Oddly enough, one of the groups in my story is made up of Yoshi, Kirby, Starfy, and Moe (and occasionally Old Man Lobber).
Moe being the apparent only voice of this outfit (and even Lobber if he's around), understanding the other three and "translating" for them to other characters, if need be.
And on another note, also remember that just because a character has a playable count of 0 so far doesn't mean that they automatically are less worthy/suck worse than those who have playable counts of 1 or more.
These things not being games either, there could be other ways to work them into these stories.
