- Tikis are part of the "Tiki Tak Tribe." One tries to possess DK at the start of the game, only to get sent flying.
So Donkey Kong is nearly a "Kong in distress" for the third time in the Country series. It's great he escapes that. I was seriously thinking Dixie would be in it providing a combined slow falling or something.

Oh... how lame. So, Donkey, Diddy, and Cranky are the only Kongs in the game? Why not more Kongs even if they aren't playable like Wrinky? Swanky? Funky? Candy? Well, that doesn't matter now because when I do my survey after I buy and register the game at Club Nintendo, I will be sure to ask them to make a sequel with Dixie and Kiddy as the third and fourth playable Kongs so the said sequel would have NSMBWii-like four-player co-op gameplay (and provide us with the option of playing with any Kong in single-player mode).

That'll show 'em! I don't see the problem with those being the only Kongs. There are a lot of Kongs, and most of them usually just feel like they're there to be there rather than to fill an actual purpose. I wouldn't complain if they threw Funky in as an unlockable replacement for DK during gameplay, though...

I have to honestly admit I wanted to post before hand telling you guys to lower your expectations . . .
. . . And after seeing what's happened, (1 Kong returning/not playable) I knew I should have spoken out.
Dammit people this is NINTENDO! How many times has then happened in the past? (E3) You keep your expectations so high and then they come crashing down.
Fanservice/history ain't exactly their top priority when making a Nintendo game. (Even the SSB series feels like it could have used/done more).

Da Robot's got it right on. Nintendo will never be concerned about their characters as much as we'd like them too.
I know we're all guilty of that at some point or another, even me, but that's just how Nintendo handles these things.

Pardon the double post, but now here are the scans of all that info: -So, Squawks IS an item you could buy from Cranky's shop. Doing what? I wonder... -Great island design. -"Glad I could help my grandson overcome this deadly challenge in exchange for a little cash money." Say it like it is, old man! ;D

Yeah, you're right, Da Robot. I am not even remotely upset over the lack of the Kongs/Kremlings/water levels and Dixie Kong being unplayable. It is just that having them around would enhance the enjoyment of the game experience. You know? The sense of being in the world of Donkey Kong Country - it is where you expect to find Kongs and Kremlings and Animal Buddies. I guess I could understand why some were upset over Donkey Kong Jungle Beat even though it was a great game in itself. Some of us just like some fanservice here and there.

I suppose having Cranky in this game is better than not having any other Kongs in the game at all...
It is kind of lame and disappointing though.
Hopefully, if there is a sequel then this will get sorted out.

Well, Sqrt, you could make your voice heard if you filled out the survey after registering your copy of the game at Club Nintendo and ask for more Kongs, more playable Kongs (Dixie and Kiddy), bring back Kremlings, add more Animal Buddies, and add some water levels in the sequel if they decide to make one. I think giving constructive criticism on an official survey seems more reasonable than complaining and getting your karma smited on message boards as if the forum members are the ones who made the game. LOL

Cranky was one of the two only things I wanted in the game and he is here so my expectations, though a little letdown by no Dixie, has not crashed so I'am still happy. I'am looking forward to all his sarcastic remarks about well, anything possible. In the meantime, here are some more details. - Many big scripted events - Giant screen-filling octopus hunts Donkey Kong through a full level - The octopus has different attack strategies - In co-op, if one player dies, shake the Wiimote to get the balloon-lifted barrel that your partner is in closer - Tiki Tak Tribe use their hypnotic powers to turn the island’s animals against DK/Diddy - They steal Donkey Kong’s stash of bananas, but it isn’t clear what they want with them - Camera automatically zooms in/out based on what’s around - Grip & Trip (World 4-2): Mine cart ride, sometimes have to hang from a patch of grass rolling on a rail above you - Mole Patrol (World 4-4): Navigate through a tight tunnel in a Rocket Barrel as it is being dug, if you touch any side once, you’ll die - Muncher Marathon (World 5-8): DK’s ground pounding angers a ton of spiders, need to keep running to stay ahead of them, chase goes on for awhile with little room for error Got these from Nintendo Everything.

On Cranky being the only Kong Helper:
It kind of makes sense for them to have only one Kong. They functionally don't need the other Kongs.
-They don't need Funky because you can probably already travel the world map and returns to previous areas without the need of a vehicle.
-They don't need Candy or Wrinkly because every game these days has automatic saving.
-They don't need Swanky because Cranky already sells extra lives.
-They don't need Klubba because there's no Kremlings in this game.
-They don't need the Brothers Bear because there's no Zelda-style trading sequence and Cranky already runs an item shop.
Still, NP could still be wrong. And Funky, Candy and Swanky could've easily run mini-games like they did in the GBA ports.

The thing is they have a pig running the Check Point. They easily could have stuck another Kong in there.
