Gotham High Hey everybody! We have a huge treat in store for you this week from the Jeff and Celeste vault of awesomeness. Batman is both mine and Celeste’s favorite superhero and some time about a year and a half ago, we were approached to create a spec series based off of an old drawing of mine that we then sent to DC. Unfortunately, the project got lost in the sea of all the other Batman related projects in the works. But hey, it was still fun to make.
The Story Synopsis: We all go through incredible changes as teenagers: growth spurts, bad skin, a sudden insatiable need to uphold justice and avenge your murdered parents…. Well, that is if you’re Bruce Wayne. As if being a freshman at Gotham High wasn’t tough enough, Bruce’s insomnia and technological fascinations are taking their toll. Instead of spending his time studying, he has begun to obsess over an emerging personality trait: Batman. But under the watchful eye of his guardian and steward, Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce is forced to put his intelligence to good use: graduating high school. But given his classmates, can Bruce survive Gotham High?
In other words . . . Bruce Wayne in high school and all of Batman's villians as other students . . . WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT, I DON"T EVEN. It seems like the idea of a webcomic, possible bad webcomic.
On a lighter note, Batman Beyond/Batman of the Future nearly ended up becoming "Batman in high school" could these projects possible be related?
I have a looooot of issues with the premise, execution, writing and characterization. It's not as bad as - say - the Teen Titans cartoon (XME had some enjoyable episodes, didn't phone in on the animation, and wasn't the perfect Weeaboo Shithead anime-wannabe), but there were still a lot more flaws than not.
At least, in my opinion.
(Also, Rogue's manjaw buttchin crept me out. Just sayin'.)
(And after seeing the title seqeunce, I can confirm that Rogue really DOES have a butt chin. There's like a thin vertical line in the middle of her chin)
While on the topic of butt chins vast amounts of cartoons uploaded online for ease of watching, NeoGAF has ended up leading me to a site called Master Toons which appears to upload an entire old cartoon series (and recent series soon after there TV permeires) everytime they get another 100 people to join their facebook page. And for some fucked up reason they have also done the stupid decision to upload recent animated movies as well (Eg Toy Story 3, Megamind).
* It's like the people's choice awards for bad movies
In awesome news, the full set of ReBoot DVD's are coming out this week!
copy paste info
This 9-disc Definitive Mainframe Edition has all four seasons of the show; a 20-page booklet including episode summaries, original airdates, fan art chosen by ReBoot's original production designer, and more; a 3-D lenticular postcard; and an exclusive bonus disc with a documentary on making ReBoot, a retrospective by series co-creator Gavin Blair, as well as animated character models. It's $70, and the only place to get the complete collection is at Shout Factory at the link above. If you're low on cash, Amazon has the Seasons 1 and 2 set here for $21.
Don't know how many of you may have seen the old Hanna-Barbera Wacky Racers show, but apparantly someone tried to pitch an update to the series called Wacky Racers Forever starring the decendants of the original series characters.
Cartoon Network rejected it.
After seeing it, it's not bad and it's certainly watchable.
For those who don't know, that's Jim Cummings as the voice of Dick Dastardly. He's also the voice of Pete from Goof Troop and Pooh from Winnie the Pooh. One of my favorite voice actors EVER (we even share a birthday XD), but yeah. As Dick Dastardly he doesn't really fit.

I friggen loved Wacky Races as a kid, mostly because it was about a bunch of goofy characters cheating their way to the finish line, basically making it Mario Kart the cartoon. This pilot makes it seem like that douche Peter Perfect jr'd be the main character.
Not sure what's worse, prequels starring the original cast as annoying teenagers or sequels starring the cast's children who are annoying teenagers.
nocturnal YL: My current plan is to play Atelier Firis DX now, which online guides suggest is long. Atelier Lydie & Suelle DX will likewise be long (longer than the original too, due to DLC, DX additions and I'll make the best items). I'll maybe play Ys Origin after.

nocturnal YL: Not sure about what I'll play after. Another Atelier game will probably be out by then, either completing the Secret series or giving us Arland 5. Either way, I'll probably play those before going elsewhere. Dusk will have to wait for quite a bit…

Nester the Lark: Wondering if I should get Mario Golf at launch or wait a couple of months. I have so many other things to play that my gaming (and wallet) might need a little breathing room.

Nester the Lark: The problem with playing Hyrule Warriors and a modern Ys game at the same time is that even though the combat feels somewhat similar, the controls are completely different, and I get confused.

Shrikeswind: Yeah I'm here, but kinda vaguely. Sorry, I haven't had too much to say lately.

Shrikeswind: By the way, I don't know if you guys have been keeping up with OCR on YouTube, but apparently they're dropping an album for a game I grew up on, Jet Force Gemini. Really pumped; I'll post a review when they finish.

Shrikeswind: Or at least when my Top 3 from that game are on the Toobz. Just one more song to go.

Nester the Lark: I feel like I've been neglecting the forum more than usual lately. Been distracted by other things. I'll try to post something when I get the chance.
Jul 16, 2021 10:38:22 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I don't have time to make posts. Atelier Firis DX takes forever to play. When I'm not playing, I'm in a read-only mode, reading guides and watching (unrelated) videos.
Jul 17, 2021 13:25:38 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: On that note, I'll probably make a review on the whole trilogy, so it will be a while until I talk about these games in details here. I can say Atelier Firis DX has far exceeded my expectation and has taken over Totori as my 3rd fav.
Jul 17, 2021 13:31:06 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Uh, I take that back. Atelier Firis has a lot of merits, but also a lot of drawbacks. It's extremely tedious for 100% completion, and there are all kinds of other flaws. Still good for the exploration aspect and certain plots like Liane's character events.
Aug 9, 2021 13:38:12 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I don't know where I'd place it. A bit above Atelier Totori? A bit below it? I still think it's pretty good, at any rate. If only they could keep this game's engine but dial back its scale and make a traditional Atelier. Totally not foreshadowing anything.
Aug 9, 2021 13:45:07 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I've finished Ys IX, so I'll be working on a detailed write-up and comparison with Ys VIII.

Spud: I try to keep up with here, but the proboard RSS feed suuuucks. And Thunderbird is barely passable as a feed aggregator. I feel like the internet was just better in 2007.

Nester the Lark: I may have a little time to catch my breath...
Sept 6, 2021 19:09:08 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Game progress update: Atelier Lydie & Suelle DX — defeated Falgior, so it's about 1/3 done (about 1/4 if I count post-game item grinding); WarioWare: Get It Together! — played up to the staff credits (about 5%, I guess).

nocturnal YL: This pic is how I'd rate my games on Nintendo Switch so far (subject to change). Numbers are meant to show relative positions; like temperatures in °C and °F, absolute values don't mean much.
