The original PC-88 version of Ys II is coming to Switch on March 14. So, now the complete story will available. (In Japanese, of course.)

OK, impressions.
So, yeah, no Hi-Fi Rush for Switch. Xbox later confirmed it for PS5 (along with Sea of Thieves). Switch is getting Grounded and Pentiment. To be honest, I'm not interested in any of these games.
Monster Hunter Stories and Epic Mickey: Rebrushed were surprises. Monster Hunter Stories 2 was a game that seemed to come and go, and I don't see it talked about at all now. I played the demo, but never finished it. I'm not normally into monster-collecting RPGs, but I'm still a little curious about this particular series.
I enjoyed Epic Mickey on the Wii, but I have no desire to play it again.
All the Rare games added to NSO was a nice surprise, but I guess I should've expected it. I suppose we can expect to see more in the future.
I never played either of the Endless Ocean games on Wii, but I'm a little curious about the series. I'll keep my eye on it.
The two games I'm most interested in are Unicorn Overlord and Contra: Operation Galuga, both of which have demos. I've already played the demo for Contra. I enjoyed it, but it feels quite janky. I hope they smooth it out either before launch or shortly after.
Unicorn Overlord looks gorgeous, and seems to be like Ogre Battle with some Fire Emblem mixed in. I don't expect to get it (or Contra, for that matter) at launch. Waiting for sales is something I'm trying to get back into the habit of.
Overall, it was a decent direct.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and Japan got Mother 3 on NSO.

Here it is:
After all the leaks, there were still some interesting surprises. But perhaps the biggest surprise was what wasn't shown: the one game everyone assumed was basically guaranteed.
I'll post more detailed impressions a little later.

Here is the Legend of Zelda concert that was originally supposed to be part of Nintendo Live 2024.
Additionally, here's a close look at the Tears of the Kingdom statues that were intended to be at the show.

Ys I is coming to Switch on February 15, but it's not the version you think. It's the original PC-8801 version as part of the EGG Console series. ( Source) Probably not the ideal way to experience this game compared to the far more polished Ys I & II Chronicles, but it'll be cheap.

The Switch version of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ has been confirmed for a Western release this Summer by Aksys Games.
Still not sure I'm interested in this, but glad to see it's finally coming to the West. I wonder what took so long.

Online services for Wii U and 3DS are ending on April 8 at 4pm PDT. The last chance to merge a Nintendo Network ID with a Nintendo Account will be on March 11 at 10pm PDT. This allows any leftover funds on the Wii U or 3DS eShops to be merged with the Switch eShop. Here is Nintendo of America's support page about it.

John Linneman of Digital Foundry has done a tech review of Ys X, comparing the PS5, PS4 Pro, and Switch versions of the game. As you'd expect, the PS5 version performs the best, and the Switch version performs the worst.
It's a good review, though, since he considered Ys X one of his favorite games of last year, and the video also includes a short history segment.

Evie, you clearly put a lot of thought into your posts, but they can get so extensive that it can be hard to take everything in and know how to respond to it. If I'm understanding what you mean by a "class" of video games, then I guess I might add "software toy". I would consider a software toy as something that might have goal-oriented elements, but is really meant to be played and experimented with in a more open-ended capacity. It could be something like creativity software (the aforementioned Mario Paint), a simulation (SimCity), or the infamous Wii Music. I remember there is a YouTuber I used to watch (unfortunately I can't remember her channel name) who is an old aged woman. When she inquired about video games, there was (naturally) an assumption that she wanted family friendly games, but really she wanted to play more stereotypical 'hardcore' games with depth like RPGs. Are you thinking of Britta Food4Dogs? She's not the only senior woman on YouTube who plays and collects video games, but she's one of the more well known.
