I'd say the difference is the Yoshi games always contain Mario and/or Bowser while Wario and DK have created a new cast of characters for their games. I fail to see how that seperates Wario and Donkey Kong from the Mario franchise, though--especially as they're basically everywhere in the series. Even DK's "universe" is starting to cross over with Mario, what with Diddy's inclusion in Mario Baseball and Double Dash, and Dixie's in Baseball as well. DK has his own villians and supporting characters (Diddy and Dixie haven't appeared in a NON spinoff Mario game have they?) Yoshi may have different normal enemies, but has some of the same characters (Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Kamek).

They ALL fall under the umbrella of the Mario series. However, yes, many of them have spun off into their own sub-series.
It doesn't matter if Yoshi games share some characters from the Mario games. It is still a sub-series, just like Wario games and Donkey Kong games.
Arguing like this, however, proves nothing at all. Nobody is proving anything. You are just wasting your time.

The new speculation is all about Mii. About that, if Mii became selectable, would they deserve a character slot of their own? IMO, they could be created from the models in the Wii Remotes and the Wii operating system so that you store their character definitions to the flash card, the same way the player names were stored in SSBM. That way, you would select any stored Mii from a submenu and not necessarily from the "choose your character" slots.

Who is this "Mii" you speak of? Is it the Wii sports dude?

Haven't you seen the videos? You basically design your own Wii Sports dude as an avatar. Its very basic, but seems to have enough options that everyone won't look the same. And then "Mii" plays in Wii Sports, Wii Play, Big Brain Academy, and WarioWare for some reason. Mii can be stored in the controller to be used on other consoles, and hopefully as an online avatar eventually.
So basically its a gimmick, but a rather nifty one.

I would love it if Miis became regular easter eggs... appearing as shop keepers in Zelda games, for example

Mii would be a fantastic character for SSBB. Give him a Wiimote based moveset and (s)he's all set.

No, the third shopkeeper from left to right is me! Get it right!

That brings up an interesting point - what if you and I were to use Miis in SSBB, but I was to use your Mii and you were to use my Mii? That way, even if you beat me, the winner is still me. Though you'd never beat me, anyway.

They should add a pre-programmed Miyamoto face template so that your Mii looks like him if you want to. Now that would be cool.

Mii as a playable SSB character... know that's genius!
Also, instead of names we should have Miis. Where the names where Miis would be.
