I dunno. The Miis strike me as Create-a-Skater/Wrestler/whatever meets the PS2 EyeToy--I'd rather they stay out of SSBB.

They wouln't be a create a character thing. You will have your Mii is uploaded when you unlock him. He'll have a set of moves that are permanent to him/

Also, instead of names we should have Miis. Where the names where Miis would be. Exactly! An expansion of those names you see in SSBM. I don't really care if you can create moves or not for them. How about they remove Mr. Game & Watch from the "choose your character" panel so that he becomes the holder of the Mii's faces as easter eggs? IDK, I'm no longer in love the concept of a multicharacter Mr. Game & Watch as a retro character, and I'd rather have the wolf from Egg (in 3D) or even a Hanafuda card character (in 3D, too) for that purpose. And Mr. Game & Watch is more than suitable for that use, as we can see in Game Boy Camera and Imakuni?'s e-Reader Pokémon TCG card.

Game & Watch deserves to be in, you seem to forget, he's not retro. He's retro in the same way Mario and Zelda are retro.
He has a contemporary series, "Game & Watch Gallery". Admitadly, it's been fused with the Marioverse, but it's still HIS game, as it has HIS name in it (uh... except for the EU and AU versions) and it's HIS games. With modernized Mario versions of course.

Was he always named Mr. Game & Watch anyway? Or not until Super Smash Bros. Melee? Maybe they made a multicharacter Mr. Game & Watch for SSBM because one game was not going to be enough without made-up moves (like only Ball, only Flagman, only Greenhouse, etc.)...
From Nintendo creations, there was an antropomorphic wolf (in Egg), an aquarim guy (in Tropical Fish), a boy called Climber (in Climber), among other more original looking characters. There was even Mario, Link, and other characters that appeared in previous Nintendo arcade or home system games. But why not rendering "the Wolf", "Aquarium Man", Climber, and others in 3D?
The Mr. Game & Watch + Mii thing was just an random idea anyway, probably not that good.

He was never used as a mascot for the Game & Watch games back when they existed. He is nothing but an amalgamation of elements from individual Game & Watch titles, in which he never starred. The Game & Watch Gallery series does NOT star Mr. Game & Watch. He features in G&WG4 (which was released AFTER SSBM), and has had a couple of cameo appearances since. But he is NOT a bona fide retro character. The faster I can drill this into everyone's heads, the faster we can stop having this ridiculous and pointless conversation about him. Kick Mr.G&W out and replace him with an actual, existing character from the G&W games.

G&W is cool and all, but I think it's Mii's time in the spot light.

(Except of course games that had named characters like Egg) I think it's a much better idea to have a previously unamed human looking character to represent 90% of the G&W games, rather than Wolf or someone else who only represent one game.

The boxarts and manual illustrations are kind of a give away. And for example, Mr. Flagman, Mr. Octopus, and Mr. Greenhouse (included in Mr. Game & Watch's SSBM moves) look slightly different to each other. Mr. Game & Watch was a cute compilation of G&W characters that looked similar due to the limitations with monochromatic LCD devices. He might stay in SSB games, but that would make the Wolf, Climber, Squish Monster, and Aquarium Guy stay forever obscure (unless Mr. Game & Watch acquires their abilities as his moves).

And the character designs in each and every game are different. In fact, the only G&W character who looks anything like Mr.G&W are the tumbling victims in Fire. Not even the main heroes.
The character art on the box and in many cases the games themselves is a bit of a giveaway. And are you saying that Mr.G&W represents Mario and Donkey Kong Jr. as well? Why not Link? After all, they all appeared in Game & Watch games.
The manuals for G&W titles, if they don't name the character, usually say something like "move the doll/mannequin" (eg. Ball, Vermin). Later on, the characters are usually named. Why not Balloon Man or Climber? They're awesome.

Personally I want Mr Game & Watch to feature in SSBB as a playable character. Pichu however is a different kettle of fish entirely...

I thought Mr. Game & Watch was a neat little throwback to Nintendo before it became super-popular with home consoles--I'd rather have that than a created character (which the Mii is, you just don't build it in SSBB) whose moves are random and most likely don't exploit any older, more nostalgic qualities.

Where the hell have we pulled this idea that its either Mr Game & Watch OR a Mii from? Theres no reason whatsoever they can't both be in there at the same time, and I don't know why anyone would think they couldn't.

Most of the G&W characters look pretty similar to Mr. G&W. Mostly they just have eyes and/or a hat added. And most characters appearances were "updated" for SSB. I said he represented unnamed human G&W characters. Mario, DK Jr., and Link have names. Because they wouldn't be a blank character that could be used to represent all the G&W games. Balloon man can't just pull out turtle and hit someone with it, but a character like Mr. G&W. Plus, Balloon Fighter or Alice would probably be better choices to represent the Balloon Fight series.

I don't have a problem with Mr. G&W existing, I just have a problem with people believing he existed before SSBM. I know you didn't really do that... but you're not the only one arguing for the unimpressive flat dude.
Give Mr. G&W a cap, eyes and teeth and we have a deal.
