You know what would be interesting? Something similar to what Steam has with its Steam Workshop.
It already sort of exists in SSBB (albeit unofficially), and the guys are getting pretty good at what they do. Of course, Model imports would have the typical legality issues...
Either way, I just hope Sakurai takes his time with this one and doesn't listen too much to the audience. Half are tourney fags and the other half are casual fags (no offense intended). I know very few people who can enjoy both sides of the spectrum.

The interview's telling me very little. Most serialized games change a little in each instalment anyway.
I'm not sure about if 3DS / Wii U connectivity will be a good thing; or having two versions released at around the same time in the first place. If this happens, there's a small chance I might skip either one, especially if one would be a proper subset of another in some key areas like the playable chcaracters.
I somehow feel that Project Sora is going to intentionally make the 3DS version look bad, citing "it's a portable game" as an excuse even though a memory card can typically be several times larger than a DVD.
But it's too early to moan and rant now. We'll see how it works - in E3 2013, perhaps?
Now considered one of the publisher's flagship franchises, the manic fighting series has more than quadrupled its playable roster
Er, what? Can they not count or something? 35 (plus a few for down-B transformations) over 12 wouldn't be greater than 4...

No Sakurai, I'm not really looking forward to paying for two titles in order to get the most out of my games Anyway he pretty much said the same thing about changing directions shortly after he was done with Brawl. Hopefully he won't change up the formula too much, if it ain't broke don't fix it 'n all that. Plus that other totally new SSE thing he added in Brawl fucking sucked so I hope he remembers what made Smash Bros great in the first place (chaotic multiplayer) But hell, even if he turned it into a singleplayer chess game experience I'd end up buying it either way

The most realistic way to complete Brawl is to unlock all the characters and stages..and maybe Assist Trophies.
But COMPLETE-completing the game, 100% (trophies, stickers, music, etc.).......is the most boring shit ever. For starters, just look at all those "challenges".
Anyone who actually did 100% Brawl, you can't possibly say that it was not tedious in the least. It'll be inevitable that the next games are going to pull that again...but damn, I hope not.

Even unlocking the characters becomes a chore. Unlocking Mewtwo in SSBM was a chore and you needed him to unlock Mr. G&W as well! At least there was the multi-controller exploit. That only took 5 frickin' hours But yeah, on the one hand I love collecting all this nonsense, but there is a burnout point where I feel like I'm wasting my life doing it. Do I really need a complete Stickers collection? As such, my Brawl is still incomplete.

Input/output features in common with 3DS and Wii U (that we know of)
Second (private) screen* Touch Screen* Camera* Tilt/Gyro** Button inputs
microphone (like that's going to happen) speakers
* (assuming multiple "U Tablet" controllers are used)
** (Assuming Wii Remote/Nunchuck is used and no classic controller)
It's odd to think about, with console games (like SSB) nothing is "hidden" when everyone is looking at the TV screen . . . (eg, you see what other players are doing on the same screen)
So maybe Sakarai is thinking of something gameplay wise that makes use of "hidden player infomation/inputs" (on one's private screen on a 3DS/U Tablet).
^ So what does everyone think of that?
Maybe tilt control could be used to control a characters centre of gravity and tilting left or right could make a character perform an attack?
Personally I just hope Sakurai comes up with something new/something we haven't seen before, that's still fun to play (and has online).
Back to Brawl, played through SSE with my brother once, went back to it by myself a while later, and just unlocked the Toon Link intro. Still haven't bothered to get the other alternative videos (eg Saving Zelda instead of Peach). It was a nice mode and the stickers were a nice idea, but I didn't really like execution wise.
And stickers were a pain to look at through that MASSIVE sticker album.
I just pretty much played Smash for multiplayer, recently me and my cousin played the game for 3.5 hours straight until 2:30 in the morning (didn't even look at the clock when playing), I don't think that would have happen if we played the SSE.
EDIT: Does anyone here like the filler/grinding aspect of trying to get all the stickers? I didn't bother with it.

Based on what I see in Melee, Brawl, and Uprising... I am pretty positive that we will definitely see the challenges and tons of collectibles again in Smash 4. It's sorta Sakurai's thing. I think what he was trying to do was to give the game tons of replay value by encouraging us to challenge our skills and reward us with collectibles.

I wouldnt mind a suport/attack system similar to "jump ultimate stars" using either the WiiU or the 3DS touch screen (they already had something similar with the stickers at the trophys base on Subspace Emisary.

Even the trophies in Brawl were kinda lackluster (especially compared to Melee), what with most of them being crap that was not even worth collecting. And the fact that the amount of Yoshi and Wario series trophies can only be counted with one hand each was already depressing enough. I meant that most of those challenges were not even interesting. Such as "Play X mode as every character". Where, just where is the fun in that? Even Kirby Air Ride had them more worthwhile.

Okay...here's the thing. Intentionally making a game look bad, for any reason other than parody, illustrates contempt for the dev's audience. Project Sora making SSB3D look terrible on purpose would be second only to Capcom's loathing of its fans. What point would PSora have to do something like that? To make the WiiU version shine in comparison, despite the visual quality difference that's already apparent? If PS really intends on underselling a game for any reason, all it shows is a terrible business practice. Besides, PS is helmed by Sakurai - a man who always strives to be 100%, a trait I imagine he imparts upon and expects from his team.

He is encouraging us to play with every character, challenging our skills to use certain characters we don't really like to play as. I don't really like playing as Wario or Falco, for example, but the challenge is encouraging me to play as them if I wanted a reward or a sense of accomplishment. But I agree, it was annoying as hell. It is like tl;dp (too long didn't play). ;D

To be honest, I can't remember what was I thinking when I wrote that back then. I'll see if I can recollect that memory... The thing is that making both Wii U and 3DS versions seems to be an attempt to make use of the best of both worlds. This means that either one of them will be more preferrable, or they will be making two different games that fans may lament why aren't they combined. Pure hardware capabilities soesn't strike to me as a valid reason here.Wii's Brawl didn't do very well at all graphically (compared ot other Wii games), and it's not like Wii U will havesome stunning, next-gen hardware capabilities that will make up of the game's incompetent graphics if the trend continues (Wii U looks like a 2009 or 2010 PC to me, made worse by limiting the resolution to no more than 1080p), while 3DS is somehow catching up - not by graphical capabilities in this case, but certainly it's using storage memories of more than a DVD, and perhaps more than a dual-layer BD (64GB > 50GB) in the future. It's just that... Wii U is too weak (unless it's revamped) for me to see the justification of making two different versions. And to maintain the "home systems are awesomer" image, that's where I get the "3DS version will look bad" thought.

I think people might be worring too much about the whole 3DS/Wii U versions.
Should we really be worrying when we don't even know what the game will actually turn out to be?
Eg: Sakurai wants to change it up, how do we even know we will get a game that plays like the previous versions. Who Knows? We could be getting some sort of Smash Bros card game (that would be simple graphically, right?) or something that's like Kid Icarus's multiplayer? (running around in 3D, not sidescrolling).

So the story is that Namco will be doing the development. Good? Bad?
I can't say I have much faith in Namco, but Nintendo can do some amazing things when working with other developers. My worst fear is that Namco's hideous approach to DLC will carry over to SSB4.

Holy hell, look who returned from the realm of inactivity. Welcome back dude About DLC, in the end it's all Sakurai's decision right? If he's against on-disc DLC like the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 director it won't be too bad. However I'm willing to bet that there will be on-disc content that can only be unlocked by connecting your 3DS game with the WiiU one and vice versa. Better not be anything more than a few extra trophies or costumes though. Also Sakurai is already sick of you hating on Namco. Stop it!!^These articles are also a good indication I need to avoid the comment section for every Smash Bros article everywhere forever again. Melee fanboys are the worst
