I'm using Chrome. Boo's files in his thread downloaded fine, but for some reason I can't download this one.
And yeah I felt it was time for a change. This name is based on an obscure Japanese RPG in the Wizardry/Might & Magic clone. It was so ridiculous I had to keep it.

Readed this topic through- My most faves were Smash Sisters and the stash of ideal Punch-Out fan characters- They really fit that "cartoony" atmosphere of those series. HOWY SMOKES. King DDD. (-l_l-)
I could also imagine Arle Nadja from Puyo Puyo to be in S.S.S as one more third party character- She maybe might represent another part of Sega. (And Compile too)

There was a fanart online somewhere that I think had her as one of the characters, but I might be wrong. There's also this one fanart of Peach, Lip, Torchic, and Tiki from Fire Emblem all fighting on Final Destination, but I can't find it again. It was kinda cool, and it was gave me the crazy idea for the game.

THAT??? I remember seeing it once in Uncyclopedia. You mean this? Looks like there's no Peach, instead there's Kumatora, but anyway.I once thought of doing a moveset for Arle, basing it on her Madou Monogatari-skills- (-''-) I remember that there's this topic in this forum that let's you submit the movesets.

I guess this is when Google Docs helps. BTW, why did they include a Torchic in the picture? 'Cause she's a chick?

Presumably to go along with Leaf, the female Pokemon trainer.

I guess this is when Google Docs helps. BTW, why did they include a Torchic in the picture? 'Cause she's a chick? Ah Google Docs. Never leave home without it myself. EDIT: Well now that I got a chance to read the thing I gotta say I liked what I saw, but I felt that some of the roster could stand to be dropped, Flip. Daisy, Birdo, and Wendy are pushing it for Mario, even though I know you wanted to have a female counterpart for EVERY character in the game. Syrup, Midna, Veran, Dark Samus, Katt, Lily Flyer and Titania all come off as unnecessary to me. You also have far too many third party characters than is realistically possible for a game like this (don't quote me on that one, I'm just making an educated guess). As for the rest of it, I think you put way too much stock in the story behind Adventure Mode. Isn't it enough to just have them progress through the stages and fight each other/the bosses without all this needless detail? Also, instead of just having generic worlds I think you should've had stages actually themed after the characters' respective games. That was one of the things I loved about Melee's Adventure Mode and not seeing it return in tSsE was a major disappointment for me. I think that for a handheld and such a niche title, things could stand to be kept a little simpler, with like one rep per franchise instead of up to four. Also, the inclusion of "Madame Hand" is stupid, as if Mrs. Hand weren't bad enough.

Haha, I appreciate the criticisms. This is just smattering of ideas, so obviously if this ever *were* to become a game, things would be cut or altered.
And I LOVE having a huge roster. I wanted to do synonyms, like you said, but there were just too many ridiculous and kinda cool ideas for the game. I know ChuChu and Airan and Hikari would NEVER be playable, but c'mon: somebody has to conceptualize it. As far as third party... who knows what would actually happen!
Love that Google Docs work, thanks. Also thanks for finding that fanart!

I haven't posted here in a while, so figured I'd throw down a few quick ideas: one for a Zelda game, and one hypothetical "what if?/AU" piece for a game a friend and I wrote up about a ways back (Nintendo vs Capcom). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legend of Zelda: Temple of the MoonHonestly, the title was just made up on the spot. Since all Zelda ideas follow a gameplay gimmick, I always thought it would be awesome to see a Zelda game with "survival" as the main focus behind the gameplay. Done in "Toon" style, Link is sailing with Tetra and the King of Red Lions when the party sees an island in the distance lit by a mysterious red moon. Investigating closer, they are suddenly and sharply attacked by a hiding "imperial" fleet of ships that not only commandeer the pirate ship, but send Link and the KoRL crashing into rocks. Link washes up on shore and can only find the remaining mast and sail of his boat; the rest of the pieces were destroyed in the scuffle. Deciding the island is too large to explore without any of his gear, he makes camp for the night. The game is like all the other 3D Zeldas, but now gameplay is affected by things like day, night, time, weather, fatigue, and phases of the moon. Link has minimal access to the island at first and is limited by what he can build with materials he finds. You have in addition to the usual heart meter a "Fatigue" meter and a "Skill" level. The higher Link's skill the more complex things he can build, and the better items he can pull off of enemies or the environment. Skill breaks into separate categories of Tools, Cooking, and Treasure: Tools allows him to build things like spears, hammers, and fishing rods; Cooking allows him to cook and prepare better food; and Treasure lets him become better as prospecting, mining, etc. As Link runs around and expends energy to construct or cook, he "fatigues" and wastes his meter. By resting or eating food, he can restore his energy. Depending on how active OR how long Link has been "awake," the fatigue meter will burn faster or slower. There are items that will mend this (coffee beans, for example), but for the most part the game is a balancing act between how much Link can accomplish in a day and how tired you can let him get. At the end of each day, Link needs to return to a campsite and rest before the island "shadow beasts" attack him. Being attacked sucks because they steal food, tools, shells (island currency) and other stuff--Link wakes up in a daze at he nearest camp missing all his gear if this happens. As the game progresses, Link can make campsites all over the island and begin to explore new parts, making it more like a traditional Zelda game. He regains lost items (firstly and most importantly the sword and shield) quickly, but others he has to make (boomerang) or will be rewarded with in dungeons (bombs). The pieces of the KoRL slowly appear as rewards and drive the quest throughout the game as well. Link has a special pocket watch he gets early on that records important dates, moon phases, and of course the time. As you get further in the game, "shadow beasts" stop appearing and Link can essentially explore indefinitely thanks to the powers of his watch. As the lunar phases shift, you will find that a new moon causes the worst monsters to appear while a full moon is generally a calm evening. Moon phases also affect tides, animal behaviors, and Link's magical abilities he receives later on. The mystical item of the game, "Mirror of Selene," reacts to moonlight and allows Link to light up areas, detect magic, fend off shadow beasts, and talk to his "partner." There are two tribes on the island: the tiki-men like Tokka and the cat-like Razar (hehe). Tokka are similar to Amazon tribes and will trade certain goods for shells and teach tricks/skills relative to their culture; Razar are more Polynesian and therefore have cultural norms and abilities that match their own selves. The third tribe on the island, discovered after the second dungeon, are the "Blue Men," people with dark blue skin and orange hair who live within a massive citadel on the center of the island (and the culprits who kidnapped Tetra, to natch). Sparing plot details, reflections play a large role in the game as well--Link communicates with otherworldly island denizens through glass mirrors, puddles of water, and his magical mirror. His partner, a girl named Midna, lives on the other side of the mirror and prompts him on his quests throughout the island to restore the "Great Mirror" for the unassuming queen of the Bluemen, Varyn. The great king, Xantos, has been missing and in his wake she has been leading the people to "find him" by completing their great mirror. Link, a true-blue survivor, enters the Temple of the Moon to solve the riddles of the mirror and the great big island. Wonder what happens...? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nintendo vs Capcom: Red Arremer TransformationsYears back, a friend and I conceptualized a Nintendo and Capcom crossover fighter that pretty much took the casts of Melee and Capcom Jam and had them duke it out with some new, unique faces in the mix. The roster needed work, obviously, but we came up with a list of Midnight Bliss forms and, later, forms for being defeated by Red Arremer (a la SNK vs Capcom Chaos). Being defeated by Red Arremer transforms your character into a monster, usually a type of Japanese youkai but, in some cases, a reference to horror series such as Ghosts 'n Goblins. This is the list we more or less came up with together. Feel free to add more characters! - Mario - mustachioed tanooki (ref. Mario 3)
- Luigi - mustachioed frog man (ref. Mario 3)
- Peach - "magical girl"-style witch, broom included
- Bowser - Chinese dragon, his face intact
- Yoshi - ghost lantern, droops a long tongue
- Wario - Zombie Wario (ref. Wario Land series)*
- DK - "King Kong" style classic DK
- Link - Oni-Link (ref. Majora's Mask)**
- Zelda - oni-baba
- Sheik - spider woman, with six arms, many eyes, and long tongue
- Ganondorf - feral beast Ganon (ref. Twilight Princess)
- Samus - SA-X "creature" (ref. Metroid Fusion)
- Fox McCloud - werewolf
- Captain Falcon - demon rider, basically a flaming skull bike thing
- Ness - "mental patient" Ness
- Kirby - matter eating beast, a fanged stomach
- Meta Knight - possessed sword and mask
- Pit - demonic wheel/"Ophanim"
- Mike - zombie ostrich (ref. Star Tropics)
- Mr. Game and Watch - Missingno (ref. Pokemon)
- Pikachu - sickle weasel
- Jigglypuff - pennangalan, a floating head with entrails
- Mewtwo - beholder
- Lyn - Ashura
- Marth - headless armor
- Alternate Characters/Costumes...
- Metal Mario - mecha tanooki wearing shell (ref. Mario 3)
- Daisy - plant woman, growing from rose like a lamia
- Giga Bowser - Chinese dragon w/ different palette
- Giant DK - mecha King Kong
- Vampire Wario - Bela Lugosi-style Dracula
- Young Link - Deku/Zora/Goron Link cycle**
- Phantom Ganon - 8-bit Moblin
- Armorless Samus - "Phazon Zombie" (ref. Metroid Prime 2)
*Vampire Wario is an alt. character (Wario with Demetri's supers)**Randomly these characters may become "Bunny Link" from ALttP

In response to Smash Sisters: The idea in itself does sound pretty fun, but Man-Frog was right on most of it. What I'm less keen on is that most of what you went with are but simple, seemingly lazy genderbendings of the male fighters when they could have much more different moves. (I heard you on that one, but...Mona as a Wario clone? Come on, man...) What I did like is that you assigned the "shop" roles to lesser-known characters. If anyone like that's gonna make an appearance in some manner, that would be a good position for them. This should even be applied to other minor characters in another Smash Bros. Also, would all these characters retain their original respective looks, or all go with an SD cartoony style of some sort? (That is what SNK did with these kinds of games, right?) In essence, the majority of it comes off as what would be *coughcough* Sigurd Hosenfeld's ultimate dream. Furthermore, he'd be the only one who would even bother to buy it. And of course, this isn't really gonna happen and we know it, but what matters in the end is that you had your fun coming up with it. And that I'm sure you did.

Came out of retirement just to comment on this. Uh... yeah. I was incredibly lazy. But it was more in the spirit of this game SHOULD exist not so much "I will run out and program this game." No need to get ALL muddied in details when it's sort of... more superfluous than me already wasting time coming up with the game in the first place. MAN.
