How is this for balancing a lot of franchises? The biggest franchises (Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon) get 4 or 5 characters. The other franchises get 1 or 2 characters.
MARIO 1. Mario 2. Luigi 3. Bowser 4. Peach 5. Toad (replaces Dr. Mario)
DONKEY KONG 6. DK 7. Diddy & Dixie
LEGEND OF ZELDA 8. Link 9. Zelda 10. Ganondorf 11. Cel-Shaded Link (replaces Young Link) 12. Tingle
METROID 13. Samus / Zero Suit Samus (replaces Sheik) 14. Ridley
YOSHI 15. Yoshi / Baby Mario
KIRBY 16. Kirby 17. Meta Knight
STAR FOX 18. Fox 19. Krystal (replaces Falco)
POKEMON 20. Pikachu 21. Meowth (replaces Jigglypuff) 22. Gardevoir (replaces Mewtwo) 23. Mimirol (replaces Pichu)
F-ZERO 24. C. Falcon
MOTHER 25. Lucas (replaces Ness)
ICE CLIMBER 26. Ice Climbers
FIRE EMBLEM 27. Marth 28. Ike (replaces Marth)
GAME & WATCH 29. Mr. Game & Watch
KID ICARUS 30. Pit
WARIO 31. Wario
METAL GEAR 32. Snake
SONIC 33. Sonic
PUNCH-OUT!! 34. Little Mac
JOY MECHA FIGHT 35. Sukapon
MOLE MANIA 36. Muddy
LEGEND OF STAFY 37. Stafy
PIKMIN 38. C. Olimar
ANIMAL CROSSING 39. Tom Nook
DUCK HUNT 40. Duck Hunt Dog (as the final surprise character)

Well, I still think he should be there. If Mike's not US-only, who is? Alice from Balloon Kid used to be a US-Only character, until Nintendo released it's updated version only in Japan during the year 2000. Tin Star from the SNES title of the same name, is perhaps the only Nintendo character that is US-Only. He is a robot / cowboy hybrid, and there hasn't been a single, playable robot nor cowboy. But I'm afraid that Tin Star has a very low chance, because he is one of the most lesser-known Nintendo characters.

21. Meowth (replaces Jigglypuff) Oh yeah, and I'm still wishing to see any of the Pro Wrestling characters. Smash Bros. needs some good grapplers.

21. Meowth (replaces Jigglypuff) Hey, that one didn't sound as wrong as Gardevoir vs Mewtwo . How about R.O.B. the robot? Could he be made suitable to fight?

Sure he could - my initial idea of having ROB with Zapper has already been realised in WarioWare: Smooth Moves, so he could easily be adapted to fight

Personally I think ROB would make a better stage than a fighter, but that's for a different topic.

what about that dude with 4 arms from Mortal Kombat?? I mean, you guys are willing to try Snake from Metal Gear Solid, and he's not even a Nintendo character. (this goes for Arcadenik too)

You mean Goroh? From Midway? Yeah... how about you stop talking now A better one than that would be Samurai Goroh--not only is he a Nintendo character, but he's Captain Falcon's rival. He'd make a great heavyweight brawler.

12. Tingle 19. Krystal (replaces Falco) 21. Meowth (replaces Jigglypuff) 22. Gardevoir (replaces Mewtwo) 25. Lucas (replaces Ness) 33. Sonic NO WAY MAN!! I say that Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Ness and Falco should remain in the game. As for Tingle and Sonic, they should be left out! Who??? Personally I can't see any of these happening due to the fact that they don't have any moves to use as attacks.

What are you talking about? Muddy, Sukapon and Stafy all have plenty of moves.

Sqrt, you're really letting your ignorance of Nintendo games shine through Ike is the hero of the Gamecube Fire Emblem. I see no good reason why, if SSBB is featuring third party characters, Sonic should be left out. Nearly all of those characters at the end of your strange rant could easily be made into SSBB fighters. Most of them have way more in the way of viable moves than, say, Captain Falcon, Fox/Falco, Ice Climbers, etc. Sukapon was even the hero of a FIGHTING game. He's got moves coming out of his cute, robotic face!!

Marth should not be removed, because:
* He was the very first Lord of the Fire Emblem series.
* He was the very first Fire Emblem character to appear in two Fire Emblem titles. He was playable in both.
* Fire Emblem 3 is the best selling Fire Emblem title in Japan.
AND
* Marth became so popular, an official anime about the titles he appeared in was released in Japan and North America.

That comic makes a good point though. Another reason I wanted Roy gone was to stop those crazed fangirls at fanfiction.net from writing slash fiction about Marth and Roy. Unfortunately, Pit's redesign may spark a ray of hope for them...
