It's not really "adding" to the NES list when it's already in the NES list up there But it is an interesting one. There's a website with lists of cancelled NES games, and transcriptions from news bytes and features in magazines. Return of Donkey Kong was one of them, and I read with interest that you could play as Donkey Kong as well as Mario. I wonder why so many Donkey Kong games get cancelled. Donkey Kong no Ongaku Asobi, Return of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Racing, Donkey Kong Coconut Crackers, Diddy Kong Pilot (okay, okay, those last three are easily explained, but still...) Another trend is that HAL Laboratories has a lot of bad luck in getting their games finished: Kirby's Air Ride, Earthbound 64, Jack 'n' Bean, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble GC, Battland, Luna Blaze... maybe they're just too ambitious for a small developer.

Don't forget Stage Debut (GCN), Marionette (GCN), and Twelve Tales: Conker 64 (N64). Also, it's a common misconception to confuse "never released at all" with "Japan only".

No falling into that trap for me, with my complete Japanese coverage of Nintendo games But yes, Twelve Tales is going in... and I suppose it's time Marionette joined it (what on Earth was THAT all about!?) but not Stage Debut... at least not yet. Last E3 several Nintendo people dropped hints that they were still working on it... then we saw that GC Camera logo Nintendo copyrighted last autumn. So it may still turn up.

There's something at www.nintendojo.com/ about Marionette. By the way, Diddy Kong Pilot was a Rare game being released by THQ. THQ released the late Sabreman in 2003, two years after the original release date. DKP was released by THQ as "Banjo Pilot". But they are only a shadow of what was there.

Yes, I'm aware of what all of Rare's games have become now. Don't forget that Donkey Kong: Coconut Crackers has become It's Mr. Pants!

You may also want to do a page on the N64 game Body Harvest. It originally started out as a Nintendo-funded project, but halfway into development Ninty dropped their support. DMA decided to continue development and got Midway to publish it. I think it at least deserves a mention, as Ninty was originally slated to publish it.

I agree that it deserves a mention somewhere. I read an interview with the developers somewhere saying they were invited to NCL Headquarters and spent some time working in the same room as the StarFox 64 development team before it was released.
How cool is that!

Jump Burger wasn't really cancelled. It was as you said was released as Short Order & Eggsplode. So why do you have it on your Cancelled Software list Fyrguy?

Same reason I have Ura-Zelda on that list even though that's been released on a GC compilation disk... the standalone game was announced and cancelled - and then released later as something else. That counts as a cancelled game to me.
Should I remove Dinosaur Planet because that was released as StarFox Adventures? No.

Cancelled e-Reader titles:
Soccer-e Ice Hockey-e Volleyball-e F-1-e
Then the whole Game & Watch series was cancelled once Nintendo canned the e-R. Only Manhole-e saw the light of day.

I never read about a fourth set of e-reader games. Very cool. Nintendo Power did a multi-page write of the 'upcoming' Game & Watch series though. I'll have to look back and find that article.

I heard about F-1 Race-e, because it was coming out in the US, despite the original being Japan only. Where did that list of e-Reader games come from?
And yes, if anyone can find any more information on the cancelled G&W-e cards (which ones were cancelled, for instance) that would be excellent as well.
