Golduck is definitely more platypus than duck, though, and if we're REALLY splitting hairs it's also meant to be a kappa *coughlombrecough*
Still, seeing a beaver OR otter OR even platypus again, esp. so soon after Buizel and Bibarel...? I really really hope that water thing is some sort of freaky fish-bear. The polar bear rumor is my favorite thus far.

Yes you'd think they'd at least wait another generation to reuse an animal idea... With the exception of the Dog and Cat.

Well, that rounded head is similar to an eskimo's hood The mix of that and animal features reminds me of the Anouki from Zelda games.

As long as they look different enough I don't see the problem of them reusing the same animals. Hell if they design one that actually looks like a rockhopper penguin then bring it on.

Haha, what are those? As expected, early scans of CoroCoro magazine's May 15th issue have surfaced on Japanese image boards and have fully revealed the three starter Pokemon of Pokemon Black and White. The rest of the magazine's pages have yet to be posted, but we'll keep on the lookout and post them as soon as they are leaked! Click the thumbnail to the right for a larger image. Thanks go to my college friend DorianBlack for the translations below.
- The region's name is "Isshu" (イッシュ) and is located very far away. One of its cities is shown in the top left of the scan.
- The main characters are older than ever before; they are not children.
- From a separate source, the Pokemon's names might be Tsutaaja (ツタージャ), Pokabu (ポカブ), and Mijumaru (ミジュマル). "Tsuta" means "ivy." "Bu" relates to "pig." "Mijuku" means "immature" and "maru" means "round" or "ball." Again, these are not the confirmed names yet. The magazine scan does not mention their names.
- So it looks like we have some sort of reptile, a fire pig, and a sea otter.
(From PokéBeach) Well, the Water one is still weird to me even after being revealed. The pig is cute, and I still don't understand the "ears". When I mentioned a knot, I though in a bandana like those the "Kindler" Trainers in Hoenn wear. I don't see any information about their types or basic moves yet unlike the case of the previous starters when first shown.

Oh, yuck. This'll probably be the first time I start with grass...
Also, I thought those trainers looked badass. It's cool they're adults. Maybe they might even implement jobs into this game...

"Jobs" can stay the hell away from my Pokemon game. XD
But! Onto the topic at hand, the Grass and Fire starters look pretty boss! (The Water starter actually does look like a strangled Bidoof that is very sad that it's been strangled, so I think I deserve some props for that one.) For the first time since Gen1 I actually like the looks of the Grass starter and can't wait to try it out. XD

As has been custom since the original Red/Blue, I love how adorable the water starter is and don't really care for the other two. I just hope it isn't totally untrainable, like Piplup

Piplup's move pool and stats were ass. XD
Oh yes, and I love the new Trainers! I didn't like DPP's or the female trainer from HGSS at all. The new guys have a much different feel - they remind me more of the 3Gen starters, only instead of being more stylized, they're more conteporary.

Look at that green thing, it's so smug ;D
I like all 3 of 'em really, but I'm gonna have to wait for their 3rd forms to show up before I make a pick since that's what I'm gonna be looking at mostly.
Hope that pig evolves into some fire ogre/Ganon shit.

Hope that pig evolves into some fire ogre/Ganon shit. I second that! Or at least some awesome monster boar like the ones in Twilight Princess. I'd also like to say that I'm finally happy with the trainer designs. The heroes look like actual people instead of a fashion show gone wrong.

Heard on some other board Tsutaaja is supposed to be a grass snake, albeit one with arms. If you look at it with that in mind, it makes sense.
Pokabu is freaking *awesome* and Mijumaru is adorable. Given his name, I'm betting he has a ball or something in his later forms. Like the rocks real otters use to break shells. Maybe he'll be water/rock.

I'm never too fond of it when they reuse animals. The fact that every new Pokemon we've seen so far (including Zoroark) is based on an animal that was made into a Pokemon before is not too promising...
Then again I'm being pessimistic.

The starters don't look to bad, and the trainers look pretty awesome. Also from NeoGAF, after someone notice the fire starter looks like the face. I hope when that pig evolves it gets some massive flaming warthog/boar tusks. Also I can't stop thinking of bacon because of the fire pig main course starter.
