Is that one going to be about New Super Luigi U?
EDIT: Oh good. So it is about more stuff too. Wii U update, and everything else for Wii U and 3DS.

Well, there's Yoshi's Island 3 and A Link to the Past 2. That's more new titles than I expected.
Umihara Kawase will get a sequel too, but this is not news (since it's a third party title). I'm a bit interested.
I missed the first 10 minutes, which is the whole Luigi portion. And I can't seem to re-watch it (video won't load).

I see everyone calling the Zelda game "A Link to the Past 2". I know it's obvious it's just a placeholder name, but in a game series where timeline is so important to fans, that might lead them to assume it's placed after ALttP chronologically. EDIT: So this explains the "2" in the media.

It's also called "Link to the Past 2" in the North American trailer. Kat Bailey called it "Link 2 the Past." That's my favorite.
Y'know, I still don't have a 3DS or a Wii U. Nintendo just announced a new Zelda game and a new Yoshi's Island game, and I still can't work up the enthusiasm to get a new system. What's wrong with me?! Am I getting old? Or has Nintendo gotten boring?

HOLY SHIT, Earthbound on VC for both North America and Europe?!Knowing this game isn't in copyright lingo (no more?) makes me hella happy. Really digging Mario & Luigi Dream Team's art style. Might actually get this one after skipping the last two. The dreamworld better has a shitload of SMB2 cameos, there's no better time damnit! I like that Yoshi's Island 3DS style seems to be based on the one used in the original's opening, though I'm not sure if it's an actual new game or mostly a remake (again..) That ALttP sequel looks hella tight too. I might actually end up buying a Zelda game after, what, 6-7 years? Also Bill Trinen looked like someone aimed a gun at him the entire time All in all awesome direct, lots of games to actually look forward to again

It's also called "Link to the Past 2" in the North American trailer. Kat Bailey called it "Link 2 the Past." That's my favorite. I guess in the eShop menu? Because I somehow am unable to connect, and the uploaded YT videos still only say "The Legend of Zelda" ;D (Confusing because you're also saying you still don't have a 3DS)

I just beg ARTOON its not involved on the new Yoshis Island 3, the music on that trailer stank to Yoshis island DS (as well as the graphics) anyway

Yoshi's Island DS is actually OK in my book. My biggest complaint about that game is the use of the screens (you have to keep switching between the two to find hidden stuff), the use of multiple babies (as if the game isn't difficult enough already) and the fact that the game has a story in the first place (learn from Yoshi's Touch & Go, can ya?). As far as the actual gameplay goes, it does what a Yoshi's Island game does: being incredibly difficult.
I'm actually a bit disappointed that both Yoshi's Island 3 and Mario & Luigi 4 feature mostly 2D graphics. I'm glad that they aren't resticting the system to 3D titles, but I historically don't like 2D sprites slapped on 3D scenes (as seen in Mario Kart 64) or simply making 2D graphics pop out and call it 3D.
A Link to the Past 2 seems good to me. I once played the first game, ran through several dungeons in one go, then forgot to save. I haven't touched the first game since then, even though I know it's an excellent title. Well, time to give it a try again. And I'm glad to see that 2D Zelda continues to exist. This is one series that I don't want to see completely changed to 3D, because I'm awful at playing 3D action adventure games (the same applies to Metroid).
Also, I like how Mairo and Luigi are quarreling in the background of the JP Nintendo Direct.

Watched the trailers. Hear my thoughts!
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.
This looks good. I love how they've managed to keep the cartoony style of the 2D sprites even after moving everything to 3D. Great looking animation, some insane ideas (being in Luigi's dream? Potentially insane!) and I can't wait to fail to beat it, like all the other games in the series!
Yoshi's Island 3DS
No no no no no!! I didn't watch the stream live, so I heard about this before I saw it. Yeah, I was cautiously excited. I understand Artoon no longer exists (hooray!) so how bad could it really be?
This looks worse than Yoshi's Island DS! Yes, it has clearly "uprezzed" the SNES graphics into smooth/3D shapes, but look at that collision detection, look at how the camera moves when Yoshi lands on platforms, look at how the vibrant backgrounds obscure the foreground. This is clearly being made by someone who doesn't know what they're doing!
Seriously... Yoshi's Island was a masterpiece. The backgrounds were stylistic, while the characters were well-animated and cartoony. This? The use of the crayon backgrounds has been mishandled terribly, while the character animation is terrible!
I'm under no illusions that no Yoshi's Island sequel will live up to Yoshi's Island, because it's been done! And the first game was so good because it was a fresh take on an existing series. But to get it so regularly and consistently wrong is embarrassing! Hell, Yarn Yoshi looks better than this, and I thought that looked very floaty (a bit like Yoshi's Story).
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2
OK, so Miyamoto had said he'd wanted to do this for a while, taking us back to the SNES world for some reason. At least it's not a 3D remake...
Instant reaction is that the graphics look "eh". They're not bad, but they lack style or substance - like plastic recreations of the sprites. The original's sprite art was mostly colourful and cute, but the manual art painted a much bigger, more in-depth world. The imagination filled in the gaps, and even though we saw one thing, we aspired to see another in our mind's eye.
This seems like a real missed opportunity to bring that old artwork to life. Instead, it looks like a game about gachapon capsule toys.
Nevertheless, the gameplay looks like it will control like the DS games, but set in the SNES world, and that's a good thing. I'm curious how they will make such a small world feel big again (if they can). However, the touted turn-into-a-drawing mechanic looks really bad, and I foresee many lazy puzzles that will use it.
I won't comment on anything else, because this is the meat of it. However, I will say that when I first played Luigi's Mansion 2 about 18 months ago, it looked bad and the controls were awful. And that game is fucking amazing. It was also repeatedly delayed. I hope similar delays happen to Yoshi's Island and Zelda 2. I really don't want to play another terrible Yoshi's Island game when they should all be so good...

I YIDS felt pretty sloppy put together to me, the game reuses graphics from the original and Yoshis Touch and Go and also uses new stuff, those three elemenst dont mix well (and most of the stuff done by Artoon seems crapy looking, just look at this spriters-resource.com/ds/yoshisislandds/sheet/4824 Artoon just didn´t comprehend the feeling of the game, also the music seemed uninspired, just hear the new castle music nothing compared to the original finally, the level design remind me more of Sonic than the original YI with tons of points of no return, The game might be Ok, might be better than some third party stuff, but to me felt like a Fangame, and a lousy one EDITED: to remove forum destroying image and thank Fry for telling me that Artoon no longer exists, hope this game is not being made by whats left of it.

I really don't want to play another terrible Yoshi's Island game when they should all be so good... I've seen a lot of examples where long-delayed games end up looking good. So eah, I do hope those two get delayed too. In terms of graphics and music, I seriously doubt any of the subsequent YI games will best the original. I don't know why are they going to Yoshi's Story graphics. I don't like that - it gives no visually clear hitbox unlike conventional crisp-clear sprites or actual 3D graphics. All it does is to give a false pseudo-3D impression while hampering gameplay. But at least playing this won't seem as tedious as constantly switching screens and babies in Yoshi's Island DS. I'll wait and see how will M&L4's graphics turn out. At the minimum, the sprites' resolution should match the displayed size, as seen in games like FE13. I won't blame them for sticking to 2D graphics though; this is better than ending the M&L series because they can't handle 3D. And yeah, the wall puzzles in Zelda seems lazy. It's like they are taking it from Paper Mario, and I think they're including this as an excuse to change camera angle, because why else would they release it on a 3D system? </sarcasm> But I still like its overall graphical style.

You may know by now that Yoshi's Island is my favourite game ever.
Yoshi's Island DS gets more flak than it deserves. Its far from perfect - there are some real poor decisions in terms of level design, stylistic clashes (its a minor thing, but I can't get over the fact Yoshi rode in a rocket rather than transforming into one, when he's shown to transform into every other damn vehicle. Also, that kangaroo thing looks dumb as balls), and the music is pretty forgettable and/or bad. But it wasn't terrible. In fact, it was 'good'. Not great, sure, but 'good'.
That being said, I have no hype for Yoshi's Island 3DS. Visually, it looks fucking awful. Like a bad fan attempt at a remake. And it looks to be just a cheap imitation of elements from the original, with the STUNNINGLY FUCKING WONDERFUL OH GOD OH GOD HOLD ME I'M SO EXCITED addition of a giant fucking egg. Wow. Fucking brilliant. Is it fair to judge based on a tiny trailer? Of course not. But if that is the main thing they can find to show off in a trailer.... god help us. People bitched about YIDS's new features, such as the babies, but I thought that was a nice twist on the formula. But, I bet, since people complained about it, this will go back to a carbon copy of the original. Except worse. I'd rather a game that tries to do something at least a little different, but missteps because of it, than a vastly inferior carbon copy 15 years after the original.
Feel free to prove me wrong, Nintendo.
