I should probably carry on, myself. First year sales are a major milestone, but we don't have that yet. Most sources are only establishing September 2011 sales right now, which at 6.68 million sales, is in line with DS sales in that period, 6.65 million, and as previously stated, this is a catch-up: The 3DS stalled in its first quarter, even first week for a number of reasons (limited games, weak advertising, and a hefty price to name the ones I know off-hand.) "Ever" might be pushing it, but I'm pretty sure DiU was joking about, well, first week/first quarter sales.
We still need to see if the 3DS can hit 14.43 million come March, which is possible, but it's hard to say. But I will say this: We don't have the official global December figures yet. Yes, 8 million between Japan and US, but what're the full-globe sales? We don't have a number.
Speaking of, and to stay on topic...
-3DS sales reach 20 million by July.

Well, I'll put some more predictions here, because it seems fun to come up with stuff like this. <11> Valve will continue to fail to see what comes after 1 and 2. <12> Meet the Pyro will be available within 2012. <13> The best-selling Nintendo game will be a 2011 game (well, this is gonna take me some effort to verify by next year). <14> I will have at least 70 applications installed in my 3DS, consisting of mostly preview videos. (I got most free downloads but probably won't pay for anything until FE13 DLC is confirmed and available. I currently have 55.) <15> Final Fantasy XV officially announced. -Next Kirby game will be yet another seemingly recycled handheld title -Sure, there was Mass Attack, but the long-awaited Return to Dream Land made it at last. Wouldn't say Mass Attack is a recycled title, in the sense that it didn't recycle existing code on large scale (Nightmare in Dream Land --> Amazing Mirror --> Squeak Squad) and is a unique combination of existing elements (within Kirby series, anyway). Late ass happy new year! I'd make a best Nintendo games of 2011 thread, but then I remembered I only bought like 3 games so nevermind that - Xenoblade Chronicles and Pandora's Tower sell like shit over here, followed by a bunch of morons getting worked up/threatening that people should friggen buy it otherwise Nintendo will never listen to us agaaaaain - More really crappy Hudson/Taito wiiware/3Dsware games. Oh how far the mighty have fallen - I'm pretty much on the opposite side. I bought more games in 2011 than any other year ever. 10 games to be precise, 6 of them are bona fide 2011 games. - I'll probably act like like one of the morons you talk about (to a lesser extent) if you-know-what-game makes it to the overseas... - Lost any remaining hope on Taito ever since I saw Mawasunda. Can't say I liked anything Hudson made after the Nintendo 64 era either, except for maybe Mario Party 7, but the Mario Party team isn't in Hudson anymore (I heard they moved to Nd Cube after Konami decided Hudson would work on mobile games).

I would agree with this statement if it wasn't sexist as hell. Was that really necessary?. I'm sorry, I was very wrong to say such a thing, I don't know what came over me. There's nothing wrong with women being in 3D games. Cute.

Early bump because I can't wait to verify my predictions. I've been thinking of this thread for the whole year. Assuming no huge news in the remainder of the year...
1, Fire Emblem 13 WILL hit overseas, unlike Fire Emblem 12. (Dear Nintendo of America, this is your only chance to win back my almost nonexistent trust. I'm ready to go back to buying Japanese versions.) +1 Even though I did eventually get a JP 3DS for this exact reason.
2, As with the period before Wii, the home console side of Nintendo will be dead silent this year. +1 This one's pretty easy to guess. Mario Party 9 and Kirby Wii were the only big games for Wii.
3, Puzzles #15~21 will be released to HatPass Mii Plaza, and save data will be read by Team Fortress 2 3D Edition (the latter half is a joke). +1 There are currently 22 puzzles in Japan and 19 overseas. I'm going to predict that before this year ends, there will be 25 puzzles, with Paper Mario, Mario U and Nintendo Land added.
4, Wii U will come back with different specs (complete with multiple controllers), and Nintendo will stop saying how their future system is better than the previous generation of competitors. +1 Wii U was updated with the support of 2 gamepads and the pro controller was announced. Nintendo also stopped boasting the system's (nonexistent) superior power.
5, Announced for Wii U: Mario Party 10, Mario Kart U, WarioWare: Drawn, Wii Sports 3, more Mario/Square Enix crossover, and no main series Super Mario. +0 All wrong. No Mario Party, no Mario Kart, Wario got a gamepad-based party game, no Wii Sports, no Mario Hoops, and New SMB U was released.
6, Another Smash Bros official site that updates regularly before release. +0 Almost nothing's been said about the next Smash Bros, other than Sakurai stating obvious things like it won't feature 3D gameplay.
7, No news for: Star Fox, F-ZERO, Kirby (you deserve some rest after the late 2011 combo), Mario Golf & Golden Sun (because Camelot is understaffed and busy with Mario Tennis), Advance Wars, Metroid, Custom Robo, among more. +0.5 No Star Fox: check. No F-ZERO news: almost, but not entirely. No Kirby: wrong with his 20th anniversary campaign. Nothing from Camelot: check. No Advance Wars: check. No Metroid: not really, it got its screentime in Nintendo Land. No custom robo: why did I even list this out?
8, Shocking news: Pokémon generation 6 will not go full 3D. It will be a sprite/3D mix instead, like Black/White. +0.5 There's no gen 6 (what was I thinking, B/W was still new back then), but B2/W2 are for the original DS and featured sprites.
9, 3DS remains unhackable, enraging some hackers, and Nintendo's online service will go down temporaily. +0 3DS is still unhackable on the software side, but it's now possible to capture videos with special hardware added. No obvious sign of annoyed hackers, and Nintendo's online service was fine other than the chaotic Wii U launch.
10, Just for kicks: Miyamoto, for once, will not show up in E3 with a sword and shield. He will instead appear in a space suit, promoting Pikmin 3. +0.5 Miyamoto really didn't cosplay Link this time. He did wear a Pikmin 3-related item (a red Pikmin doll), but no space suit.
11, Valve will continue to fail to see what comes after 1 and 2. +1 Big hit!
12, Meet the Pyro will be available within 2012. +1 Another big hit!
13, The best-selling Nintendo game will be a 2011 game (well, this is gonna take me some effort to verify by next year). +0 Pokémon B2/W2 won big time. So nope, 2012 games won.
14, I will have at least 70 applications installed in my 3DS, consisting of mostly preview videos. (I got most free downloads but probably won't pay for anything until FE13 DLC is confirmed and available. I currently have 55.) +0 Nintendo seems to have switched to provide non-downloadable videos on eShop instead.
15, Final Fantasy XV officially announced. +0 No sign of FF15.
7.5 out of 15. My predictions were half-correct. Not bad.
Will post my 2013 predictions in new year.

Yeah, a bit too early, but I'll follow along too. -The Wii U will launch later into the summer with more big quality games (having learned from the mistakes of the 3DS launch). -Some more 3DS titles announced: WarioWare, new Zelda for 3DS, Majora's Mask 3D, Super Mario 3D Land 2 (with Yoshi and such), Kirby (...?) -Whatever the hell Retro's working on finally revealed: Either DKCR2 or something else. -The occasional 3DS firmware update. (This should keep up throughout the rest of the 3DS's lifespan) -Fall just now, not summer. And it at least launched with two sensible first-party games (Solid game that uses the gamepad to its fullest, and a Mario platformer) -Man, I blew this one. Let's see: --That's on the Wii U, but full-fledged stages instead of microgames. --Wrong, but that'll be for next year, hopefully. --Nope. --Didn't see two NSMBs in a row coming either. Oh well. --Not 3DS yet, but there's the 20th anniversary thing on the Wii. -Failed. This has to be for next year... -Sure, whatever. But the Wii U should see something more interesting in that regard.

3DS Sales reach 20 million by July June 2012 sales for the Nintendo 3DS were 19 million. September sales for it were 22.19 million. Projected sales per month indicate around 1 million sales per month during summer, meaning a good July estimate indicates I was right.
Majora's Mask 3DS announced. Just announced. Still nothing.
Kid Icarus Uprising released...in November. Half right: It did get released this year. In May. Teach me to be a smart-ass.
A new Tingle game will be announced to everyone who isn't American. Unless I missed the announcement because I'm American.
Smash 4 begins production. It'll take a couple years before we get real info. Why did I predict production starting on anything? That's always a retarded plan.
The Mario Sports pile doesn't stop from getting bigger. Perhaps Strikers 3? It did stop from getting bigger this year, it seems.
The future slowly starts being visible from the present. Damn. I was looking forward to Fruity Rainbow Asshole Factory.

1) The Last Story did come out thanks to XSEED! 2) The Wii U came out THIS year, so I was off the mark. 3) No word! 4) Nothing! 5) I think we can agree that this is pretty much the case at this point, although DSiWare and the occasional title keeps slipping on out. I'll make new predictions next year.

- Pokémon Battle Revolution sequel as an international Wii U launch title.
- Japanese release of Pokémon Gray Version (NA name) / Pokémon Grey Version (PAL name) featuring Whole Forme Kyurem. Still playable on the DS.
- 3DS Ambassador NES games all become 3D.
- Super Mario Sunshine 3D.
- No word on Smash at E3. No word on it at GDC. Only at Tokyo Game Show or something else later. No website yet, either.
- F-Zero X 3D. Sales make developers consider an actual new game in the series.
- New portable Zelda displayed at E3 2012, not to be released this year.
- New 3DS model announced at the end of the year.
- WarioWare U announced; first full multiplayer WarioWare game since Mega Party Games.
Also, Kirby 20th Anniversary <(°.°^) Kirby love everywhere. Virtual Console Kirby's Pinball, Kirby's Block Ball and Kirby's Dream Land 2. Maybe even a Crystal Shards 3D or an eShop Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble. And Kirby-themed Club Nintendo prizes. 1. LOL 2. LMAO! Interestingly, one year earlier, I believed there needed to be a Reshiram-like Kyurem and a Zekrom-like Kyurem, but somehow I kept predicting a lone 3rd version 3. Didn't happen, wtf? 4. No... And no further 3D remakes, not even the most wanted Majora's Mask. 5. This was so expectable, it shouldn't have been in my list. 6. Was I joking? I can't remember. 7. No, just Nintendo Land... And that doesn't count. 8. Wrong, because it was not only announced, but also released months earlier than the end of the year. 9. CORRECT, kind of. My currently most anticipated game perhaps... And Kirby love did happen, but Crystal Shards 3D and Tilt 'n' Tumble is too much to ask for.

Alright, time for new predictions! Last time I gt a 50% hit rate, which is not bad for pure speculation. Let's see...
<01> No F-ZERO, despite the series having appeared in some forms lately (embassador game, Nintendo Land...). Not even remakes. <02> Zelda for Wii U will be mentioned in some form. <03> E3 prediction: the next Super Smash Bros will be presented in video form, now that Sora is finally working on it. <04> No Metroid. It's not yet over its "rest period" after Other M's... well... impact to the series. <05> No 3D Mario. Mario is finally taking a hike from his main adventures, with games released in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and two times in 2012. <06> The Animal Crossing shortage won't happen in America or Europe. <07> Wii U games that use two GamePads will be out this year. <08> No news from Retro Studios. <09> It will finally be revealed what the "new Wii U game from Monolithsoft" will be. <10> HatPass Mii Plaza: by the end of 2013, there will be 30 puzzles. (Yeah, my last prediction of 25 puzzles failed. Why, Nintendo?)
One more not-quite-prediction: In 2013, I will buy more than just Luigi's Mansion 2 for 3DS. (I've bought only 1 3DS and 2 Wii games last year, so who knows how will it turn out this year?)

double post, sue me. 5 for 2012 'Wii U' drops 'Wii' branding, becomes the 'Nintendo U'. Has some major changes to set it further apart from the Wii so as to not cause brand confusion like with the DS/3DS. Thinking cosmetic changes, but also a significantly reduced emphasis on using Wii controllers, to the point where they become more like the Cube controllers on the Wii. (Memo to future me: I may have screwed you over with the last part) No revised 3DS this year, but people still hold out for it. I eventually cave and buy one towards the end of the year... the revision is announced a couple of months later, in super early 2013. The U has a super aggressive launch push with lots of hard hitters. From Nintendo, I'm thinking New SMB, a 'U Sports', a hardcore online focused multiplayer game (please please please F-Zero, but more likely a Metroid Universe based FPS), while GTAV is the big 3rd party title. (future me, the specific-ness may kill me) Nintendo spend their E3 really pushing U to the FPS crowd. Their really big thing is that they've organised a Timesplitters revival. Because why not. (future me, sorry again, this is actually ridiculous) Finally, a freebie for future me: People all over the internet go nuts with SSB4 speculation all year. It never, ever, lives up to these expectations (not that it releases this year anyway). I decided this year I wanted to make outlandish propositions, so that if they did come true, i was seen as a prophet. I was wrong. 1. Nintendo should've done this, but they're fucking retarded. By the way, I was chatting to two more people on NYE that thought I should get a Wii U for my Wii so we can play the new Mario. Fucking good marketing, Nintendo. 2. Wrong. Revision was announced, and I never bought any 3DS on account of there not really being any super duper compelling reason to do so. 3. Lawl. 4. Lawl. 5. Well duh, though I'd even say this wasn't as much as usual.

Ohyeah, I did one of these.
Well, guess Pokemon Conquest worked out in the end. Everything else was complete bull though!
Alright time to predict some shit: - We won't see a glimpse of Smash4 the entire year, just a mention that they're still working on it so sit down and shaddap - Pokemon Generation 6 starts leaking out, starters will be revealed, people never shut the fuck up about the first 151 being the über gen - Yeah there's a Yoshi WiiU game coming, but instead of some kickass 3D platformer it'll be a clunky FPS where players can use the tablet to stretch Yoshi's tongue in any precise way they want. Try to eat as many melons at once for maximum bonus points!! - Nester's Funky WiiU Bowling A bowling game starring Kirby and Dedede pins - Another old arcadey Nintendo franchise gets revived for a 3DSware release. Mach Rider? Yeah sure, why not. - Super Famicom Wars will finally be an import VC title and I will buy the shit out of it - A new Megaman Powered Up for 3DS! No, wait wait, sorry it's just a port of the PSP game. - WiiU has lost all major 3rd party support by the end of this year. My glass is half empty

Well, fuck, I forgot to make predictions for 2012, and I'm been forgetting to do the same for 2013, better late than never right?
- Super Mario Universe announced, Gamepad is used like in the old cancelled GCN version of Kirby Tilt n Tumble, when Mario falls off a stage on the TV, he lands on the Gamepad screen and controlled from there. (okay does this fun or stupid, maybe that's why the original concept was never released?) - Smash Bros 4 unveiled/teased, to be released in 2014 to coincide with the series 15th anniversary. - Miyamoto unveils a new Nintendo franchise based around cards/trading cards for Wii U. - Vitality Sensor returns . . . In some form . . . - "Rumble" stylus for 3DS unveiled. - No new entries in the F-Zero franchise . . . this year (hope I'm wrong on this). - First Valve game on Wii U will be a Left 4 Dead prequel. - Game & Wario will be a forgotten gem for the Wii U of this year. - Nintendo finally stops selling the NDS and focuses production on 3DS hardware to increase 3DS uptake. - First Wii U game to use 2 Gamepads unveiled and most likely a little underwhelming, and Gamepads will be purchasable individually, this causes uninformed casual consumers en mass to buy "tablets controller for the original Wii." - Wii U to 3DS connection also shown off. - Exclusive content for Wii U version of GTA 5. - Pokemon X/Y 3D graphics end of making battles longer due to long battle animation times. - New Yoshi game from Good Feel. Also revealed to be related to the fruit/vegetable gags from Nintendo Direct. - Rayman Legends current delay, allows the NFC features back in. - Some (new) Wii U game uses the NFC feature. - EA gives shitty "minimal support" for Nintendo hardware compared to other consoles. - Zelda for 3DS. - Virtual Console for Wii U and 3DS get expanded, select VC games for Wii U get Gamepad support, and GBA games come to 3DS. - More new Nintendo franchises as smaller teams helmed by Miyamoto get greenlit.
EDIT: Screw it, here's some more.
- Wii Sports U announced, this causes media attention to focus on the Wii U as casuals flock to buy Wii U. - Mario Kart 8/Wii U announced, has 6 player multiplayer with two Gamepads, has DLC for new stages.
It's a given fact that PS3/360 successor are going to be unveiled this year so . . .
- . . . next Playstation will be called Playstation Four (not PS4 due to death superstition in Asian regions), an Eyetoy and a hybrid of the PS Move and Dual Shock controller with it. The controller will have biometrics support. - Next 360 (not guessing a name) will feature a new "better" version of Kinect, that everyone hardcore gamer will still hate, and also some sort of projector system, next controller will be a split controller with half a controller unit held in each hand (like the Wii), allows better control of "arm flailing" Kinect titles.
- Valve's Steambox hardware finally unveiled.
Okay, I just made a really large amount of predictions this year.

One final reminder bump, I know it's later than usual, but if you want to do predictions or add new ones you might want to do now since it's still January and also to compensate for the Wii U game updates from last weeks Nintendo direct.
