I have already made the mistake several times of assuming we're already getting Minish Cap. It seems such an obvious choice.
And for exactly the reason you provided.
I don't want too many of the GBA remakes. Ideally Yoshi's Island would be the only Mario Advance game in there, as it hasn't been released on Wii Virtual Console due to Super FX Chip black magic or something...
Edit
It's been said before, and it's unlikely as hell, but how would everyone react if the final 5 included localised Mother 1+2 and Mother 3?

It's obvious, but none of you mentioned that A Link to the Past is already there in terms of availability (Wii Virtual Console), so there you'd remove another half of the need for GBA ALttP. It's been said before, and it's unlikely as hell, but how would everyone react if the final 5 included localised Mother 1+2 and Mother 3? Hahahahaha! I'd rather call it EarthBound 2 because it wouldn't be Mother 3 anymore. Anyway, regarding the NES ambassador games, I'll confess I haven't unwrapped any yet. Would anybody mind re-explaining what are "the updated versions" of these games going to be? Better handling of saved data? Or will they become 3D Classics versions?

The updated ones are supposed to feature more options or multiplayer modes or something.
I also wonder if they will update them to the standard reissue versions. These are the original NES versions. None of the very slight tweaks they've made are here: You can minus world in SMB, the red-flicker death screen in Zelda 2 is present and the translations in Zelda 1 haven't been redone.

Well, to be honest... I am really hoping that they would update Super Mario Bros. with the new stuff that are in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. I really loved the red coin challenges and the inclusion of the Lost Levels.

The 5 already announced games I already own, but I don't mind that since having them together on my 3DS will be very convenient, and I'd prefer to play them on a handheld again rather than having to play them on the Gameboy Player (my SP broke ). I wouldn't mind if the other 5 games are games I already own too, but I'd rather they weren't. Here's what I'm hoping for: - Drill Dozer - Advance Wars - Mario & Luigi (I do own it, but the cartridge is messed up) - Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland/Kirby & the Amazing Mirror (don't mind which one, but I'd prefer the former) - Golden Sun Obviously I'd love it if the likes of Mother 3, Tomato Adventure, Fire Emblem 6 etc. are translated and included, but it ain't going to happen, same goes for 'special requirement games' such as Wario Ware Twisted or Yoshi's Topsy Turvey, but I can't see that happening either. Really, I'd be happy whatever the remaining 5 GBA games, mainly because they're free . The only ones I would perhaps grumble at are any of the three Donkey Kong Countrys (since the GBA ports are inferior to the SNES versions) and Dr. Mario & Puzzle League (since I've already downloaded both of those games from the DSi shop).

Well, sure enough if you strike out all Pokémon games, all games with odd hardware and all games not released in all regions, this is pretty much the entire GBA list!
It's a damn good list too! I'm going to enjoy this ;D
All of these updates have been released multi-region so far, so make sure to check to see if they're available on Friday, even if the update to the certificate hasn't been announced!

*Ripping his hair off for not being an Ambassador*
They better make GBA Virtual Console for 3DS... (->_<-)*
I mean, your 3DS are now way too valuable for being only handheld consoles with GBA games legally in...
Well, too bad, but how could've afforded 3DS before price drop...
EDIT: I dunno if ya have discussed about this before, but you think these GBA VC games will be released for public even if it's not currently planned? I really, really don't want just keep on dreaming of playing WL4 or Yoshi's Island, heck Amazing Mirror on my 3DS sometime. (-i^i-)
I think they might be wanting to make sure GB and GBC-games will get sold well up before GBA-games will be planned for release, maybe because GB-games would get totally overshadowed by GBA-games. (-l,l-);
But mannn, I don't know when I can stop rambling about not being an ambassador...

Nintendo already said no on those. The NES games wil eventually be available, but the GBA ones are strictly Ambassador-only. The same lineup is confirmed by NOE as well. I gues that means it is likely that NOA will be doing the same thing. I'm more glad at Nintendo acknowledging those games (not just "well let's just go for the entire SMA series, throw in ALttP and maybe Kirby NiD") than actually getting those games that I've already beaten anyway.

That'll do me nicely . The inclusion of Sacred Stones is a good sign, shows that maybe Nintendo haven't killed off the Fire Emblem franchise in the west afterall. I think we all have to take our hats off to Nintendo for being so cool this year. Free 3D Classics Excitebike, 10 free NES games, a much upgraded Four Swords for free, 10 free GBA games and free 3D Classics Kid Icarus.

Failing that just emulate them on your PC.

They'll never feel as good as playing on the handheld if emulated anyway.
I dunno about buying em due Ambassador Program-lacking...

I'm really liking that GBA line up. It's a shame I'm not a 3DS am-fucking-bassador (I still have my GBA and some of the games on that list, but this "Ambassadors only" nonsense irks me to no end). Bite me, Nintendo! Now I have no reason to even look at the 3DS virtual console. Okay, I'm done.
