Nice! And yes, Ys VIII on Switch!!! Woo!!! I'm mostly surprised, but not entirely. I kinda suspected NISA might have the game ported to Switch, but I wouldn't have bet money on it. (In related news, the re-translation and PC version are both due out on January 30.) As for Hyrule Warriors, I've already spent more than US$100 and more than 550 hours playing it, so as much as I would love to have the 3DS content that the Wii U version didn't get, it's too much of a re-investment. I'm glad DKC:TF is coming to Switch. I love it and I want more people to play it. The addition of Funky as a playable character is cool, but he seems like the "easy mode" character. Again, I don't plan to buy the game again. SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy is a bit of a surprise. There was a rumor that SNK was working on a Switch game that was not KOF or Metal Slug, so I was not expecting a fighting game. Seems like a successor to Gals Fighter on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Might be fun. I'm kinda interested. [EDIT: Just realized that the trailer says something about executing all the moves with "just one button." Hmm...] I'm not super invested in the rest of it. It's cool to see The World Ends With You coming back with new content. I hope Square Enix brings back more obscure stuff. Dark Souls has been rumored for a while, so it's cool to see that. And I have to admit, I'm happy to see DK in Mario + Rabbids, even if I'm not too interested in the game. But, uh, yeah... Ys VIII on Switch!!!

On one hand, I'm happy that so many Wii U games are getting ports, in the way that its getting to more people who might have missed them.I'll probably pick up the definitive version of HW since I missed so much DLC on that one.
On the other hand, Funky Kong isn't quite enough to get me to pick up the TF port. C'est le vie.
Kirby looks fantastic, as usual. TWEWY is another of those games that needs to be put back in the spotlight, so good on Squenix. Odyssey's DLC is pretty ehhhh, though I'm super happy that the Hawaiian shirt from Sunshine finally get in!
Zero interest in Dark Souls or the SNK fighter, but good on the folks who want those. I play Payday on PC, so it's gonna be amusing seeing a Joycon inspired character running around. That's another game I'm glad is getting to an audience that might not otherwise play it.

Why did the recent Nintendo Direct shows broadcast at a time I'm sleeping?
I suppose east Asian users are supposed to wake up early to watch these, but I can't. I sleep late. It's right there in the name.

Looks like word from a Japanese retailer is that Sushi Striker is also going to get a Switch version. zgoing to be interesting to see how they change the two screen gameplay for the Switch . . . or will they just orient the system vertically? Personally I'm hoping that Dillon's Rolling Western mad max style game gets a western release because that series looks like it has potential. As well as some sort of word about future compatibility of Wii Shop Channel purchases or some sort of re-release strategy of VC/WiiWare for the Switch. I know there was a rumor about Konami's Rebirth games getting a Switch collection.

SMASH CONFIRMED. Also Bowser's Inside Story remake (They are just fucking skipping Partners in Time, I can't stop laughing about that), Luigi's Mansion remake, new Warioware collection, Splatoon 2 new campaign, No More Heroes 3 details... Over all, fucking killer direct.

I for one can't wait for another round of Ridley and K Rool begging.
Seriously though, Inklings look great even if they were the most obvious newcomers for this game.

This presentation didn't have much for me, but Kirby news alone have made my day.
I really love that Kirby Star Allies is going to have friends based on the past games. I do wonder how many waves of updates are there going to be, and who will be playable.
Also, WarioWare is back. It's just a compilation of the past games, but I'm going to get this one. Quite surprised to see that there are still more 3DS games I want.
I'm a tad disappointed by Smash. Sakurai works on it again, which should mean that we wouldn't see much in terms of new moves in old characters. And it will have a confusing, if not outright chaotic UI.
The rests are ports, remakes and games I already know exist.

It was a good Direct. Lots of news and confirmed rumors. I'm vaguely interested in Crash Bandicoot and Mario Tennis, but... nothing replaces Ys VIII as my most anticipated Switch game for now.

Really enjoyed this one too. Interesting that the Crash Bandicoot trilogy game is coming. I used to play Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation a long time ago and it's a pleasant surprise soon we can play the three games on the Switch soon for a reasonable price without having to buy the PlayStation games again. Can't wait to try WarioWare Gold, it's been a while we got WarioWare (other than the loosely similar Game & Wario). Not sure if it's just me but was a little disappointed in the Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story port because the graphics might not be updated much from the original Nintendo DS game, but it was nice and the Bowser Jr. quest is interesting. The Undertale port reveal was interesting. May try out the new Dillon's Rolling Western game as well. I think it's nice we can play the original Luigi's Mansion again on the 3DS. Perhaps we can expect to see a Super Mario Sunshine remake or re-release too. More information on the Sushi game is nice and I wonder how well it will be received. I like that Nintendo Switch is getting a new Smash Bros. and it was a pleasant surprise even though it was predicted by many (with the rumours as well). Will be interesting to see if there are any more new characters other than an Inkling, and the nature of whether it's a new game or an enhanced port. I'm happy about the other ports as well but might not buy those as I still like to play on my old consoles. Not that interested in the new Mario Tennis. Octopath Traveler is interesting. Haven't got much of an opinion on the other titles.

We are now living in a time when we thought the 2018 was going to the final year of the 3DS only for reveal that M&L3 will get a 2019 remake. Seems bizarre that they skipped PiT, maybe the thought was that a remake couldn't improve it? I'm been playing the Wii U VC version of SS and I'm enjoying it very much (just past Little Fungitown) and now regret not buying it during the GBA era. I brought a copy of BiS years ago and have still yet to play it. -WarioWare Gold. Another 3DS "best of" compilation probably from the team that did Rhythm Heaven Megamix. Going to be interesting to see how this controls or how the different games will be mixed together, Eg, using a stylus for one microgame but then quickly having to tilt the system for the next might be a bit awkward. -Luigi's Mansion 3DS, a unexpected GCN port? Curious to see if Next Level Games is behind this. -Dillon Dead Heat Breakers, western release confirmed and another shot for that series to shine. -Captain Toad on Switch and 3DS. A Switch version always seemed possible but 3DS? WHAT? -KDL2 friends return as one character in KSA, that's Coo cool. -Mario Tennis Aces, looks really interesting and trying to things that only video game tennis can do (like racket breaking). Good to see it can all be optional. Also PLAYABLE CHAIN CHOMP! -Splatoon 2 Octo expansion DLC looks nice -Smash for Switch, the perfect tease and perfect relevant and requested newcomer inclusion, thought it was going to be a 3DS Splatoon port from the first half, then the 2nd half had me screaming YESSSSSSSSSSSS! Felt like I haven't done that since the Pokemon GB games on VC reveal.

The BIS remake really is strange in my opinion. I swear that you can still find copies of the original game for sale.

The Mushroom Kingdom state and its safety regulations, does it have any at all ha ha?

What safety? The Mushroom Kingdom has another sport that involves an electric fence.
