This pretty much confirms Animal Crossing Human, just so you guys know. My friend and I are theorizing it's the female, since she was the one who starred in the anime.
Hmm...

I think their will be some way to identify whether the player is male or female and will change certain avatars accordingly.

Hey, sorry for such a late post to such an amazing update. I was on vacation (what a day to have no internet!)
Anyways, this is great. I've always wanted to play as Charizard. Actually, I would rather of played as Venasaur but Charizard is always the favorite. It had to go first stage (Squirtle) second stage (Ivysaur) and third stage (Charizard).

Who wants to bet now that the crowd chant for "Pokémon Trainer" will be "Gotta catch'em all! Gotta catch'em all!"?

The costumes will only be Red. How do I know this?
Notice how Squirtle in one screenshot has a brown shell. Squirtle also has a blue shell in a different screenshot. The shell will be what makes Squirtle's different costumes. I assume that the other Pokemon and Red will as well, otherwise it would be too confusing (having Blue Squirtle corresponding to Blue, while it could work, would just be weird).

Wait...where does Squirtle have a blue shell? It looks brown in all of them to me.

It's stupid, tho, to have the Pokemon change colors so drastically. So if the trainer doesn't change, then the Pokemon must, and I really doubt we'll be playing as a blue Charizard any time soon.
If anything, it's the Pikachu/Pichu/Puffster method where they wear different accessories to match the color. That.. actually would be cool. Squirtle with his gonzoin shades ;D

Squirtle with his gonzoin shades ;D YES!! I'm going to be so disappointed if this doesn't happen now. But, in SSB and SSBM, the accessories they wore were accompanied by a slight change in colour. Pikachu with a cap has a slight red tint, Pikachu with a party hat has a slight blue tint. Same for Jigglypuff. Not sure about Pichu, though. Remember Mewtwo? He changed colour completely...

This is a different character update I did not expect, but I like it. And I think the retro Pokemon are a plus - I know these ones! Plus that opens up more spots for the newer ones to pop up in Pokeballs. ^_^

I would like it if it were this way:
A random set of three Pokémon are issued to the trainer. Depending on which trainer you chose from the Character Select Screen, you'll have the following Pokémon combinations which change with every match:
Trainer A (Male Trainer 1): Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard (#1), Charmander/Wartortle/Venusaur (#2), Bulbasaur/Charmeleon/Blastoise (#3) Trainer B (Male Trainer 2): Totodile/Bayleef/Typhlosion (#1), Cyndaquil/Croconaw/Meganium (#2), Chikorita/Quilava/Feraligatr (#3) Trainer C (Female Trainer 1): Mudkip/Grovyle/Blaziken (#1), Torchic/Marshtomp/Sceptile (#2), Treecko/Combusken/Swampert (#3) Trainer D (Female Trainer 2): Piplup/Grotle/Infernape (#1), Chimchar/Prinplup/Torterra (#2), Turtwig/Monferno/Empoleon (#3)
Don't worry, the gist of each Pokémon type's special moves are all the same, so appearances are just for fun! Their evolution stages merely determine their strength, speed, and what-not.
But eh, this is still some really good stuff anyhow.

As awesome as that would be, sadly it only works the way it's shown to us. Empoleon, for example, can't be like Char. He can't fly. Same goes for Infernape or Sceptile or any of em. It only works with the ones we got
