This conversation topic has gotten really boring, as everyone so far is overlooking one basic fact:
Most fans of the SSB games probably loath Pokemon for one reason or another.
Therefore it seems incredibly unlikely that new Pokemon will be made into playable characters. We will have Pikachu, and hopefully Jigglypuff may return. But arguing over which Pokemon will be playable and which will be Poke Ball characters seems like an endlessly fruitless excercise. I mean there's 493 of the buggers now, and picking one or two out of all them is just random guesswork.
Let's move onto something else.

Most of the fans of SSB are idiots, though. Case and point:
GENO IS NOT A SUITABLE F***ING CHOICE FOR SSBB!

Geno is cool and all, but less get a Mario character tyhats a little less obscured. I mean every character from Mario should be reconizable. Its Mario. Plus its a fruitless effort since he is owned by Square-Enix supposivly and they arn't going to put him in. Also the west may not want another pokemon but Im sure Japan will kill if they dont put a new one in. I still think Pochama is a good choice. At Pokemon Garden(from the official Japaness site I beleive) there was a poll for the starters and Pochama won with over 50%.

I'd quite like to see Kamek in there, as I think he sits in just the right place on the obscure-to-recognisable scale of Nintendo characters. And not many people can say that (Katt Monroe from Starfox, maybe Biggoron, a few others).
P.S. Fry, for your next exclusive wallpaper, I'd like a rather cool depiction of that scale, please! WANTS IT!!!

We need more girls in this forum. That Nazilover Jessica Ingmann aside.
Anyway, there should definitely be a lot more minor enemies in Adventure Mode. (The Wii is not that ol' basement-resting '94 PC)

In that case, FF characters and Geno are quite likely.

Nobuo Uematsu did the music for the SSBB trailer (and I'm assuming he'll be doing the music for the whole game too). I'm not sure if he's actually 'somebody from Square', but he has done a lot of music for their games.
I'd say there's a pretty good chance (or at least, no less of a chance than with other companies) of Square Enix-owned characters appearing in SSBB. Square Enix has been pretty close with Nintendo lately - they developed Mario Hoops 3-on-3 for them and they have quite a few other DS games released and in development.

I believe Uematsu-san is independent and no longer works directly for Square-Enix. I think he left around the same time that Hironobu Sakaguchi founded Mistwalker Studios, as the two of them still seem to work together, but don't quote me on that.

In that case, FF characters and Geno are quite likely. Naw. If Square gives a character it would be one from the FF line.

Bah, the chances of Squeenix letting Big N use one of their characters is slim to none. Just because they just got back together recently doesn't mean that they're going to go that far immediately.

Yeah, letting one of your most popular characters appearing in one of Nintendo's most popular series ever... why... that's like kissing on a first date!
