Andrew Dickman is pretty amazing. He's been around for years (and did that Mega Man Robot Master interview video that's been floating around for years). He's also one of the most popular people on deviantArt and still does loads of fanart. Check out his gallery, it's pretty cool ;D

There was also SilverLimit, who I miss dearly. He had some amazing fake sprites of over a dozen Robot Masters, all incredibly great ideas. There was Devil Man, Rat Man, Ghost Man, Storm Man, as a few of the ones I can recall... He pulled all his stuff some time ago and basically vanished from the web, more or less to be forgotten :/

Why do people disappear off the internet? Does it really become that much of a problem dealing with the uh... "diverse" population?
You think I could become famous if I got a DeviantART account upon getting into college? I have some pretty big plans for the future in terms of my art. You guys never did see any of it, but that's mainly because of my lack of a scanner.

I just do Deviantart for fun. And to have some place for people to see my work. I don't really care for fame. It corrupts.

I've always thought that fame on the internet really wasn't as worth it as fame in the real world, though. Different beasts, they are.

MEGA MAN: SAVIOR ------------------------------------------ Taking a page from the Darkstalkers games, MM:Savior is the next in my own sub-series of Mega Man games. This time around, the gameplay is even more modified and the game even larger. Think the ideas for Mega Man Countdown crossed with X7, Goemon's Great Adventure, and Metroid Fusion... and you have this game. Hoo boy...
Not even a few months after the last defeat of Dr. Yaku (who was last seen in a straightjacket screaming in an asylum), a new International Space Station goes into orbit around the moon. A team of scientists and engineers live aboard this station and the world watches as world leaders pick 8 top robot assistants from around the globe to be sent to space to help them in their day-to-day living. The astronauts will be living entirely off the space station, eating and sleeping there for many years until their research is complete.
Dr. Light and Dr. Cossack, old friends, both celebrate as their own robot submissions are boarded onto pods to be sent into space. Mega Man, now reunited with his brother Protoman for good, watches in awe. The future of man and robot, it seems, will be written in space. And maybe some day, with the technology these scientists develop out there, robots and humans will be one.
The world watches in joyous celebration, and, of course, something goes horribly wrong...
The archnemesis of this game is an alien presence who calls himself Oni-Kiyoshi, and his emblem is a big fat "O." He looks like a crazy kabuki dancer, and he basically is, wearing wooden sandals, long red hair, white makeup, and oni horns. He introduces himself to the members of the space station as an "alien emperor," who wants to "collect all the pretty people and their technology." He sabotages the station, takes the humans hostage, and turns the robots against humanity by giving them control of the ship. Of course, Earth's only hope is Mega Man and friends and the team sets out to stop the alien menace, finish off the new Robot Masters, keep the station from crashing into earth, and find the hostages!
Gameplay remains, in part, the same. The graphics are now full 3D but in a 2D plane, so the characters still move the same as they always have. Stages, however, have curving or branching paths similar to Tomba 2 or Goemon's Great Adventure, and there are some segments that require the characters to move around in full 3D--including boss fights. 3D controls are similar to the 2D, however, targeting for shots is now done somewhat automatically in a fashion like Jet Force Gemini. You can, though, hold down a button to aim in which case you can still move around using the second control stick but aim with the primary. 3D sections are also prevalent in the station itself, which now behaves like a sprawling overworld to explore. Robot Masters are selectable from a map screen, similar to the past, but the player is also free to roam the space station as they search for items, purchase powerups, and free hostages. There are minor enemies in this overworld as well, and Robot Master stages may also be accessed this way (often leading to "back entrances" or secret areas within the stages). That said, most of the 3D does remain within the overworld and the main game itself consists of largely 2D environments.
Like Countdown, players are ranked on how well they did in the levels. Time still exists, but it's for score and not much else. They are also rewarded Zennies that may be traded in for secrets and other goodies. Rather than hunting for crystals, now players can find hidden CD's Mega Man and Bass style as well as Gold Disks which will give you a better ending if they're all collected. There are also three hidden keys in the game necessary for one of the better kept secrets, so players must hunt those down as well.
As you play you will also come across hostages. They are in predetermined locations, but some are very hard to get to. By rescuing hostages you up your score/rank and are awarded bonuses. Hostages also add up the quality of your ending, though once one is rescued they no longer appear in the stage.
By hunting, you can also find the secret 8 Robot Masters. Similar to Countdown, this game has hidden within the 8 Robot Masters from Mega Man 2. These do not give you weapons, but they are still fun to fight and require you to use your noggin to find within the game.
Playable characters remain the same almost to a "T." There's Mega Man, Bass, Protoman, Dirge, and Duo all still available from the getgo. Newcomer Roll is unlockable once you beat the game and pay the Zennies to get her to fly to the station. She plays like a watered down Mega Man: she can't slide or charge. However, Roll is able to use Rush like her brother and can equip a deceptively powerful broom for close-range attacks. She also doesn't need Weapon Energy for Master Weapons, so she's an interesting character all-around. The only other secret characters are incredibly hidden: Chun-Li and Arthur. Chun-Li relies on her Street Fighter abilities to take down enemies and lacks any other abilities (beyond a super jump and a wall kick, MvC style). Arthur plays just like you would image him to. He even collects his OWN "Master Weapons" from enemies: his Ghosts 'N Goblins Subweapons! Both characters require an exorbitant amount of Zenny to unlock, but both are worth it for the lulz.
This game has a slew of unlockable content, but first... the Robot Masters!
...Robot Masters... *JUDGE MAN -- Bookkeeping and Law-Abiding Robot -- a stern robot who always adheres to authority, his favorite hobby is reading a good classic to the crew; appears in the alternate Battle Network timeline ...Home Country: Spain ...Weapon: Book Shield, a spinning tome that takes hits as it quickly rotates around Mega Man; can be charged to fire three books *GRID MAN -- Athletics Robot -- a football phenom who gets really rowdy at bars, he secretly has a passion for teaching gymnastics; appears in alternate Battle Network timeline ...Home Country: USA ...Weapon: Grid Tackle, a charged tackle that flies into enemies *SURF MAN -- Aquaculture Robot -- an expert with fish and sealife, he enjoys hanging-ten with the crew in the artificial ocean habtitat ...Home Country: New Zealand ...Weapon: Surf Rider, an endless wave that Mega Man can ride using a surfboard... no shit *ANANSI MAN -- Programming and IT Robot -- a whiz with computers, this robot uses his 6 arms to type messages to his penpals back on Earth ...Home Country: Nigeria ...Weapon: Anansi Web, a spray of webbing that traps opponents and turns them into temporary platforms *SAKURA WOMAN -- Botany and Herbalism Robot -- an accomplished geisha of the Emperor's court, she is never seen without her parasol ...Home Country: Japan ...Weapon: Paper Fan, a gag weapon (with secret potential...) *AMAZON WOMAN -- Medicine and Genetics Robot -- intended to be the doctor's assistant, she went tribal and became obsessed with dancing and music ...Home Country: Peru ...Weapon: Amazon Dart, a fast flying poison dart that deals damage after it strikes *CZAR MAN -- Strategy and Supervision Robot -- designed to lead expeditions to the moon and to keep the diverse crew in cooperation, he secretly will melt at the sight of a cute animal in need; appears in the Battle Network alternate timeline as KingMan.EXE ...Home Country: Russia ...Weapon: Czar Pawn, an icy pawn piece that slides forwards when pushed *PRISM MAN -- Light and Energy Robot -- using advanced light-based technology, this robot was made to go outside the space station and command repairs in a zero oxygen environment ...Home Country: USA (Megatropolis) ...Weapon: Prism Ray, a tri-beam attack
Upon defeating all 8 Robot Masters, the center part of the space station opens and all the characters enter. Here they meet Oni face to face, and he throws at them a handful of very challenging levels. At the end of the third, Oni is fought one-on-one where is revealed, by defeating him, to be a robot himself. Before he is destroyed, however, he hits a large button and flees into space. The space station's collapse into Earth is accelerated and the level shakes at the station is bombarded by five NEW robot pods. Now the players find that some new stages have opened up and others have been altered completely by the collision. Who are these five new Robot Masters...? The runner ups who lost the competition...? How did Oni get control over them!? By defeating them, the characters will be able to stop the station in time to catch Oni who has made his escape to the Moon.
...Robot Masters Round 2... *PHARAOH MAN -- Archaeology Robot -- a throwback and one of Cossack's rebuilt robots submitted by a friend, this robot lands in the unclaimed desert habitat and proclaims himself leader of the vessel ...Home Country: Egypt (though technically Russia) ...Weapon: Pharaoh Shot, which behaves slightly different than MM4 (sends a wave with the shot, which has now become smaller overall) *FLAME MAN -- Industrial Oil Robot -- a rebuilt Robot Master from years prior, he has landed in Judge Man's library stage and set everything ablaze ...Home Country: Saudi Arabia ...Weapon: Flame Burst, same as it always was *MAGIC MAN -- Illusionist Robot -- a rebuilt Robot Master who followed King's rebellion from Wily, he has landed in the unused game corner section of the station and turned it into a Las Vegas style casino ...Home Country: UK (betcha didn't know that ;p) ...Weapon: Magic Card, same as before *PUPPET WOMAN -- Drama and Theatrics Robot -- a rebuilt Robot Master from Dr. Yaku's first onslaught, she lands in Grid Man's stage and turns it into a giant stage for her final show ...Home Country: Italy (rebuilt and submitted by an Italian) ...Weapon: Puppet Firebomb, same as before *DUSTER WOMAN -- Etiquette and Cleaning Robot -- a new submission who looks like a French maid, she was meant to use the dustbuster on her arm to help the crew with their daily cleaning and now crashes in Czar Man's palace, turning it from an icy dungeon into a glittering gold beauty ...Home Country: France ...Weapon: Vacuum Wave, a vortex that pulls in and damages foes[/color]
Finally, after defeating the five extra Robot Masters the team is able to halt the station and get it back in orbit around the Moon. They then descend to Oni's Moonbase for the final confrontation! Four difficult stages ensue, replete with the original 8 Masters in a Teleporter Hatch. When the team comes up against Oni for the second time, he has transformed into a large mech of sorts. In his second form, he shrinks back to normal. And in his third, he reveals his true form: Dr. Yaku! Now even more crazed looking than before (unshaved, wild hair, shattered glasses, and the straightjacket still on), Dr. Yaku admits that he was freed from the asylum by an unknown assistant ("some girly haired man"). He was told to build himself a robotic suit and to create a new disguise that he can take to the space station, while his anonymous helper takes care of the details. So, Dr. Yaku went as Oni-Kyoshi to take over the station and was given all the technology he needed. And when the going got tough, his new friend sent the next EIGHT robots to help. Now that he is revealed, he fights "all-or-nothing." None of the robots are actually able to kill him, due to the Laws of Robotics, and he instead begins crying out manically for "justice" and "an end." He is haunted by visions, and kills himself by leaping from the window of the base.
The robots all flee as the base is exploding and make it back to the station in time. Dr. Light sends a transmission that everything on Earth is OK, and he's glad that they're alright. They saved the day! But what was that unsettling stuff Dr. Yaku had said before his demise? Who was he seeing? And he said there were EIGHT robots sent after them, not five... The game ends with the team returning to Earth, and looking out of the window over the station, the moon, and the horizon beyond.
If you are able to complete the game with the three keys you can unlock hidden doors in the space station that open up three new stages. These are the three Robot Masters from the second set that did not arrive to the station on time. They crash into the station and their stages become available from both the map and the overworld. They are incredibly difficult, but their powers are worthwhile. They can only be fought in the postgame, however.
Note: All three of these Robot Masters have something very "peculiar" about them. They are far stronger than any other Master beforehand, and go into "second phase" once their HP is down to half. All of the second phases, and what these Robot Masters say, may give a clue as to who was behind this whole thing after all.
...Robot Masters Round 3... *ELEMENT MAN -- Elemental Master Robot -- a secret robot intended to win the competition but who was not completed in time, has total mastery of all the elements and crash lands in the desert stage where Pharaoh Man was located; appears in the alternate Battle Network timeline ...Home Country: Ethiopia (the cradle of life x _x) ...Weapon: Element Buster, a more powerful Mega Buster that passes through enemy shields and charges into a spinning "diamond" of elemental energy; it flashes rainbow colors and has an insane amount of ammo, but it can only be used by Mega Man himself ...Second Phase: "Does this seem familiar?" pulls out the Sakurgane and starts bouncing around the room. When defeated by Mega Man, says: "This may have been the final confrontation, but we will always be one." *DRAGON MAN -- Sea, Earth, and Sky Master Robot -- the submission from government scientists in China, he was designed to be the ultimate and give them a hidden edge over control of the space station, though he ends up arriving late and landing in the fuel core of the ship which removes some of his power ...Home Country: China ...Weapon: Dragon Fist, a no-weapon energy ability that allows the player to use the moves Hadouken and Shinryuken ...Second Phase: "We were waiting for this moment..." splits into three copies of himself: one who is fast and uses fire, one who is average and uses water, and one who is slow and heavy and uses wind. When defeated by anybody, says: "We were once brothers brought together, now we shall be one again." *KILLER MAN -- Hellish Robot -- a robot from nowhere, he has no designer, no identification number, and no known origin, but he arrives late and crash lands inside the mainframe of the station's computer system; appears as EraseMan.EXE in the alternate Battle Network timeline ...Home Country: Hades ...Weapon: Killer Blade, a no-weapon energy ability that allows the player to slash a giant scythe blade in any direction ...Second Phase: "....Heh... heh heh..." flashes brightly and lights up the room, revealing a giant "W" on the wall behind him. Becomes faster and stronger, sending miniature "demon bots." When defeated, says: "The others... the good doctor gave them their 'upgrades.' But not me... I was an original. Heh... heh heh!"
The implication, based on what the 3 Final Masters say, is that Dragon Man and Element Man were indeed the robots they claim to be, but were "upgraded" to include some sort of sentience from past Wily robots. Killer Man, on the other hand, is a different beast entirely and is from an origin unknown.
What other secrets does this game hold...
Well, if you collected all of the Gold Disks, you are able to read the journal that Dr. Yaku kept while under the guise of Oni. The discs were found by even him, and as you pour on you realize they were originally from Dr. Wily himself...and discuss his ultimate prototype. These shed backstory on Wily, Zero, and what happened to them both. If you have all the Gold Discs, you also get an added scene at the game's conclusion. The computer in the central part of the station begins to spit out information to one of the crewmembers, and as they walk away with what they need it begins to crane its camera eye around the room. As we zoom out, we see it looks more and more similar to CRORQ from the last game and, surprisingly, it projects a blurry hologram of an old man. The hologram examines some equipment on the table. A white robotic arm, body, face... it looks surprisingly like somebody very familiar. As we scan over the face, we see the visage of Isoc from MMX6. Wily's laugh is heard, and the game ends.
...I am too epic for life, man XD
