Fuck it, I decided to watch the first episode (via someone recording the show from an iPad 2 using their iPhone which wasn't held very steady and there was no end credit sequence). It was very well done, it has nice humor and appears to be animated pretty well. And I liked the use of the spoiler!( leaf blow/vac )spoiler! at the end. I'm also heard that a 3 season story arc is in place, which is pretty amazing to hear. Korra was disappointing and badly written, Korra was good for it's first few episodes and than it kind of went downhill. Probably the biggest problem with the series was how the creators were trying to make a "12 part miniseries" and they were comparing it to 12 episode series such as Game of Thrones (maybe another show, I can't remember) but the problem is that show is an hour* long compared to half hour* that LoK is. * Admittly it's not exactly hour/half hour long programming but more like 47/22 minutes repectively. Also the bloody love triangle(s), did they really have to force it in to the story so fast? The shippers started shipping characters before the show even started (no they really fucking did, even shipping Mako and Bolin before it was revealed they were brothers.) It was nice to see the show have some more "mature-ish" scenes in it, but didn't the creators say there would be more mature themes? I mean they had the whole "benders taking our jobs" bit and they never really showed any examples of non-benders losing out. Or the scene in the final where Spoiler! it is interpreted that Korra is so saddeded by her loss of bending that she was going to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff (and thus start the next avatar cycle continue with a new bending compable avatar as soon as possible) spoiler! I think that scene could have been made a bit more obvious. I know there was other mature stuff throughout the series such as Spoiler attack of Korra by equalists that some say remsembles attempted rape, the destruction of the Pro-Bending arena being like a terroirist attack and of course the murder-sucide of the two brothers and maybe there's a few more. Spoiler end. But there is one thing that does interest me though, and I'm never heard mentioned is the relationship between spoiler Tenzin and Lin. Is it possible the reason why the two didn't get together is because Tenzin was the last airbender (again, because Aang would have died) and him having kids is the only way to keep the airbending line alive. Maybe Lin established eailer on in their former relationship that she didn't want or couldn't have children. Or Tenzin didn't want to decrease the chance of having airbending kids with someone who could possibly produce earthbending or non-bending children (Because as far as we know Lin hasn't had kids, could her behavor around Meelo needing a bath in episode 10 be her basic reaction to all young kids?Spoiler end. Only thing I hope for next season would to hopefully have some prequal/backstory episodes. Also it's been confirmed that some of TLA writers are back for Book 2. A certain image board came up with a better finale for Korra . . . it involves Space Jam i.imgur.com/wRx0X.jpgAnd comic follow up. i.imgur.com/rfdlM.jpg

My sides! And yeah, Korra's main issue was that it was trying to cram so much stuff that should have been spread out through multiple seasons. Bolin served no purpose, Mako was a douche ("Hey Asami, I know you abandoned your father for me, and now you have no family, your business now faces a horrible reputation, and well, there's no easy way to say this...but since Korra's the avatar and you're poor now, I love her."). There were two too many "I love you"'s spoken in the finale. It was just...painful to hear. Worse than the constant "Sweetie"'s in The Promise (which also has shitty writing). The final can be summed up in three words: Deus ex Machina.

Slightly good Korra news!
Another 26 episodes have been ordered (for a 3rd season or possibly two 13 episode 3rd and 4th seasons).
This is not to be confused with established info of season 1 and 2 having 26 episodes (12 and 14 for each season).

Well I did say "slightly good" . . . The show wasn't that bad, the start was good, only the finale was where it got really rushed. Hopefully the writers have learnt from it. Bryan Konietzko confirms what's up. The Legend of Korra has been picked up for an additional 26 episodes, which will be split into Books 3 & 4! Mike and I had been hoping to announce this big news to the crowd at the Korra SDCC panel tomorrow morning, but the network put out a press release yesterday. And as we suspected, people are pretty confused, understandably so. Hopefully people are also excited.
I’m sure I’ll be trying to clear this up in posts for a long time to come, but I’ll lay it all out right now:
–Book 1 = 12 episodes
–Book 2 = 14 episodes
–Book 3 = 13 episodes
–Book 4 = 13 episodes
–TOTAL = 52 episodes
Why are the four books split up into those numbers of episodes, you might ask?
Initially, Nickelodeon picked up Korra as a 12-episode miniseries. Their idea was to do 12-episode arcs that were more standalone than the original Avatar series. Mike and I were cool with this idea, as we had originally wanted the seasons to be 12 episodes long instead of 20, and creatively we liked the idea of doing tighter story arcs.
The original plan was that if Nickelodeon wanted more episodes, they would order them 12 episodes at a time. But while we were in production on Book 1, Nickelodeon decided to change their season lengths from 20 episodes (like Avatar had) to the more standardized international length of 26 episodes. They liked how Book 1 was coming out and decided to round out the order to fit their new 26-episode mold, and we got a 14-episode pick-up, which became Book 2.
Then, the network wanted even more Korra, so they picked up another order of 26 episodes. Mike and I wanted to stick with the shorter “books,” so creatively we are splitting the second order of 26 into Books 3 & 4, 13 episodes each.
What makes this even more confusing is that the network considers each block of 26 episodes a “season,” which is another reason we try to stick to calling these Korra arcs “books.” So for the network’s purposes, Books 1 & 2 are Season 1, and Books 3 & 4 are Season 2.
When will Books 2, 3, and 4 come out?
Someday!
What will happen after Book 4?
Mike and I plan to wrap up the Korra storyline at that point with the close of Book 4. Then I plan to crawl into a dark cave and go into hibernation. And hopefully see my wife more often.
I hope that clears it up. SEE YOU IN SAN DIEGO! If you can’t make the panel and Nick booth signing tomorrow, we’ll be signing at the Dark Horse booth on Saturday, I *think* at 2:30 (but I’m not sure). If you are going to SDCC, please be safe! You probably already heard, but tragically a convention attendee died in an accident on Tuesday morning. Take care. EDIT: Friendship is Magic, now in official comic book form. www.comicsalliance.com/2012/07/12/idw-announces-my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-comic-by-kat/Would I buy it? No. I have a feeling tons of nervous fans are going to torrent those comics unless they provide a cheap digital version. I know they said they won't do a crossover with Transformers or GI Joe, but damn I would buy that if it did happen because it sounds hilarious Dear Princess Celestia
Today I learnt from some new non pony friends of mine that "knowing is half the battle" and that "Nightmare MegaMoontron with Cobra tech must be stopped, no matter the cost" of our toys
Transforming and rolling out, your faithful student Twilight Sparkle
PS What does the term, "one shall rise, one shall fall mean?"

It's been confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog has a speaking role in Disney's Wreck-It Ralph and will be played by Roger Craig Smith, who played him in Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations.
Based on something Rich Moore said it sounds like they also wanted Mario and Luigi to appear, but Nintendo wanted more money than they were willing to pay.

It's also been confirmed that it's a Sonic Sez-esque parody, including "That's no good!".

I didn't hear him say it in the clip I saw... but the first sentence of his speech was completely inaudible because of the crowd cheering. The line I did hear was "If you die outside your own game, you won't regenerate. Game over, man."
They've also announced that Wreck-It Ralph is appearing as a playable character in the new Sega Racing game. Which is weird, but cool.

It makes sense for Ralph to pop up in other company's games than it does for him to get his own game, given the plot of the movie.

The Zelda guy looks like he is holding Majora's Mask. Weird how he looks like a blond Takamaru. Also, King Dedede is a girl?!

Pretty sure that is supposed to be Kirby (with DDD's gloves and hammer), though one can wonder why he is a female, unless its a trap...>_>

That character list is pretty impressive . . . Nice to see some of the obscure franchises make it it. And some else cartoon/video game related. Newest episode of Gravity Falls, has Dipper make a video game character come to life. (Said character is animated by sprite artist Paul Robinson who worked on the Scott Pilgrim game, and Wizorb).
