I hope they fix this in the final version. Something within the VM (the NES game) being able to affect the host machine (the 3DS)... That's some pretty bad virtualization. For those who don't want to try this with their 3DS, here is what it looks like: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfKIX4Sioro#t=1m05s

So, we know the first 5 GBA games will be:
- Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island - Mario Kart: Super Circuit - Mario vs. Donkey Kong - WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames - Metroid Fusion
So what does everybody thing the next five will be?
Assuming from the NES releases and the 5 announcements, all 5 will have been released internationally. I doubt any will feature licenses (e.g. Hamtaro) and won't have any special GBA hardware requirements (e.g. Gyro/Rumble)... I also doubt we will see any old Pokemon games.
This leaves the following list:
DK: King of Swing Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong Country 2 Donkey Kong Country 3 Dr. Mario & Puzzle League F-Zero: GP Legend F-Zero: Maximum Velocity Fire Emblem Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Golden Sun Golden Sun: The Lost Age Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland Kirby & The Amazing Mirror The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past + Four Swords The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Mario Golf: Advance Tour Mario Party Advance Mario Pinball Land Mario Tennis: Power Tour Metroid Zero Mission Polarium Advance Super Mario Advance Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Wario Land 4
Not the world's longest list! Notable asides include the Advance Wars games. These did receive a Japanese release, but only as the GB Wars Advance 1+2 compilation cart... while the US and Europe got them as two separate games. Possible? If it happens, I reckon it'd be more likely US/EU gets Advance Wars and JP gets Fire Emblem: Binding Blade, personally.
What are your thoughts?

Didn't they confirm Yoshi's Island back in the original announcement? I'm sure that was a thing that happened.
I'm betting on Nightmare in Dream Land and one (or both) of the Zeldas. Possibly F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, though I am not sure why. I'd like Golden Sun to be in there, since I never had the chance to play it and I've only heard good things about it.

Yeah, it was SMA3, aka Yoshi's Island, not SMA4, aka SMB3. Confusing!

I'm sure they'll also have WarioWare Twisted to utilize the 3DS's gyro sensor.

Apologies, I read "Super Mario Advance 3" off the Japanese site and got it wrong. I've been operating on the assumption SMB3 was defo coming for some reason... I shall amend. Maybe. but that didn't get a worldwide release, and it would probably need reprogramming to any differences with the gyroscopic system, and not sure they're going to make any programming changes. While there's always a chance they will release something one region never got before, reprogram a game for the system or have a different lineup in different regions, for the sake of this exercise let's assume they won't. Which 5 games from that list do you think we're getting? Dr. Mario & Puzzle LeagueThis would explain why we got Yoshi in the NES collection instead of the more obvious Dr. Mario. If we're going to get a range of genres, as with the NES selection, I see this as a high probability. Kirby & The Amazing MirrorIt would be a bit lame to get Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland... a remake of a NES game... So I'm personally hoping for Amazing Mirror. Which was a great game. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish CapI love this game, but it was overlooked to some extent. I'm not sure we'd get A Link to the Past thanks to the Four Swords extra already coming as a freebie (with bonus extras, no less). Wario Land 4I love the Wario Land games, and this is one of the weirder ones. I'm sure I beat it before, but I'd quite like to refresh my memory That leaves one more slot. I note with some concern the sheer number of Mario games (4 confirmed, 2 in my list). I'm not sure we'd get Golden Sun unless they packed in The Lost Age as a bonus due to the closeness of the stories (and no plans to add GBA VC), and we're already getting Mario Kart so getting an F-Zero game as well seems unlikely. So the last one will either be a Mario game (Super Mario Bros. 3, or perhaps Mario Power Tennis... but preferably Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga) or... My Advance Wars / Fire Emblem scenario.

Just had a thought about the GBA games . . . Nintendo says . . . "These games will be available exclusively to Ambassadors, and Nintendo currently has no plans to make these 10 games available to the general public on the Nintendo 3DS in the future."Does anyone here think Nintendo could just make a GBA virtual console handheld on the eShop that allows the rest of Nintendo's GBA library on it? I'd actually love to see a handheld by Nintendo or any company that's dedicated solely to purchasing download classic games on it. It'd also be nice if it was able to change pixal resolutions, so it could accurately recreate each game. Though, with the 3DS just released, people might not want to shell-out over $100 for another Nintendo handheld so soon. I hope someday GBA games do come to the Eshop, it'd be a shame for only ambassadors to get them, (Especially for those of us who can't afford a 3DS yet) sense some of these GBA games are quite good. Though, personally, I think I'd rather see "SMW2: Yoshi's Island," and "Metroid: Zero Mission" rereleased as part of the "3D classics" catagory rather then VC. With the cool artistic backgrounds, and huge bosses, both games would look quite good in 3D.

I'm not sure I'd ever be willing to pay for a handheld that only runs classic games when the current systems are perfectly capable of running them and new games. What would be the point?

I hope so too, ever since the Ambassador Programme was announced I found it pretty strange that Nintendo was restricting the GBA games to Ambassadors only with no plans of releasing them to the public, with those games originally being available for retail to the general public in the first place. It felt like a panic on Nintendo, although it could have just as easily been Nintendo playing it safe. I think as the console ages Nintendo will eventually release more GBA games, as the 3DS gets more popular after Christmas and when their lists of Game Boy/Color games run smaller, although it would probably take a longer time if Nintendo focuses on releasing refined (save restore) NES games for the 3DS first? (although I'd find that maybe a little bit odd with the 3D Classics series already running) Nintendo were probably just have taking extra care to focus on the present and not look too much into the future when they said about having no plans for GBA games, because they would need to make a plan of things such as how to redesign the eShop, the prices of the GBA games with respect to tax, technical issues and what games to distribute, and any possible licensing issues.

Sorry to bump this but I am beginning to think that Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 is very likely going to be one of the GBA VC games to capitalize on the Super Leaf's big comeback since 1990. Anyone agree or disagree?

SMB3 (in any form) isn't improbable, though I doubt it will be explicitly because of the return of the Leaf. But to be honest, I hope it's not SMB3 because much like Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, it's be a port of a remake.
I'll admit, though, the only other GBA games I would want on the eShop are third-party. Megaman Battle Network 2 and Shantae in particular.
That said, I can't exactly bitch, even if the last five games are all Mario Kart Super Circuit with all of the content divided in five. It'll be shitty, but it's free.

Shantae wasn't a GBA game- it was a GBC game that game out at the ass end of the GBC's life cycle. From what a friend of mine who's a huge WayForeward whore says, Matt Bozon is attempting to figure out how to get it on the VC, so you're probably covered on that front.

If we are getting SMA4:SMB3, I will want to see the eReader content available, as this was never provided to Europe. All we got was a version of SMB3 identical to 1/4 of the Super Mario All-Stars version, and it was hugely disappointing.

Awesome. I hope Shantae GBC comes on the 3DS VC soon. I really liked Shantae: Risky's Revenge. It was really good and challenging. It felt like I was playing a Nintendo first-party game. I am also hoping for Mole Mania and Penguin Wars to come out on the 3DS VC... Mole Mania for the challenge and to support Muddy Mole for SSB4... Penguin Wars because it was my first Game Boy game over 20 years ago. ;D Okay, back to topic... which Zelda GBA game do you think the 3DS Ambassadors are most likely going to get? Zelda ALTTP or The Minish Cap? My money is on The Minish Cap beause Zelda ALTTP already comes included with Four Swords and we already got Four Swords Anniversary Edition last week.
