It's 42 minutes long. That's way longer than I expected. So... Whoa. I'm pleased as far as the presentation itself goes, but there's no new games that have interested me. Okay, breakdown: (JPN version) Pokémon Sun / Pokémon Moon So the Alola fuorms are a result of evolution. I'm late to say this, but I wondered if the Z moves are named so to compensate the lack of Pokémon Z.
Mario Party Star Rush No coments
Mario Sports Super Stars Football (full-fledged, 11-player soccer), baseball, tennis, golf and… horse racing? That's news to me. Baseball, tennis and golf look really familiar to me, and the copyright text suggests the latter two are made by CAMELOT. Could this be a direct port of the earlier games?
Zelda 1 Link, OoT Link, WW Link, WW Zelda amiibo Cool, finally an OoT Link amiibo.
Zelda artbook No comments (this isn't the first time I've heard of it)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf amiibo+ I wonder what amiibo will be supported…
Regular, non-Pokémon 2DS finally hitting Japan You're late!
Happy Price Selection for more games No comments
StreetPass Mii Plaza update Still no way to gather pink pieces any easier.
Shovel Knight No comments
Tank Troopers At first, I thought this is from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment. This doesn't exactly feel Nintendo to me.
Paper Mario: Color Splash This isn't so much of an announcement as it's a reminder that this game still exists.
Hyrule Warriors Legends Those blocks created by the Sand Rod look really primitive. Don't tell me this is the final appearance.
Monster Hunter Stories and Link costume MH has a long history of including Nintendo-themed gear. Sounds like there are more to come.
Puyopuyo Chronicle I'll wait a bit before I decide whether to get this one. Puyopuyo Tetris had too few modes (not even a proper Fever rule), so I'm glad this one has more. In any case, Puyopuyo characters are finally available in 3D!
Jikkyou Powerful Pro-Yakyuu Heroes Evidence #1 that Konami isn't completely dead. Too bad I care about neither modern Konami nor baseball.
Megami Meguri No comments
Drancia Saga No comments
Sabaku no Nezumi-dan No comments
Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS So here's a version of Super Mario Maker that has no Mystery Mushrooms, has no 3D support, and most importantly, cannot upload levels because Nintendo wants to "focus on local sharing" with this game. (Are you sure it's not because you want to limit server traffic?) So this looks like an attempt to half-kill the Wii U with a half-hearted attempt.
Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World Because one Wii U-to-3DS port isn't enough.
Ever Oasis Not sure about this one. I like ARPGs in general, but I'm not a fan of trading games…
Pikmin Looks interesting. I wonder if the 2D format makes it any more difficult than the 3D games?
Momotaro Dentetsu 2017 Evidence #2 that Konami isn't completely dead. Except that it seems Nintendo will be publishing this one.

Well that was certainly an interesting direct. Ending with Pikmin 3DS was a true surprise.
SMM and YYWW on the 3DS were interesting surprises to see. SMM without online sharing sounds kind of pointless though. While YYWW sounds like an experience that can have easier transition to a handheld (assuming that all that will be lost is 2P co-op)
Tank Troopers looks fun, I just hope it has online and also want to know who's making it.
New Mii Plaza games/features sound interesting, though I waiting for reviews before deciding on the free game they are giving away.
Mario Sports Superstars is a strange thing to see. Tennis and golf are already covered by earlier Mario sports 3DS titles. Baseball hasn't had a new game since the Wii, while 11-aside soccer is new (and not going to make the Strikers crowd happy). And then horse racing that came out of left field. These games feel like something that have already appeared in Camelot Mario sports title and also Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (which seems even stranger since M&S at Rio wasn't released too long ago containing soccer). It just seems like they are treading old ground. But I'm happy to hear they all have online play.

I do like the style of Tank Troopers, love to see new IP's like that.

Two-and-a-half months must be the longest advance notice we've ever gotten for a Nintendo Direct.

Technically it's not a Direct. It's a live broadcast of an event in Tokyo.

Animal Crossing: NL Welcome amiibo update Direct!
It's a pretty comfy presentation, with some pretty nice updates to the game, including some from HHD and also including two minigames, which I won't spoil.
Japan's Direct also has preview for MiiTopia (which will get a bigger Direct on the 5th. The preview of the game seems to be like a cross between Tomodachi Life and an fantasy RPG.

Probably a little early to talk about Fire Emblem Warriors, or they would've shown it during the presentation. Maybe they'll reveal the mobile game they mentioned a while back?

I think both will be shown, and perhaps a release for the final bit of Fates DLC in the west.

Turns out that it is mobile-related. The JP preview page uses the English version logo. Guess this is to be expected for the mobile games in general.

That was beautiful. I've wanted a Gaiden remake since 08.

There was more Fire Emblem in that Direct than I expected. It's cool that they're remaking Gaiden, and I was glad to get an extremely brief glimpse of FE Warriors. Also cool that there's a full-fledged FE coming to Switch.
I don't really care about the mobile game, but it looked a bit... cheaper than I expected.

I didn't expect to see this. I decided not to watch this when they said it's about the mobile game (and it's early in the morning in my timezone), which makes this surprise even better. Breakdown: - I didn't expect a Gaiden remake. I thought after what's happened with Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem, they were shying away from making further remakes. And Gaiden needs a remake more than any other entries now, since it's the only story not available under the revamped UI introduced in Genealogy of the Holy War (things like the blue/orange grid colours make playing much easier).
- And full voice acting in this game? I wish this was in Fates. Also, I'm glad to see a lot of aspects of Gaiden being preserved here.
- Fire Emblem for Switch sounds great; now that's one solid reason for me to favour that system. I'm assuming the high-quality movies and voice acting can also be found on that game.
- I hope the Switch and New 3DS versions of Fire Emblem Warriors are the same. When I was about to buy Hyrule Warriors, they announced a better (but low-res) 3DS version, and not being able to choose between them and not wanting it that much to start with (due to me not actually liking 3D Zelda), I ended up not making the purchase.
- Takehito Koyasu's narration over the mobile game is priceless. I don't think you can find another voice actor who loves FE this much.
- I've been wanting to see a game where you can make characters from multiple FE games fight in a more or less free form (though in my mind, a tablet version of Cipher may be the best shot since that doesn't require much effort in terms of making new artwork and animation). Let's see if and to what extent the mobile game supports that.
- Speaking of Cipher, I'm kind of disappointed to see that two years into that series and there's still no trace of Sacred Stones whatsoever. Even Gaiden (as Echoes) and Hasha no Tsurugi got in it before Sacred Stones. Siiiigh.
