www.estarland.com/index.asp?page=NintendoWii&cat=&product=28429&q=Have any of you seen this? It looks like the REAL box art. -Brand new renders. -Good composition. -No new characters. (This is the biggest version of the pic I've seen) I'd say this is the official box. Most fake ones I've seen try to throw in new characters using old renders from other games like Animal Crossing and Sonic Heroes. I If it IS fake... then whoever did it deserves some credit.

Possibly, but it could also have been done by someone with actual artistic merit. Stuff like that's happened before...Purple Kecleon on DeviantArt had everyone fooled with her Psychic/Dark/Fighting starter Fakemon for Diamond and Pearl.
The reason I have to doubt this is because it looks more like art than it should. But who knows? Either way I'm staying doubtful.

Nice find, but its not real. It looks to be done in photoshop and the Wario doesn't really look anything like the Sakurai design...also, the characters on it are only the ones introduced. Who really knows. Watch it end up being real and I will be stupid for disproving it. Also, it says "Will be released 12/04/07, but in reality, the game won't be out until the 3rd. This is what I will go by until then. Even though this one is fake too, but it's more believable.

The date is indifferent when it's that close. Most stores won't actually sell until the day after release anyways. But it definitely is the most badass and believable art in a while. It fits the game's nature for sure. I wanna believe, but I just don't know. Also, lol, no Wi-Fi

It doesn't look done in photoshop... because it's all brand new artwork. I'd have doubts if it used artwork that already exists and they used photoshop on them in some way. And you can tell that this box art was drawn as one peice... rather than using several peices of artwork composed on one image. That's what makes me believe it's real. If it were fake, that would mean the artist drew and colored that picture on his own only to make a fake box art. I don't underestimate people's desires to make fake stuff up for Smash Brothers... but even I find it hard to believe that somebody would have drawn and colored that peice of artwork just for the sake of messing with people. Had it been a simple drawing... or used existing artwork... I'd have more doubt. It's a shame the picture is so small.... can anybody find a bigger version? That way we can tell how it was colored and get a better idea. And it uses the right design for Wario. Look closer. If you find something on Deviantart.... or anywhere else of that picture... then I'm sure it's fake. But in the meantime I'm going to take a risk and say it's official.

I Can't find a single other place that uses the image. Besides the atmosphere of the game has become lighter than 64's and Melee's (with the exception of Subspace Emissary) the art doesn't reflect that at all.

For one, compare it to 64 and Melee's box. They were much brioghter, and 64's more cheery. But, the game's overall feel is to be darker. I think Sakurai wanted that from the begining. I'm ganna say real. The renders are totally new, and has a mor eprofessionally done look to it.

Why does there just happen to be the characters that have been revealed - surely Captain Falcon would make it too?
Its purdy, but I'll say fake.

Yeah, I mean...he was on the Melee Box, even if it was just part of his face. D: I think he's important enough to rank on there! And why would they stick Pokémon Trainer in the front (without his Pokémon) while Fox and Peach, much more recognizable, are in the back? THIS ISN'T REALLY HAPPENING!!!

Dudes... it's a "Rating Pending" box. This is highly HIGHLY unlikely to be the final boxart, but that doesn't mean it isn't real and official.
I'm convinced for the reasons above - these are new poses for characters, some of which only announced in the last week or two (so very little chance of faking it). This artwork might even be a quick mockup based on a piece of official art we simply haven't seen yet.
But that little "RP" sells it for me.

Looks real to me. I really can't see eStarland paying one of its employees to spend THAT long on a fake boxart. That's a few days' work, at the very least.

But that little "RP" sells it for me. ... so this is official (Rating pending) boxart? Nobody is saying the employee made the box, clearly they would have found it on the interweb somewhere.
