Luigi has no family. His only brother was impaled by a Space Pirate commander just two months ago.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that the moves that are most likely to be King K. Rool's specials could all feasibly start with K: Kopter (the recovery move), Krown (...the crown), Kannon (the blunderbuss), and Kounter (the one where he uses his belly to reflect attacks). Sadly, his Final Smash is the Blast-O-Matic.
Wait, what do I mean sadly?

That was one heck of a Direct, great character reveals, amazing amount of info, good new modes (I'm wanted something like Squad Strike for years) and still more info in the next few months! My deepest condolences to Luigi's friends and family. He's got Peach and Daisy . . . Er, Waluigi is still mourning over not being Smash, while Wario is too busy going BUY WARIOWARE GOLD RIGHT NOW! WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYING IT? DID SOMEONE DIE IN HERE?90's kids?

Twenty years. It's been twenty years, more or less, since K. Rool last menaced the Kongs. Sure, he's had some appearances since then, but none really measured up to the Rareware games. I've been waiting for K. Rool since Melee and it's paid off.
Just waiting for the remix of Gangplank Galleon to be posted now. It sounds great!

Most people should be happy with the Direct. It was a real 4 quadrant kind of presentation.

I was very pleased with the Direct. One has to be extremely ungrateful with all the hard work Sakurai and his team are putting so much content into this game. Either that or just pure trolling.

This latest Direct was about things long "owed" to the series. I felt happy remembering that I'm a 90's gamer! The Belmonts were so likely as soon as we saw Bomberman as an Assist Trophy--I'm glad there was no restraint on religious symbols. I'm enjoying the many modes and settings announced for versus play, too.
Think Nintendo could lose much by negotiating Banjo and Kazooie at this point?

Let's not go crazy here. Add Banjo and people will start demanding Master Chief and Kratos.

Between Microsoft's as far as I know rare frankness about being OK with Banjo in Smash and MS's equally unprecendented partnership for Minecraft on a Nintendo console (post-buyout), I'd a bit surprised if a MS rep doesn't get in. We've never seen console manufacturers team up like this- not only is a rival company's game on Nintendo's console, but it's a Nintendo tailored version.
The big questinon, of course, is who they would pick. Banjo would be a smart choice, given he's been asked for since the original and is a Nintendo All-Star in the truest sense of the world. I wouldn't discount Steve from Minecraft, though, even if it's just a stage.
tl;dr I feel like Banjo and Minecraft are a bit different than stuff like Master Chief and Kratos. Hell, i'd say they have more Nintendo cred than Richtor.

I think otherwise; we won't see Microsoft contents in Smash. The reason is that there's no guarantee they can stay in the future. Microsoft seems to be open for these two generations (not just on games; we're seeing things like SQL Server on Linux and Visual Studio for Mac), having even published two games on Nintendo platforms in Japan (published Minecraft: Wii U Edition, and co-published Minecraft (Nintendo Switch) with Mojang). But that's not to say they won't change stance in the future. What if Satya Nadella leaves and his replacement is another Steve Ballmer? (Probably not; there's a reason other directors kicked Ballmer out as soon as they did).
Nintendo's response is also less of "we welcome you" and more of "yeah, we allow cross-play with other platforms because publishers and players want to do it", without ever mentioning Microsoft by name (in the context of them being said other platform's holder).
I'd be wrong, but I'd also be surprised to see Microsoft contents. Nintendo probably don't hate Microsoft (they probably even like them as a publisher and as a rival platform holder who reached out for them), but I don't see this happening.

Microsoft bought Mojang with the intent on releasing Minecraft on every possible device, which is massively different from Banjo and Halo which they keep to their own eco-system. Frankly I don't think it would be appropriate for first party Microsoft characters to appear in Nintendo's flagship fighting game.
