I am looking forward to it. 16 classic tracks (from every game except, I presume, MK Arcade GP) and 16 new tracks... online races, and apparently some kind of stat-gathering for comparison against your colleagues.
AWESOME! ;D

Actually, other than the 8-character-only limitation and the fact that being 64-bit (not as good as GC graphics, I have to admit), I like this game.
I have been buying Mario Kart games, and I don't think I'll skip this one. Especially now that I've looked how the Rainbow Road looks.
Though I think it somehow resembles the Mario Kart 64 one....

Great! Now I've seen them all, and now I am even more eager to buy it. Despite the poor graphics (To be honest, yes, it doesn't have great graphics), yet this is going to be the focus of the coming month!

Actually, other than the 8-character-only limitation Secret characters have been confirmed, so its more than 8. For example, in download play anyone without a cartridge has to be a Shy Guy (like you had to be Yoshi in MKSC's download play), which probably means he's a secret character, and there's a course named after Waluigi (Waluigi Flipper, the pinball based track), so I'd think he would be unlockable, too. And who cares if the graphics aren't that good? MKDD's were nothing that great, anyway.

I think he meant 8 players rather than 8 characters (although only 2-4 when using online, which is a shame).
But yes, secret characters AND secret cars. I'm SO gonna love this game till its wheels fall off ;D

I think he meant 8 players rather than 8 characters Nah, I was really mistaken that there were not any secret characters or so. Is 8-player the limit of download play or wireless play?

I think 8-player games are single- and multi-cart play, but if you don't have a cart then you have to race as Shy Guy.

If you don't have a cart you get to be Shy Guy and can't have a custom decal, plus download play can only use 8 race tracks and 3 battle arenas.

Which means every player should have the game if they want to fully emjoy the game. A good way besides trial versions to advertise, I would say.
And how could DIU know all these things? Unless the Austrialn version is out already..... but it's not!

From another site I've seen, it appears that every character has a second cart. Luigi has this awesome vacuum cart.

Unfortunatley, no, the Australian version isn't out yet (hopefully on the 17th, though! If not 25th at the latest). However I like Mario Kart and have been looking for info whenever I can.
And DK has the best kart design ever - a Rambi kart! As well as that, Mario has the Formula 1 style racer, Toad has a mushroom, Peach has this big, I dunno, tractor thing (in the Rainbow Road pic in the first post), Wario's got a black car similar to the one he had in DD, Yoshi apparently has an egg, and Bowser apparently has a claw (haven't seen those last two).

Sweet, a Rambi kart ;D
Though are you sure it's not Wario's purple cadillac? That would make more sense.

Wario's kart looks like..... Wario's kart, in the pics that I've seen so far. But the DS one is a lot smaller!
Well, So far my favourite is Luigi's Poltergust design kart.
