For those wondering, Koopaul is talking about the names in the latest update to the official site, which happen to be the same Pokémon that were revealed together in the same first batch in Japan earlier this year (plus Gigalith). It also shows the names of the Professor and the big city, as well as a few moves, abilities and classifications of the Pokémon.   |

And I really really hope the EU release is about 2-5 days after the US release, but I'll probably be gnashing my teeth for another 2 weeks while you people are having a good time over WiFi

Rumors go as far as saying the European release will be earlier (as in March 4th). We'll have to wait and see.

Also, regardless of what people say, "Minccino" is "mini cappuccino." Tiny and hyper - very fitting for a chinchilla.

Two things I found from yesterday's update: - The ability of Pidove wasn't translated as Pigeon Breast, but as Big Pecks. However, Bulbapedia points out a possible double meaning as both "pecks" and "pecs" (pectorals).
- The default Pokémon names are no longer written in full caps. It still happens in the previous generation's names when they're in the wild, albeit not with proper names of Pokémon or humans.

So I still gotta actively name him "Pikachu" to avoid "PIKACHU"? Or does it default to "Pikachu" after catching him? Or is it even revealed that far?

I think Johans means that Pokemon being sent over from previous Gens will stick with the very same name. So if you haven't nicknamed 'em they'll still have the all-caps thing going on.
But really, who doesn't give their monsters corny nicknames?

Oh, no, I didn't make myself clear  I meant that, based on the screenshots, it looks like the name of a wild Pikachu would default as "Pikachu" in Black/White as opposed to what would happen in previous games. But yeah, I'd wager unnamed Pokémon sent over from previous games would remain in full caps. |

"Chillarmy" just makes me picture a group of pot-smoking soldiers. XD So far I'm digging all the English names except for Oshawott. But maybe that'll grow on me, like Zigzagoon did. |

Look at Koffing. That name is just a mispelling. But boy is it catchy and certainly fun.

Minnicinno is based on the same things as its evolution- the chino cloth. I don't mind it, since they now share an etymology.

I had no idea what its origins were until Qu posted it just then, I just loved the sound of it. Saying Chillarmy out loud makes me feel dirty. Just like Pachirisu. They just don't translate into nice flowing words when anyone outside Japan tries to say them. Although I bet a pirate would have fun saying Chillarmy. ChillAAARRRRRmy. |
