Super Smash Bros.
NOTICE: Do not be overwhelmed by how many pages there are. Please take the time to read the idea’s I have made for you. This took me several hours to organize and to come up with. I do realize you may not use them but maybe you’ll use them for future games. I know some of the things mentioned below may be a lot to ask for or a lot of work, but I’m sure many fans would wait longer and would like to see even better results. New ideas equal great success.
Date: June 2013
Blue = Most important.
1. Classic Mode:
● Have 2 players be able to play classic mode together.
2. Event:
● Challenges. Quick Run – a player must defeat an Ai before the timer runs out (1 min) and if not, then he sends his fleet of airships to destroy you. Instant death. Comes from background and kills you.
3. Multi-man Brawl:
● Speed Brawl. The enemies keep coming nonstop whether you kill them or not, more keep showing up. 1 every 10 seconds spawns and they get progressively harder as well.
Endless Stamina Brawl. 150% HP for enemies and 300% HP for you.
1 Hit Kills Brawl. Enemies come endlessly, but if you get hit once you die. They start off at novice, then they get progressively harder.
4. Brawl Character Selection:
● Themes. Allows players to choose a few different background themes.
Stocks. Each individual player or Ai gets their own stocks. This will prove useful if someone wants to have 1 stock for himself and more stocks of another player or Ai, making it difficult but challenging.
Difficulty Ai. Make level 9 Ai smarter. Also make a slot that says “random” for level Ai difficulty.
Extra Slots. Why not have more slots for players and Ai, instead of 4? Would this not prove useful and have more success? Have up to 6 or 8 players play.
New Characters. You could add Super Meat Boy, Jak & Daxter, Nathan Drake, Cloud, Earthworm Jim, Perfect Dark, C&C Red Alert Tanya.
5. Rules:
● Order Stage Selection. Players may pick individual custom stages they’ve made. Player should not have to unlock this.
6. Special Brawl:
● Spot Light. All areas are darkened except a small area around each player to see. If player does not know the level well, he may have trouble knowing where to land.
Weather Conditions. Player sets what of atmosphere the stage will have, such as; sunny, rainy – light, mild, heavy or how dark and windy it gets. Have wind actually effect players from battling. May rain fiery hail stones.
2D Characters. Have an option that makes everyone become a 2D character.
7. Items:
● Red Shell. Bring back the red shell. If people don’t like it, they shouldn’t use it.
Bullet Bill. Used from Super Mario World.
Blue Mushroom. Makes the player x2 defense go up for a short period of time.
Hazardous Container. If knocked over or caught on fire, a huge explosion and damage is given to the player if nearby.
Accuracy Upped. Most weapons or items shot/thrown will automatically lock target onto the closest player nearby for a short period of time. 30 Seconds.
8. Names:
● Allow players to show or hide names when a replay of a video is saved.
9. Stage Builder:
● Slide Scroll. Allow players the option if they would like the stage to slide scroll and give options of how far they can expand the stage. [Disable slide scroll stages online].
Parts. Players should have a large selection of items to choose from. Example: 1 type of floor with 5 different elements to choose from, such as; normal - walkable, ice - slippery, grass - slows player down from moving, quick sand - player can’t move forward but can jump out, breakable – breaks over time if walked on or attacked. Also allow rounded floors which players cannot grab onto an edge. Structures – Need more of these. Features – Have an item block that creates water, lava, poison gas, dark void, teleportation portal, and more. Ladders – make them be able cross over floors/walls for players to use them. Sliding Boxes – Players can place boxes. Icicles – Place them on ceilings, randomly some fall down and do damage to players. Smoke Bomb – Place something similar to this where it stays smoky throughout the game. Item Launcher – Place this in or against the wall shooting bombs or rockets out forever. Player may change speed or how many shoot out.
Directional Parts. All pieces should be able to go in any 90º directions.
Larger Stage. Instead of a stage that’s 18 x 14 make it much bigger.
Items. Allow items to be pre-placed on the level beforehand and then be able to pick items up in gameplay.
Saving Game. Have the option to choose what type of game you are creating. Example: Free play, Survival, 1 hit kills, Race to the finish, challenge mode, etc.
Challenges. Race - To win, a player must reach a certain destination.
Plant Eater. Like in Mario games, allow players to place these on the stage. If touched they do damage to the player.
Spawn Locations. Allow players to place spawn points on the stage.
Backgrounds. Players may choose up to 8 or more backgrounds for their stage.
Moving Platforms. Players should be able to change the distance and speed/pause time. Example: instead of 1x4, 1x5, 1x6, it should range as low as 1x2 and up to the size/edge of the stage.
Side Note: In Super Smash Bros 3 you were very limited on what you could do in the stage editor. Needs a lot of improvement in a variety of things. Please allow players to be flexible in what they can really make from scratch. More chooses allow for more success of the game.
11. In-Game:
● Replays: Everyone loves showing off their skills online on YouTube or somewhere. Allow players to record in different resolutions: 480, 720 or 1080.
12. Online Leaderboards:
● Top 100 Fastest time beaten: Single Player Game, Adventure, Target Smash with single/multiplayer, Stadium, Multi-man Brawl and boss battles. [Note: No need to show best time with every character with the lowest time, but instead which person beat the following the best way.] If possible, allow players to give there replay video online in the top 100. Players will then be able to look at the leaderboard, choose what they want and open the video from other players.
Top 10 characters used: Show which characters are being used most by players.
13. Other:
● Excel File. Over the years I’ve come up with challenges for me and my friends to play. Try making these challenges available for others to create or play in the game.
Dodge It. Have this in the category named “stadium” or in “training”. How to play: Like Home-Run Contest you’ll have a platform of some kind but instead you’ll be dodging bombs being launched at you forever. You can either jump or dodge them, but they’ll get progressively harder over time. Just how many can you dodge?
Race to the finish. Just like in classic mode, have this available in Stadium.
Rate Custom Stages. The company rates how good the player’s stages are and if it’s good enough it’ll be put online for others to play. If there are lots of views and a high enough rating the company will choose a few stages that could make it to the next Super Mario Bros game.
I will continue to give you more ideas added to this in the future. So far this is all that I've come up with. If you need anything let me know and I’d be glad to help. Thanks Fryguy64.
