same name.
If it turns out there's a dogface in the center of the glob, I'll feel better about it.

The costumes seemed like a good idea at first.

I hope Pluto isn't in the game. I never really liked him or the cartoons that he starred in.

A new trailer. I like it- looks fun. Also confirms another of the classic cartoons levels- Jungle Rhythm, one of the earliest Mickey cartoons. It'll be fun seeing how they adapt this one.
The Steamboat Wilie stage shown at E3 looked heavily inspired by the Mickey Mania stage. Damn nice thing to get inspiration from:

Didn't Sony Imagesoft develop Mickey Mania? I think that dooms its chances right from the start.

Traveller's Tales were the developer, I think. And I know it was published by Capcom in Japan.

Sony Imagesof was a co developer, alongside Traveler's Tales. SEGA and Capcom published it in Japan on different systems.

Ah. Shame, I loved Mickey Mania. I never actually owned it, but I rented it every week for a while. My parents probably would've saved money if they'd just bought it for me.

Fun fact: One of the designers of Mickey Mania was David Jaffe (Twisted Metal, God of War).
I'm really glad Nintendo featured this game at their conference. Despite how "natural" a fit it may seem for the Wii, it doesn't change the fact that it's not a first-party game. It needs that "Nintendo boost."

I hated Mickey Mania (I think I felt it too difficult)... Then again I'm just now learning there was a difficulty setting in the options Epic Mickey is looking excellent... It's probably my most anticipated Wii game from the ones presented at the E3.

Though I'm not interested in anything Disney-related, I accidentally saw the trailer with one of the designers of it on G4's E3 2010 show, and I never did know that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit belongs to The Walt Disney Company. It makes me want to show this drawing to you guys. Epic Mickey reminds me of Captain Rainbow, because they are both about exploring the forgotten (but not very forgotten).

I don't know all the details, but Walt created Oswald, but he created him before he started Disney, while he was working for Universal (I think.) After leaving Universal to start Disney, Walt had to leave Oswald behind, since he created it for Universal, but Universal didn't do anything with Oswald. Recently, quite possibly so they could carry on with this game, Disney bought the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, so he is now owned by Disney.
Unless I'm mistaken.
