The DS has stumbled into... the Third DimensionRipped from neogaf, but pretty its gonna be pretty much everywhere... www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2010/100323e.pdfSeems to be the proper DS followup, not some Lite/DSi/XL stuff. I'm assuming it will have Pokemon Gen 5 (woo 3D!), for starters. Oh, and since I saw THIS CLEARLY FAKE, JOKE MOCKUP somewhere and liked it: ^THAT IS NOT REALLY THE CONSOLE, YOU NIMRODS^

...How much of an April Fool do we think this is? I mean the PDF being downloaded from nintendo.co.jp seems... a little more legit. I guess your ker-aaaazy images didn't help the April Foolishness of the whole thing

Yep, seen a lot of stuff about this everywhere, its real!
I'm cautiously optimistic, and very happy that they're deliberately NOT gonna be using dodgy glasses. I mean, developers have already made the following game just by cleverly using the DSi camera for face positioning:

Well ain't that just lovely! ;D
Here's hoping it also has somewhat improved graphics as well then. Because the last thing I want is some illusion where Link's angular face looks like it's gonna poke out my eyes.

I guess it's a good thing I held off on getting a DSi, then...
I dunno. I guess it's the logical Next Step for the gaming industry as graphics are as good as they're going to get.

As long as the hardware has some horsepower and there are some original games I am all aboard for this. If it has the same piss-poor processor power as the current DS I might gnaw my own face off and just go buy an iphone and be done with it.
And its been aaaaaaaages since the last DS.

OMIGAH, VIRTUAL BOY RETURNS!!!!
I mean seriously: isn't this just too much improvement? GBA slot-kill in DS Lite was too much, but now 3D-glasses?
Must cross the fingers that this is an April Fool's Joke.

Flamedude is right. DS has been re-released like, what... 5 times now? They really need to make a better system with enhanced graphics and better controls.
I'll take analog stick over touch screen any day.

Its not a DS revision, though, its a new console. In that sense, the DS Lite / DSi / XL don't count, which mean its been 6 years (side note, didn't realise it was this long), which is about right for the next gen to show up.
Rumours that have been thrown around by certain developers and the like indicate that the DS sequel would, among other things, have the 2 screens closer together, allowing them to be used as 1 big screen, have Gamecube-levels of power, would include an Acceleromator, and a few other things I've forgotten. That all remains to be seen though, but none seem particularly Farfetch'd.
And its not a goddamn April Fools joke, you dang fools. Its in Nintendo's official documents.
EDIT: The "mockup" is a joke, though. Surely you all got that. Surely. You couldn't possibly be that stupid not to realise this, could you?

I got the picture was a joke haha, I'd probaly only get the new system if a pokemon game was guaranteed to come out soon after it did. Also Serebii also reported on this too, and they didn't seem skeptical at all.

Well, the DS didn't get a legit Pokemon game until 2007, two-three years after the DS's launch.
Start at 3:01, folks. It's time for INTERMISSION IN THE THIRD DIMENSION.
