^^^^
I was disappointed that Meowth was not in Melee at all, and only made a trophy.. but at least Sakurai made this trophy very special by making it unlocked after you beat the All-Star Mode with all playable characters and it does not follow the National Dex order, appearing last after all the other Pokemon trophies. So take it with a grain of salt that Sakurai considers Meowth important enough to give him a special trophy. Hopefully he comes back and graduates into the playable level with Charizard. ;D

Meowth should be in Brawl, he's just as iconic or even more than the Pokemon trainer's pokemon. I want to see Jynx back as a pokeball or something, I don't know why she was removed in Melee.

What do you mean removed? Jynx hasn't been in any of the Smash Bros. games.

If Jynx was planned or something, she would have been removed due to her resemblance to blackface.
But I never heard anything of her planned.

The Ice Cave episode ban was only a consequence (though some interpreted it had to do with the 2001 Anthrax attacks, and the SARS epidemic). It was the last time Jynx appeared having a black "skin" in the anime. The controversy was over all the franchise and not the anime itself, hence the change in the game sprites.
I'm still intrigued by what did xman1 mean, though. Probably a rumor based on the same fact.

You know, Meowth could almost be a Mario clone:
BUp- Pay day B- fake out (he pretends to throw fireballs, but nothing comes out) BSmash- iron tail BDown- Scratch (Mario tornado)
And with clone I mean, all his animations couuld be just like Mario´s

B: Pay Day Hold the button down to charge the coin and release the button to throw it farther and harder. Side B: Fury Swipes Meowth scratches in combos like Marth's Dancing Blade. Up B: Faint Attack Meowth quickly moves like Pikachu's Quick Attack, only Meowth leaves a purple trailing image of himself and the move is stronger than Pikachu's. Down B: Covet (Really Skitty's move but so what? It refers to Team Rocket's Meowth in the anime because Meowth likes to steal) If anyone attacks Meowth with a held item such as Hammer or Home Run Bat, he blocks the attack and steals the held item away from the opponent. Even if someone threw a Bob-omb or a Pokeball or even Peach's vegetables, Meowth can easily catch them without problems and not get hurt. It won't work on projectiles such as Super Scope's beams, Samus's charge shots, etc.

Well, Meowth is a normal Pokemon. There are really no special attacks he could do.
Think about it for a second. He would only have physical attacks. I've said this before, but that is just too boring for a SSB game. Pikachu is electric, Mewtwo is Psychic...
Then you have Jigglypuff though. She is boring, except for her rest attack.
I would rather have Lucario in, who is a fighting Pokemon. He also throws bones and could have elemental punch attacks.
They have enough representing the first generation. Meowth is out.

That's just silly... saying characters with physical attacks are boring.... what about Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, Marth, and Roy? Characters without projectiles add variety in the game where the majority use projectiles in one way or another. Oh, and just because Meowth is a normal Pokemon doesn't mean he can't have projectile moves - Pay Day IS a projectile move, you know. Funny you should say that... we have enough first generation Pokemon.... they said that after Melee came out but what did Sakurai do? He put in three more first generation Pokemon in Brawl! ;D I don't think one more would hurt. And really, the first-generation is the most popular and iconic of the series compared to the later generations. And Meowth is still a big part of Pokemon even to this generation. And I notice that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 has the following first generation Pokemon - Pikachu, Bulbasuar, Charmander, Squirtle, and Meowth - along with other generations starters plus Munchlax and Skitty. So I'd say Meowth is pretty important nowadays... and it helps that Meowth is the sixth most wanted Pokemon character in the Melee poll after Mewtwo, Mew (undoubtly he will be in the Pokeball again), Red (who is in Brawl as the Pokemon Trainer), random Pokemon grouped together, and Lugia (undoubtly he will be in the Pokeball again). Really, Meowth's biggest competition is Gardevoir because she's the only Pokemon suggested in the Brawl poll. And I believe that the only reason Lucario is insanely popular is because of that movie he starred in. That's all... the same reason Deoxys is insanely popular... and look what happened to him.

And we do have enough 1st gen now with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizrd. Sure, 1st gen was the best, but six characters from it are too many.

I won't argue that the Pokemon bias towards the first generation is quite high, and that limits Meowth's potential as a fighter. I'd be content with him in a Pokeball. Maybe I should go nuts and start rooting for his inclusion as a fighter, though...sounds like fun. Meowth for Brawl! And to just throw my ideas out there, here's my idea for a special list. Yes, this is a greedy pick for me, since Meowth is the only Pokemon I really got into. However, in terms of importance to the franchise, Meowth isn't too far from Pikachu or Mewtwo, and would be a solid choice for Brawl. Meowth would be very quick and agile, comboing moves with ease. His small size helps him sneak around the stage, ambushing opponents who are looking for the heavyweights. However, Meowth is light and easy to knock away. Meowth's jumping abilities are quite high, while his power is a little below average. Guitar Jam (B) - Meowth will grab a guitar and swing it in front of him, hitting foes with the strike. Meowth will play a 2 sec. riff afterwards. Meowth can also reflect projectiles if he times it well. Fury Swipes (Forward + B) - A slashing attack combo that, while quick and can do a lot of shield damage, isn't too powerful on the whole. For 5 hits, it does about 20% damage. Payday (Up + B) - Hops up and releases a few coins, then plummets. A decent counter move, but has somewhat short range for a leaping return. PickUp (Down + B) - Meowth will dig up a random item, which he will then be able to use. This would utilize the item list checklist to determine what he pulls out. If items are disabled, Meowth will still be able to get a random item. SMASH ICON - I think using Meowth's XD tutor move of Nightmare would be awesome. He lulls them to sleep with Sing, does 25% damage to everyone, and then everyone would have to rattle their analog sticks to wake up before Meowth does any more damage.

No.... oh, and Donkey Kong doesn't have any added effects at all. There goes your argument about non-physical attacks and added effects being requirements for a character's inclusion into Brawl. Yeah, it is too many, but so what? A lot of Pokemon in the other three generations are not that great nor iconic except for a select few... and three of these few Pokemon got into Brawl in Pokeballs.

If Meowth got in... would you guys prefer it if he spoke in his 4kids voice, or if he just said his name like other pokemon?
