Didn't even know there was a Nintendo Conference going on... If they charge 300 euros for the 3DS here I'm gonna be waiting until they release stuff worth buying it for. 3D remakes seem cool, but not 300+ bucks cool. Gameboy VC library sounds pretty neat, but I'm more excited about finally being able to play DSiware games on that thing - Tetsuya Nomura delivers a video message: "Starting with Kingdom Hearts, we'd like to release a number of titles on 3DS. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 3 please. That's the only Square thing I care about. Add some VS multiplayer and I'll never stop playing.

Nintendo's 3DS lineup - info blurbs, including Paper Mario. gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=137643Nintendogs + Cats Genre: Communication, Player Count: 1 -- Kittens appear in this game for the first time. You'll interact with the kittens differently from the puppies, and you'll also get to see kittens and puppies interact with one-another. Your virtual pets will lick you if you bring your face close to the screen. Pilotwings Resort Genre: Flight Action, Player Count: 1 -- This is set in the same island resort as Wii Sports Resort. You take control of your Mii and enjoy sky sports in planes, rocket belts and hang gliders. The game includes Mission Flight, which challenges you with events, and a Free Flight mode, where you freely fly through the island. Star Fox 64 3D Genre: Shooting, Player Count: 1-4 -- a 3D version of Star Fox 64. The characters now speak in full voice. The game also has auto save, and makes things easier for unskilled shooters by allowing you to retry from midpoints as much as you want. You view the action on the top screen, with the bottom screen showing character messages. Steel Diver Genre: Action, Player Count: 1-2 -- Enjoy three different types of submarine games. There's a scroll action game where you move forward while controlling the touch panel. There's an action game where you use your periscope to shoot torpedos at enemy ships. Paper Mario Genre: RPG, Player Count 1 -- The theme this time is stickers. You'll need to place stickers on the maps that float like paper crafts on the screen. The stickers are used to open up new paths. There's also a battle system where your failure or success depends on the stickers you've selected.Mario Kart Genre: Action Race Game, Player Count: TBA -- This latest entry in the Mario Kart series promises 3D visuals, and dynamic and impactful races. Yeah, it does seem rather extravagant at first glance for a handheld system, but given the technology and all that's used for it, it's understandable, if not fairly respectable in the long run. I think the Wii's initial launch price was $250. This being 50+, thus $300...Well, I'll be damned. Wonder if I'll be able to shell out enough for one when it comes around. Or just hold back for a while and wait for a price drop. In any case, I do look forward to it. The extra US$50 is just because the US Dollar is shot to pieces, though - I do believe both the Wii and now this launched at 25,000 yen.

Ah, it's out. I was at school while seeing the news.
Seems to me that 3DS looks more like a handheld counterpart of Wii than DS. With all that Virtual Console and motion+gyro sensor thing and stuff!
3DS is sold at 25000 yen, the same price as Wii at launch.
As for the games... well, new Rhythm Heaven and new Kirby. Sounds interesting. And Boo, you can't possibly think I still trust HAL, huh? Kirby games can very possibly be cancelled just less than one month before it's released, so.... just no. I'll look into that game after it's actually out.
Let's say I'm just glad to see some games with a definite release date. Really, I'm more interested in the Wii/DS lineups than the 3DS ones.

Pokemon Pinball and Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble sound like they couldn't be completely VC-fied. WarioWare: Twisted! probably could if GBA games are available.

Some new interesting info about 3DS can use it's gryo/motion sensors as a built in pedometer.
One neat feature about the Nintendo 3DS I haven’t heard talked about much is its built-in Activity Log software.
While you’re carrying around a 3DS, the portable tracks every foot step you take, presumably through its built-in accelerometer and gyroscope. It’s like Nintendo’s Personal Trainer: Walking software, but the pedometer is built in!
It’s unclear yet if Activity Log will have all the features of PT: Walking, like allowing you to set goals or upload your records online, but it will display graphs for your walks.
The software also tracks how long you’ve played your games, which I guess could be somewhat useful for titles that don’t already record this. Perhaps the portable does something interesting with this data?
If anything, Activity Log is another incentive to carry your 3DS around — that’s Nintendo’s goal with its “StreetPass” feature, its system-wide Tag mode allowing you to passively exchange data with other 3DSes for multiple games (even those not in your system at the moment).
Also official names of previously known features.
StreetPass
- final name of tag mode - exchange data with other players while in sleep mode - handled automatically - same game does not have to be in cartridge slot - StreetPass communication light in the upper right-hand side of 3DS - check your "Notification Applet" to see the kind of communication took place
Mii Studio
- Mii Studio may not be the final English name - portable Mii creation studio - more parts for customization - use your existing Miis - automatic creation features if wanted - convert Miis to QR form - QR code and Mii picture data can be sent to SD card
StreetPass Mii Plaza
- temporary name - Mii character will be exchanged with passers-by - external Miis will appear in the StreetPass Mii Plaza - Mii is shown next to an icon showing what game the Mii's owner previously playe - ind out when the StreetPass took place and how many people that person has StreetPassed with.
AR Games
- Augmented Reality - comes pre-installed with AR Games
Home Menu
- press the Home Button to quickly bring up the system's Home menu - access various hardware features - you can do this while playing a game
Nintendo 3DS Camera
- two cameras allow the system to take 3D photos - includes a variety of sound and camera functions built in - take pictures of faces using both the inside and outside camera, and then merge these into on
SpotPass
- English name for the feature "Itsunoma no Tsuushin" - 3DS communicates with Wi-Fi access points and other 3DS owners for SpotPass communications - active in Sleep Mode - auto-downloads rankings, ghost data, free software and notification - pre set the kinds of things you want transferred in this fashion - current DS Stations kiosks will be converted to full Nintendo Zones services - NTT East and NTT West team-up to give 3DS users access to WiFine access points throughout Japa - access some 2,000 access points in train stations, airports and restaurants
3D Movies
- collaborations with Fuji Television and Nippon Television - free 3D videos to 3DS devices via SpotPass - "We are hoping that it will be one of the solutions to tackle the chicken and the egg problem and become the trigger for the 3D footage business to emerge on Nintendo 3DS."

new Kirby. Sounds interesting. Speaking of the new Kirby DS game, what exactly is the deal with new Kirby games getting developed/revealed when a new Nintendo system is right around the corner? This must be like the 6th or 8th time HAL is doing this. Just asking.

Let's see...
Kirby's Adventure in the SNES era Kirby's Dream Land 3 in the Nintendo 64 era ...it's just these two. And it's actually pretty normal to continue releasing games for the previous system for quite a while, especially when the new system can play games from the old system. Look at the ridiculously long lifespan of Famicom and Super Famicom (thanks to Nintendo Power writable cartridges).
It's unlikely for a Kirby game to have high hardware requirement anyway (except maybe Air Ride, where City Trial lags even in Wii).
(It's not like I seriously think this game exists at all...)

Well, excluding the 2-4 spin-offs I'am thinking of then, there is also Kirby 64, very close to Gamecube's debut if I'am not mistaken, so I guess that makes three but you probably mean after the new system is released so in that case you are right, just two. Anyway, here is the software release date round-up for 3DS games. www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=137875SPRING 2011 Nintendogs + Cats (Nintendo) Pilotwings Resort (Nintendo) Steel Diver (Nintendo) Zelda Ocarina of Time (Nintendo) Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Capcom) Pro Baseball Spirits (Konami) Ridge Racer 3D (Namco Bandai) Samurai Warriors Chronicle (Tecmo Koei) Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (Level-5) Shanghai 3D Cube (Sunsoft) Runabout for Nintendo 3DS (Rocket Company) Cubic Ninja (AQ Interactive) Fish On (ASCII Media Works) SUMMER 2011 Earthpedia (Gakken) TBA 2011 Kid Icarus (Nintendo) Medalot for Nintendo 3DS (Rocket Company) TBA Star Fox 64 3D (Nintendo) Animal Crossing (Nintendo) Paper Mario (Nintendo) Mario Kart (Nintendo) Chocobo Racing 3D (Square Enix) Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom) Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D (Capcom) Dead or Alive Dimensions (Tecmo Koei) 3D Beauty Clock (Beauty Clock -- not officially announced) The only ones I want are all TBA. Oh well.

Here's at least 10 launch titles confrimed for the Japanese 3DS release, pretty much contains most of the spring release featured above. EDIT: List appears to be fake. (But it could be possible they could still launch with the system). Nintendo titles. * Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D * Nintendogs + Cats * Pilotwings Resort (working title) * Steel Diver 3rd party. * Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle from Level 5 * Pro Baseball Spirits from Konami * Ridge Racer 3D from Namco Bandai * Samurai Warriors Chronicle from Tecmo Koei * Super Monkey Ball (working title) from Sega * Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition from Capcom.

With an idea like this it would also motivate more people to have their 3DS on them when they go out (also for Streetpass as well).

Now all they need to do is make it a smartphone and an MP3 player and I'd finally be living the dream of only carrying a Nintendo device in my pocket!
It's called convergence, Nintendo, and it's how you screw your competitors in the handheld market! Come ooooon! I don't want an Android phone and an iPod! I want a Nintendo PhonePod DS!
