Yeah, letting one of your most popular characters appearing in one of Nintendo's most popular series ever. Hasn't that already been done in Mario Hoops 3-on-3?

Yes, which is why you should reread my previous post and imagine I am saying it in my most over-the-top sarcastic voice... which was my intention.
Of course Square Enix would consider putting their characters in SSBB if they were asked. I doubt any game designer would turn down that chance.

Still, I don't think Nintendo's gonna ask them that quickly. They've only just begun. Isn't it bad enough that Snake got a free ride?

But this supposed 'free ride' will bring in a whole bunch of Snake / MGS fans that wouldn't have tocuhed a SSB game otherwise.
Final Fantasy characters would have the same affect (as would DQ characters, but they would mostly only be for Japanese gamers), just as Sonic, Megaman and whoever else would.

I haven't even played SSBB yet but Snake being involved has piked my interest enough to look for the GC ports of the MGS series. I don't think that putting a Final Fantasy character in the series will make me want to explore that franchise, though... One thing that has me curious is if there'll be Latin lyrics for more songs than just the trailer. Personally I think they're a bit over the top...I mean, I don't have an issue with them in some games, but SSBB doesn't seem like that kind of an epic. Come on, the Super Mario Brothers theme with a choir of people singing " CAESER PUGNAAAAAX AD PROVINCIAAAAAAAM"? It's just shy of blasphemous. Yes. I just said Caeser Pugnax to the providence. Sue me, it's the only Latin I remembered from highschool. XD

Sakurai is probably going to take each song as it comes, as he did with SSBM. I mean, I just can't imagine some of them being played by orchestra (in fact, the SSBM orchestra CD I got even has the Game & Watch song on it - completely unrecognisable!)
But I imagine the "epics" such as Zelda, Metroid and Fire Emblem to have a full chorus. And the title theme.
But we have no idea how massive this game will be yet. Sakurai wants a full single-player platform adventure, we (and Nintendo) want online play. This could very well be one of the best things ever.

Which is great. Just give us the characters we oh so want.

In fact, the only song I didn't recognize was the Mach Rider song, and that's because I only heard it once before and couldn't remember how it sounded.

But they sound nothing alike. Take away the Game & Watch bleeps and bloops and that's it... it's just a completely different song.

But I thought the violin scratches were meant to sound like the beeps. They did something similar with the end of first part of the Metroid medley.

Peh, an equally good idea would be a Nintendo-based RPG very much like Kingdom Hearts.
Mushroom and Triforce Keyblades!

I didn't think it was appropriate for DK's SSBM Stage.

I agree, but the remix was better than the original, so I'm glad it got done. It definitely made the DK Rap more popular.

I never would have looked into Star Fox, Fire Emblem, or a good number of other franchises were it not for SSB. Including third party characters (sigh, even Square Enix) may finally encourage me to buy more than just a few third party games. My only concern is including characters with no presence on the Nintendo. Why encourage gamers to buy stuff for a rival system, yeah? But I'm probably beating a dead horse here, so.
