No, I mean for the final 3 characters I predict Koopa, Monty Mole and Petey. Monty Mole and Petey would be heavyweights, Koopa and Dry Bones would be light and Waluigi, Daisy, Shy Guy and Rob would be middle. That would make it 5L, 6M, 5H. Pretty even, and also means that there is at least one character in each weight division who hasn't been playable in a kart game before.

NOTE: SPOILERS, SPOILERS AND MORE SPOILERS.Forget Doomships, look what else Nintendo has put in there: Yes, its the Koopa Klown car! In plane form! Sure, it looks slightly different, but who cares? But wait, there's more: Rob's kart? And take a look at some of the other karts: Another race car: Dry Bones' Bone Mobile: Daisy's Mini Car: A tractor: A safari car: ..and, last but definately not least, a low-rider tricycle!: This is going to be very, very awesome.

Some pictures of ROB are starting to surface: Does that 1/36 on the last picture mean ROB has 36 karts?

I like the way that everyone is totally out of proportion with respect to the karts. Honestly, It made me laugh when I first saw those pics.

Actually I hoped them to replace Dry Bones with someone else.

Dry Bones is cool. Koopa better be in there, but, if not, Dry Bones will almost make up for it.
And it looks like Rob might be able to use every kart! Low rider Trike ROB, anyone?

I'm really looking forward to this game, as it really means many important things. First of, it’s the first game with online gaming form Nintendo in over 5 (or something) years. Secondly, it is a game that takes a classic game series, and really give it what could be the ultimate compilation based on all the content in there. I mean, the graphics look awesome, the levels are many and have huge variation, many levels, new and several old, a great collection of old and new items, and all the characters and their carts look great

Wow. I never in a million years would have expected ROB as a driver. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the next Smash Bros.

Yeah, looks like it might only be 4, which is a shame, but something I can get over.

You know, the naming of the standard karts are realy funny.
They are called "Standard (character name shorten to 2 letters)" - which makes Peach's kart be "Standard PC" and Daisy's to be "Standard DS" (standard = platinum colour?)!
Such a laughable name...... DS really means more than DS.

Yeah, final clarifications on everything discussed here so far (for those without the game).
SPOILERS!!
You start with a standard Kart and a special Kart for each character, each with slightly different stats. You later unlock a third kart for each character, and later on you also unlock the ability to use all karts for all characters.
There are four secret characters: Waluigi, Dry Bones, Daisy and ROB the Robot. Despite me thinking the opposite would be true, Dry Bones has become my favourite racer.
There are two racing modes: Nitro and Retro (remember that Nitro was the codename for the DS). Each has four cups (two playable from the start), each with four tracks. Win Gold Trophies to unlock the other cups. You have to do this for each engine class.
The Retro Cup's tracks are divided up in the following way: Race 1: SNES track Race 2: N64 track Race 3: GBA track Race 4: GCN track
New items include the Bullet Bill (shoots you along at high speed, knocking anyone out of your way) and the Blooper (blinds other players by squirting ink on their top-screen).
