I don't see why everyone wants Lip. What can she do? She was in a Tetris type game, if I'm not mistaken. How is that interesting? Kirby is awesome because he has a unique power, as does Yoshi and Pikachu, and all the other characters. But Lip? Does she have psychic powers like Ness? Can she shoot flames like Mario? Tell me, what can she do?! *sigh* If you asked us the same question about Captain Falcon before he appeared in any Smash game, I doubt you would be supporting him since all he ever do is race cars. Sakurai can make up moves for any characters. He made up moves for Ice Climbers (who had only one attack in the original NES game), Sheik (who had no moves other than up special and down special), Fox (whose special moves were based off the Arwing's abilities), Zelda (whose special moves were based off Link's magic spells), etc. so I don't see why Lip is impossible. You raise a good point, but like Fryguy said, I see Starfox with a gun, as he flies though space shooting people. I see Captain Falcon using fast moves as he drove fast cars. Ice Climbers also had hammers and fought using each other. And Sheik showed she had acrobatic skills in OOT. All characters like that were given moves that make sense. But this is a little girl...in a puzzle game! Not racing, not shooting...puzzle.

So yes, there are loads of characters that could feasibly be turned into playable fighters despite their lack of action in games. Lip is one of them. But why would you WANT to do that? It seems a waste of a playable character slot when there are still dozens of much more suitable candidates who have not (yet) been included. Mostly because Lip would be an interesting character to play. All of her attacks could cause damage over time, making her different from any other character.

All of her attacks could also cause the other players to burst into flames. Or have reverse controls. Or whatever really... because she has absolutely nothing to work with! Pulling possible ideas out of thin air isn't going to solve the problem

I'm completely with Fryguy on this one. Lip doesn't deserve to be in Smash Brothers if Nintendo doesn't think she even deserves to be in her own series.

Pulling ideas out of thin air? I'm basing this assumption on the fact that we have witnessed Lip's weapon doing exactly that. Lip's Stick didn't cause characters to burst into flame or reverse their controls. It did damage over time. Why is it so hard to imagine that her weapon would function the same in her own hands?

Actually, Lip can fit in Smash... Just only as an Assist...
Imagine this, Lip is summoned to the field and then the playing field of Panel De Pon appears where she makes a 13x Chain Combo... Lip and the Panel De Pon Puzzle Area disappear and Garbage Blocks rain down on everyone fighting. ;D

You said ALL of her attacks could slowly do damage over time, as if that was some trait she has. But we all know Lip's Stick's power was also invented especially for Smash. So you're kinda arguing yourself into a corner. It doesn't solve the "she has no abilities" problem.

So you're kinda arguing yourself into a corner. It doesn't solve the "she has no abilities" problem. How many attacks does Link have that don't involve use of his sword? I think it's just one air attack and the three special moves. I'm sorry I didn't make it clear that I meant most, and not all. Her special moves could easily be made up like Popo & Nana. They were give the ability to summon ice, despite never seeming to to have any type of magical abilities.(I'm referring more to their Down B, the ice from their Neutral B looks like it could just be coming out of hammerspace) Considering she is a Flower Fairy with a magic wand, it seems perfectly reasonable to see her summon flowers, petals, leaves, pollen, etc... to attack opponents with.

Sweet! Three down, two to go! Blaziken is very likely out because Charizard is in. Deoxys and Munchlax are out! Meowth's competiton are being shot down! Next targets: Gardevoir and Lucario!
Meowth for Brawl!

If we're getting another Pokémon, I'd prefer Lucario. Even Gardevoir would be better than Meowth. The first generation is already waaay overrepresented.

Guys, the only merit for Gardevoir is its appearance in the Tokouken, way before Gallade was shown in any part of the world, and that's all. And no, no Gardevoir over Meowth, either. Saying the game needs Gardevoir just to represent its generation doesn't make much sense, you know

How about neither Gardevoir or Meowth get in.

Yes, I'm all for neither Gardevoir or Meowth. Neither of them deserve to be in, I just meant that, if it came down to the two of them, I'd prefer Gardevoir.
I'd prefer to have both in Poké Balls, though.

I dunno... I missed Meowth's Payday attack in Melee. And Hitmonlee's High-Jump Kick (much better than Scizor anyway)

I love Meowth. I was deeply saddened by his MIA Pokeball in Melee. At the very least I hope he comes back in with Payday again...but if he was playable, I'd have at least 1 successful character guess!
