This is a picture from the magazine's site. Assuming the first one is Grass and the second one is Fire: 1. I still don't see that as a beak on the first one... I still think it looks like Celebi's head. Probably shaped like some sort of seed or fruit? 2. The second one... Maybe that's a knot rather than ears?

Interesting. The Pokemon on the far right kind of looks like a platypus.

Let's hope so, we already got an Otter Pokemon. I was kinda pissed when Piplup was announced as the other penguin.

But Psyduck / Golduck are like Platypuses (yes I know they're technically ducks, but I technically don't care, they're platypuses).

They probably ARE Platypodes. If you hack the game, you'll see they never had the Bird type, whereas all other birds did. So, they probably aren't meant to be ducks.

All the Normal/Flying-type ones? ^_^ If that Pokémon is a platypus, why would it have those ear things? A crazy beak like Empoleon's? For your enjoyment, here's a compilation of fanart by members of PokéBeach Forums.

As far as I know, yeah. All normal/flying types had bird as their secondary originally. If I had to hazard a guess, Psyduck was originally a platypus with exaggerated duck characteristics.

I hope it's a beaver! And the one on the left does just look like Celebi. If they turn it into a Banana Pokemon I'll be very happy! Maybe it could dangle from Tropius' chin! ;D

The Pokedex refers to Psyduck and Golduck as "Duck Pokemon". Psyduck doesn't look anything like a platypus. No thick coat of fur, no flat tail, and no venomous stingers on it's hindlimbs.
I mean really, if they were meant to be platypus pokemon, wouldn't they also have to be water/poison types?
Edit: Oh and ducks have three front toes. Psyduck and Golduck also have three toes.

I mean really, if they were meant to be platypus pokemon, wouldn't they also have to be water/ poison types Types aren't always that rigurous. They could as well be pure Water with Poison-type moves Other Pokémon just secrete poison without necessarily being Poison-type. Examples of this are Sandshrew/Sandslash and Umbreon. Anyway, just like in February, the leak of the next CoroCoro issue is expected to occur very soon, so be ready for them ;D

Psyduck doesn't look anything like a platypus duck. No thick coat of fur feathers, no flat tail bird-like tail, and no venomous stingers on it's hindlimbs wings. I mean really, if they were meant to be platypus duck pokemon, wouldn't they also have to be water/ poison Flying types? ...just saying, is all.

On the Duck V. Platypus... does having "Duck" in the name not count for anything?

Alright, but, aside from the duck bill, Psyduck doesn't have many platypus features either. Whatever, it's pointless to continue the argument. I still say it's a duck, though. Anyway, moving on. When are the starters supposed to be revealed?

Anyway, moving on. When are the starters supposed to be revealed? Officially, next Saturday-Sunday, with the artworks appearing in the magazine next week. However, some people are able to get the magazine ahead of time and that's how we might see scans even in a matter of hours.
