You should probably read the first post. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight PrincessBullet BillHead to the bottom of Lake Hylia where you will find Falbi running the cannon shop. Look closely at his right arm and you will see a picture of Bullet Bill from the Super Mario series. (submitted by Trust the Fungus)

A new game has been made available to members of Japan's Club Nintendo: Wii de Ultrahand. I'm not sure if you would count it as a cameo since the whole game is based around Nintendo's old toy, but I thought I'd mention it.

Ah. Nintendo toy made famous because of WarioWare (I think)...
So really... Nintendo really should accept membership application for those who're not in a Nintendo-enabled region.

The Ultrahand was Gunpei Yokoi's first toy made for Nintendo in the late 60's. Was made to be a big hit for the holidays, and it was a success, and lead to Nintendo doing more toys and Yokoi getting an important role in it all.
And this is really cool! I wish we'd get this stuff.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned that the World 9 map music in New Super Mario Bros. Wii contains part of the Rainbow Road theme from Mario Kart 64 (and later).
That's some tasty cameo right there!

When I first got there I thought World 9 actually WAS the Rainbow Road. Then I thought: is this the first time an area from a spinoff made it back into the mainline series...?

Well, it's World 9... and it's a rainbow star... the only clear connection to Rainbow Road is the little bit in the map theme.
But a few things from the spinoffs have been making it back into the main series lately, such as the Goomba King, homing Red Shells and now Rainbow Road.

The colour scheme looks like the more modern renditions of Rainbow Road. Not a valid cameo (because mere colour matches are shared by a lot of other unrelated stuff), but it's still an interesting point to note.
I think the cameo is too obvious and as such no one posted here as a "reminder" of sort.

I was just playing Super Paper Mario and in Chapter 2-4 in Room 04 there is an eyeball enemy that shoots lasers. The only way to defeat it is to run around the enemy a few times to defeat it. This is kind of similar to the eyeball enemy in Super Mario 64 except the eyeball shoots these bubble things out of its eye at Mario. Is this a good candidate for an in-game cameo?

No. An in-series cameo would be something like reusing sprites from a previous game while referring specifically to the earlier game.
The Mr. I homage doesn't count.

Returning enemies within the same series wouldn't count as a cameo at all, any more than Mario appearing in two games within the Super Mario series.
It's awesome when they do bring an old enemy back, but it ain't no cameo.
However, in rare instances there will be times when something migrates from a sub-series into the main series, such as the Ice Flower, which first appeared in Paper Mario, or the homing red shells which first appeared in Super Mario Kart. In these instances it's a cameo of that sub-series, and notable.
The problem with Super Mario is that we could compile a list of cameos of Super Mario Sunshine characters, locations, enemies, etc. within the rest of the Mario series, and we would have an epic (and very long) list for that one game alone. It's not out-of-the-question to one day compile such a list, but not today.
