So yeah. The Young Justice return was pretty rad, with an ice villain themed episode. Lots of small nods for the fans.
One thing I noticed that I can't believe they got away with is Killer Croc is shown in teh episode, and is clearly as a sufferer of Harlequin-type Icythosis. Don't... don't look that up.

Yep, that's Croc all right.
Man, they went all out with the characters in this show. This is the first other medium appearance of Icicle Sr. or Brick. Somewhat impressive for both- Icicle is a 70 year old character, and Brick only about eight, so both are outside of the usual range of cartoon appearances.

I'm sure I'd be all over Young Justice if I had any knowledge about the DC Universe, but since I don't it's like playing Smash without knowing what a Nintendo is. I'm missing out on all the fun little nods
The linked episode was good though so I'ma torrent this shit
Oh and the Discord part 2 might be my favorite episode yet. I had a stupid grin on my face when it did the Star Wars ending

New animated stuff from Warner Bros. - CG animated "Beware the Batman" tv series for 2013. Has Batman, Alfred (with guns!) and Katana (sort of being the "Robin"). (current internet commenters don't seems to like it . . . What did they do to Batman's skull?) - DC Nation hour long tv black of content, will have shorts (1-2 mintues long) such as: - Aardman animation Batman claymation shorts - Doom Patrol shorts - Super Best Friends Forever (staring Batgirl/Supergirl/Wonder Woman and made by Lauren Faust) And from the looks of it Plastic Man shorts (like that old pilot) And also briefly mentioned that WB is working with Conan O'Brien's production company, which could mean more Flaming C shorts The video below is where the info came from, also talks about how there reviving old franchises (keeping them relavent is what they actually say) and changing them slightly as copying exactly what has happened before will not work in this age. And how they aren't accepting any new pitches because of it. And from the sounds of it, they had to beg Bruce Timm to use CGI for Green Lantern TAS. (also they diss the movie) And anything being made in CGI instead of 2D seems to be a "cost" issue.

I know that's supposed to be his open mouth but I can't help but see 2013 Batman there sporting bigass kissy lips. It would kinda fit on that deformed head actually - Aardman animation Batman claymation shorts - Super Best Friends Forever (staring Batgirl/Supergirl/Wonder Woman and made by Lauren Faust) YES! YES!

The Plastic Man shorts are from the same team as the pilot; Kenny and his partner-in-crime were contacted because of it to make some shorts for the DC Nation block. Not sure how long it'll last, if at all, beyond the 6 or so commissioned shorts.
But hey, better late than never, amirite?

Can they give Batman a rest please? Maybe they could make a new series for a different super hero for once?

Can they give Batman a rest please? Maybe they could make a new series for a different super hero for once? I agree. Batman's cool and all but him and the Joker are treading far too close to Wolverine territory...

It's not quite as bad as Wolverine publicity... at least Batman pretty much sticks to his own stuff. I can't see them giving Batman a rest. He is, after all, the central figure of the DC Universe. I thought The Brave and the Bold was pretty good, though. Batman was the central character (of course), but every episode I saw was used to showcase other DC characters more than Batman himself.

If WB was making this to come out next year to concide with The Dark Knight Rises, it could make some sense, but since it's 2013 and all Batman related hype probably would die down by them.
Why can't we get something like a Seven Soilders of Victory animated series? Wouldn't a whole lot a non superpowered heroes working together would make for an interesting series? (yeah, I just relised the irony that BtB is technically a non superpowered trio)
Even JLU did a modern homage to them with the episode Patriot Act.

I think the main issue is that these shows are not being sold exclusively to comic book fans. In order to be considered successful, they need to reach a much larger audience than that.
I'm not a big fan of Superhero comics. In fact, the only Superhero comics I own are Batman: Year One and Batman: The Killing Joke. The only reason I own these are that I was a fan of Batman: The Animated Series. Batman: The Animated Series became possible because Batman was DC's most popular and well-known character.
Would I watch a Seven Soldiers of Victory animated series? I've never heard of them before just now. So probably not. If I was flicking through the channels and saw "Seven Soldiers of Victory", I doubt it would even register with me as something I could watch. When I'm flicking through and see "Batman" I almost always stop to check what it is, because "Batman" registers to me as a trusted brand name.
It's the same reason a mediocre Mario game is guaranteed to sell better than an amazing F-Zero game, and it's the reason WB would be stupid not to be putting out a Batman show. They want the Batman name to continue to carry the weight it has since the 90s, and if they don't continue to expose new kids to Batman that would die out.

Ever heard of the Legion of Superheroes? It got made in a (2 season) animated series. ( But that had the added bonus of having a young Superman in it.)
I only went to my local comic book store for the first time this Wednesday and that was partially motivated by the DC reboot. Ended up spending NZ $208. (most of it on graphic novels).

Ever heard of the Legion of Superheroes? Nope... and I think that just proves my point. I don't have a problem with them making shows about more obscure characters. If they think it'll find an audience, then great! But the idea that they should be doing that instead of Batman is just bad business. It's like suggesting Nintendo ditch Mario in favour of more Star Fox games. There's no reason they can't both happen. The real reason WB aren't making shows about whatever lesser-known hero isn't because they're making Batman shows. WB is more than capable of making several animated shows at once. It's because they don't think it'll be worth their investment. And they're probably right.

The pilot hurt my brain because of the occasional lapse into Spumco-styled animation and the long chain of intolerable puns. Plas' sense of humor isn't derived from puns, it's derived from irony. The pilot's writers were philistines. >8( Also, is Plas' "partner in crime" Woozy Winks, not that creepy midget guy with Fred Flintstone stubble?
