If you're going to go so crazy as to slit your wrists over it (have it in your sig et al), then that's fanboyism right there.

Hilariously, yes, the examples you provided WOULD count as fanboyism. If you think the new Star Wars films were rubbish then that's fine. If you don't count them as "real" Star Wars films and get quite angry about them then you're a fanboy. Old-School Star Wars fanboy.
But you say it's lost the one thing that made it REALLY Smash Bros. When actually it hasn't lost anything, it's just gained more.
So yes... you are a fanboy. You might not want to admit it, but that's because you're in denial over it... like an alcoholic who won't admit he has a problem.

On the subject of third parties, I had to go to a mass for the end of the school year today, and as I sat there coming up with random topics to get rid of the boredom, I came up with Smash Bros. 3rd party characters. Or, more specifically, third party characters that would be representatives of various companies that would make damn good Smash characters (regardless of how likely it was that the companies would work with Nintendo). I also stuck to companies not currently tied to Sony or Microsoft (as much as I'd love Banjo Kazooie).
What I came up with was... Konami - Snake SEGA - Sonic Namco - Pacman Capcom - Megaman Hudson - Bomberman Ubisoft - Rayman (4 'men' in a row!) Squareenix - FF Character (don't know enough about FF) Midway - Sub-Zero
and finally (had to look up the developers): Team 17 - a Worm (had just been playing Worms at the time, but I still think this would absolutely rock)
Any other good ones?

I was actually thinking more along the lines of the changes made to the origonal series(Han shot first and all that). You just expect the fans of a series to sit quietly while they ruin a series they love? What is wrong with voicing your opinion in hopes of bettering the series? It HAS lost something. It use to be pure Nintendo, now it's not. It also lost the Nintendo characters that would have been added if they weren't adding third party characters.

And MegaMan is my only favorite Capcom franchise (most of their other stuff is exceedingly realistic to make the cut). But (Mystical Ninja) Goemon and Klonoa would be swell candidates, too. Not that they'd go any further than that, but I can see them working.

You just expect the fans of a series to sit quietly while they ruin a series they love? What is wrong with voicing your opinion in hopes of bettering the series? This is what I'm trying to say. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with voicing your opinions, but it is fanboyish to do so. And yes, it would be fanboyish to moan that Han originally shot first. You know what? It's a film and nobody gives a damn except a small clique of fanboys. Besides, you can voice an opinion that hardly anyone else agrees with / cares about. But you don't need to repeat it time and time again. You don't need to attempt to convert others to agree with you. You don't need to shout above the din. You don't need to envelop yourself in the view to such an extent that it makes you look like nothing else in life is more important to you than Solid Snake's inclusion in SSBB. Whether some or all of those things are true of you (at least some must be, or you'd just not care, like the rest of us), you are marked as a fanboy. Hell, I'm a fanboy on some things. At least I can admit it.

Midway with Sub-Zero? Ubisoft with Rayman? Get outta here. Who else would they have? Not that those companies will get in Smash anyway, but if they did, they'd be pretty good contenders.

Just go take your ramblings about it elsewhere. Somewhere with people who care. Who else would they have? Not that those companies will get in Smash anyway, but if they did, they'd be pretty good contenders. Oh okay, so that's just an *IF* thing.

On the Nintendo-only in Smash, get over it. Theres only going to be 3 characters max, and from how things look, Snake might be the only one.

Rayman has a fantastic chance of making it into SSBB. Look at UBI Soft's support for the Wii. Consider that UBI's been one of Nintendo's most supportive third parties on the Cube, giving it every major franchise game they made. Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, King Kong...all were there. Even series like Far Cry are coming to the Wii. So don't knock it. Rayman makes more sense than Solid Snake in some ways.
As for Sub-Zero, I doubt Midway's on the list to make it in, but out of the diverse history, Sub-Zero is a fine choice to represent them. He's the major character of Mortal Kombat. The major argument against him is unlike Solid Snake, he's constantly been enrapted in gore, so I don't think he'd fit in with Mario and Pikachu. I don't know who would be a good choice for Midway...the elf from Gauntlet, perhaps? ^^
BTW, Solid Snake is quite realistic. Capt. Falcon could be argued that he is quite realistic as well. Saying that a character is realistic is not proper grounds to kick them out of SSBB. I don't think that matters. As long as the character could translate into a proper movelist for Brawl, they'll work. Therefore, anyone from RE is game (if anyone from RE does make it, I think Leon's got the best chance, but I'm personally rooting for classic Mega Man to represent Capcom).

Nah... Midway and Nintendo haven't always been the best of friends. Besides, Mortal Kombat is hardly the most popular series in Japan - I think the chances of Sub-Zero appearing are approximately... well... sub-zero.

What indication have we had that would at least imply that Snake will be the only third party character? Personally I'd much rather see more and more 3rd party characters than tons of 3rd tier characters and super duper obscure characters.

It's very well not wanting Solid Snake in the game, or preferring it if it stayed with just Nintendo characters, but the very fact it angers and/or upsets you marks you out as a fanboy. I'm not actually bothered about Snake being in Brawl, it's just that bloody hedgehog I can't stand. And I was one of those who'd thought I'd seen the last of him when the Dreamcast flopped. *sigh* Ah those were the days! You have invested too much negative emotion into it. Unless you don't really care that much then yes, you are a fanboy. Admit it. If the shoe fits, I happily wear it! ;D

I have nothing against Sonic. I'm rather fond of his old games (not so much the 3D ones) and I think he would fit into SSBB like a slender hand into a silky glove.
Pac-Man too, especially if given moves from the Pac-Land and World games. In fact, if anyone was going to take over from Jigglypuff's moves, Pac-Man could pull it off a treat.
I've got a newfound love and respect for third-party characters. In fact, I'd prefer some good third-party heroes to secondary characters from franchises (eg. Toad, Diddy Kong, etc.)
But I still love the crazy obscure Nintendo ones mostest. Give me Takamaru and I'll be very happy.

The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. I'm a fanboy ten times all over the place and I'm not ashamed to admit it. :D However it's equally as important to keep an open mind to things or else you go through life as nothing more than an obsessive crankypants.
For example, as I mentioned pages ago, Snake's inclusion in SSBB makes me curious to try the Metal Gear Solid series now--something which never would have happened if Snake weren't included. I think the new experience on both SSBB and MGS would be well worthwhile.
