I also don't want to find out the secret characters beforehand, but thats gonna require me to avoid about half the internet. Awesome! I've been planning on doing this too. It'd be so cool to just be playing and all of a sudden.... NEW CHALLENGER!: ROB the Robot! I've got a three step plan for this when it comes close to release: 1.Don't go to GameFAQs or any other video game site that isn't Nintendo DB. 2.Beg for Fry not to mention the secret characters on the main page and make a rule about talking about the characters without a spoiler warning. (And edit any posts that don't follow the rule!) 3.When I get the game ask HOW to unlock all the characters, but NOT WHO it will unlock. (This would probably come later. After I've unlocked several characters and can't figure out how to get the rest.) Yeah, it all sounds simple in practice, but thats relying on the assumption you're not gonna go into a, say, Animal Crossing thread and have someone post "I LOVE USING TOM NOOK IN SSBB". And while I have faith this should be okay here, and for most people on the other forums I go to, I'm worried about the 1 or 2 idiots.

I will attempt to make all announcements on the SSBB page, and stick a spoiler warning at the top of the page. However, when the game gets an official game page and Easter Eggs page, I can't guarantee there won't be any spoilers. So you'd better buy it straight away and play it solidly before visiting NinDB

I'd say I'll play at most for a week, then ask how to unlock characters, and play for about another week. After that I won't worry so much about spoilers. I imagine I can last two weeks without the NintendoDB, my main worries are the weeks before SSBB is released and the one day I return to see how to get the characters. (Maybe some really nice person could have a topic waiting for my return? Possibly pinned at the top of the message board?) Darn idiots. I'm hoping they'll be to busy playing SSB to come and spoil our fun.

I'll try not to spoil it for you guys. I didn't know all the characters before Melee, but I didn't have internet then. Now I dont care. I just want SSBB. I also like Wario's outfit for SSBB. Im glad Warioware is getting reconition. Think there would be another WW character.

I'll be fine once I get SSBB, since I wont need the internet for a while. My main problem is if we don't get it when everybody else does.

I want Fox McCloud in Assault costume rather than the traditional.

^^^ Krystal* and Wolf, too.
So you know, it's quite ironic how a second-party company is in charge of a game like this. It seems more first party, if you think about it.
*Which one do you think? Adventures or Assault?

If the character list is gonna only be in the 40s or so, I don't think either Krystal or Wolf should make the cut at all - 2 characters for a franchise in which the characters have only ventured out of their ships in one game is enough for me.

In the 40s? I hope that's true. If the character list is gonna only be in the 40s or so, I don't think either Krystal or Wolf should make the cut at all - 2 characters for a franchise in which the characters have only ventured out of their ships in one game is enough for me. But really, Krystal is worthy. But anyway, when thinking of more characters, consistency is key. Animal Crossing characters will not make the cut, seeing as it's obvious why not. And don't just speculate playable characters. Adventure Mode in Melee had more normal fights than mini-stages. It also needs more enemies in there, too. But if there will be some more third party characters, I'd say that [ [Mystical Ninja] Goemon and Twinbee (Konami), Mega Man (and maybe even Protoman, Bass, and Roll. Maybe), Klonoa (Namco), and Bomberman (Hudson). That is, if they'd agree to it.

But really, Krystal is worthy. Animal Crossing characters will not make the cut, seeing as it's obvious why not. Krystal is worthy? Animal Crossing characters wont make the cut for 'obvious' reasons? What have you been smoking? How is Krystal 'worthy'? She's a bit player in 2 (maybe 3) of the Starfox games (which, as I've mentioned, are games in which (most of the time), the characters aren't seen that often). I'd give Slippy a higher chance than Krystal. And what are these so called 'obvious' reasons why Animal Crossing characters wont make the cut? They've got a selection of tool-based moves (or different, not-related to AC moves in terms of someone like KK), and if you beleive they can't fight, look at some of the choices already on the roster. I'd put money on there being an Animal Crossing character being in SSBB.

I'm hoping for lands unrelated to the character roster - so even if Animal Crossing doesn't make the cut (which I doubt it will) there's nothing stopping one of the stages taking place in an Animal Crossing town. Krystal is not worthy. Krystal suxxors.

Haha, well said. But who knows what the obstacles etc. could be there? So nevermind the whole "characters owning stages" thing. This is not like that. What other areas would work as stages anyways?

Balloon Fight would be a perfect match, dontcha think?
But I think just about any character and any game could end up in SSBB. Nothing seems to be beyond the reaches of Sakurai's imagination.

Balloon Fight would be a perfect match, dontcha think? Not to mention the Balloon Fighter has a crapload of potential to enter the fray as well. And what is your say on the Ice Climbers? Should they come back as well? Retro revivial aside, they were quite a unique twist and may definitely be improved if returning.
