7 months on from the September Direct (or 3 months on from the January event) and we finally get another multi game focused Direct! And probably the first I going to miss because of getting a job. Well at least they announced the focus on Splatoon 2 and ARMS, those two games need more info shared about them. I doubt that ARMS will still be getting released in the Spring/May 2017 considering how little details have been shared up until now. Hopefully with 3DS game announcements we get more details on Ever Oasis and possibly localization of Miitopia. EDIT:This will be the first Switch/3DS content Direct making it the 3rd Nintendo console for the 3DS to have shared a Direct with. While the Direct from March 2016 would mark the last official Direct to have Wii U content in it.

JP Direct link, listing games showcasedSenran Kagura with HD Rumble. Yay? I'd say the Switch lineup is quite weak, lacking anything that can actually be called news. Now we know about the 3rd, purple drift level in MK8DX, and we've seen a new noodle-based fighter in ARMS. Okay, something about salmons in Splatoon 2 as well, but I'm not a fan of team shooters (or anything that emphasizes online multiplayer) in general. Also, Nights of Azure 2 and Fate/EXTELLA on Nintendo Switch. Part of me love how the Switch does give a little PlayStation vibe. The 3DS part is great. My favourite part is Kirby Blowout Blast, although I wish they'd tell whether it's a free-to-start title like Kirby Team Clash Deluxe. And whatever that multiplayer Kirby game is going to be. I just hope it won't be something that'd be much less fun in single player like Tri-Force Heroes. Announcement of the final batch of Smash amiibo! Finally! Cloud, Corrin and Bayonetta have alternate outfits. Now where's male Wii Fit Trainer, female Robin and Alph? Maybe the Villager variants and the Koopalings too, but that seems to be too much work. Corrin will likely not be compatible with Fire Emblem Fates, because irony is fun. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this presentation. Kirby alone would excite me. I wish they'd announce a Switch version of Kirby, though. Also, why the pay-to-win-faster model?

There was a bit more to the Direct than I expected. I liked all the rapid-fire headlines. Also, Nights of Azure 2 and Fate/EXTELLA on Nintendo Switch. Part of me love how the Switch does give a little PlayStation vibe. I saw a comment the other day saying that it seems like a lot of the kinds of games that were on the PS Vita now seem to be appearing on the Switch, so maybe developers/publishers are seeing it as a possible successor. (If only Falcom would follow suit.) And all those new Link amiibo! (Nintendo spamming those Links! ...Sorry.) Although, the last thing I need is another Link amiibo.

The new format for the direct with the headlines was a bit weird because it kinda spoils what they are about to show.
- Monopoly for the Switch was not something they should have talked about in the Direct. Who is this aimed at? - Project Mekuru looks like a cross between Bomberman, Splatoon and attacking using Mario's ground pound. So Nintendo helps Konami revive Bomberman for the Switch and then make there own version of it. - Kirby Blowout Blast looks interesting, nice to see that mode from Robobot get expanded. - Good to see Ever Oasis is still alive. - Devilish Brain Training finally gets a Euro release after 4 years . . . Why did this happen in the first place? - Confirmation that MiiTopia getting localized is nice to hear. - The new "All" Pikmin amiibo appears to lack the White and Purple ones. - Battle Chasers: Nightwar looks good, but the developers have stated that it's NOT an timed Switch exclusive and is launching on all platforms at the same time.
- More details on ARMS was nice. I feel concerned over how any fighter can unlock any "arm" weapon, it always seemed like some of those were going to be exclusive to each character to make them more unique. The reveal of the asymmetrical fighter Minmin looks interesting. Confirmation of a 4 player mode was good to see. Hopefully ARMS will get its own Direct in the future before the game releases, it really needs one. Sucks that the release date has just missed the "Spring" 2017 release by a few weeks. It also appears that Nintendo may have unintentionally revealed 4 more characters as well, so the roster size has been doubled.
- Salmon Run in Splatoon 2 looks interesting. It's good to see a PvE mode in the game.
Overall it was a pretty decent Direct with some nice surprises and content.
Is anyone actually buying all these Link's? I feel like we had enough already. The very first amiibo I got is a Smash Link for free when getting my Wii U, so I don't need anymore.

Is anyone actually buying all these Link's? I feel like we had enough already. The very first amiibo I got is a Smash Link for free when getting my Wii U, so I don't need anymore. I don't think anyone except the most hardcore collectors are trying to get all of them. But I think the thing is that there are so many different versions of Link that Nintendo is just catering to people who might have a particular favorite. (And Link is one of the best-selling amiibo, after all.) And quite frankly, those first generation amiibo really pale in comparison to the quality and detail of the more recent ones. I only own four amiibo so far, and technically, three of them are Link. Smash Link was my first. Then I got Ocarina of Time Link just because I thought it looked cool, and it was almost my birthday anyway, so I treated myself. (And actually, I was hoping it would unlock his costume in Breath of the Wild, even though I didn't expect it to actually do that. But then it turned out it actually does do that, so I felt justified in getting it.) Also, I got Wolf Link & Midna with Twilight Princess HD, which is technically Link, but functionally, it's a unique amiibo. And finally, I have Princess Zelda from BotW.

There has been way too many Links for a while now. I can understand 8bit and OoT Link, because they're iconic. But they should be issuing other characters to represent the games. I have no desire to get MM or SS Link, but Skull Kid or Ghirahim, I would consider.

STRAIGHT OUTTA NOWHERE LIKE A PUNCH SENT FROM A LONG SPRINGY ARM! A Direct focusing on ARMS will provide the initial entertainment for the starting rounds of the presentation. And then when you think it's all over, it will be followed up with a final strike from a Splatoon 2 trailer at the end of it! Will ARMS coming out fighting like the pre-release Splatoon focused Direct of May 2015 or will it be a TKO before it's release next month? Anyway the opening bell rings on the 17/18 of May! (Can Leon or a mod change the title?)

(Thanks for the title change).
Using the UK video as it has the new Splatoon themed controllers at the end.
Splatoon 2, Story mode trailer.
ARMS looks better and better, 3 characters from the leak revealed, some more modes including a basketball like mode, and volleyball and single player details. Confirmation of DLC characters, ARMS and stages FOR FREE.
While Splatoon 2 Story mode looks as good as the first game and included being able to use different weapons.

Nintendo's really trying to push Arms as another Splatoon, but I don't think it's going to catch on to the same degree. Still, it's always cool to see Nintendo throwing weight behind original IP.

Loved how the promo art they used homages the one used for the original 2015 Splatoon Direct. Pretty interesting direct, new characters look interesting. Buying food to get more experience per battle is a good feature. And I wish I had a Switch so I could participate in Splatfest trail.

It's early in the morning on the 14th for us easterners. I'll most likely sleep through it.
I'm hoping for more Kirby stuff. 3DS Kirby is more likely at this point. The one thing I want to know is Odyssey's length (number of levels), but I don't think we'll ever know until the game is actually out.
Japan's presentation is 50 minutes long. Japan-only game or campaign upcoming?

Sounds like a good sized Direct at 45 minutes. For comparison the April Direct was just under 36 minutes. Don't know what they could announce. Maybe a new 2018 3DS game? More amiibo? VC on the Switch? Surprise MK8D DLC? Commenting on Miiverse's closure?

I kind of hope most of it is dedicated to Odyssey, but that's me being biased.
