Yeah, I'm getting pretty sick of it. All your posts are exactly the same and is starting to make me want to see Japan only characters less and less.

Enough Parrothead. We get it. You're a Japanophile and want nothing else. Now stop boring us to death with your monotone posting style and giant "ANDs" stuck 2/3 of the way through. Then what should I exactly talk about in this topic? Are any of you too lazy to read any of my posts? Not only I would like to see some Japan-Only Nintendo title representation, but I also would like to see some lesser-known (but good) Nintendo title representation (e.g. StarTropics 1 and 2, Stunt Race FX, Solar Striker, etc.). I perfer obscure, but good Nintendo titles, because one time, I tried to buy and play every game in the Mario, Zelda, Metroid and other large franchises in existance, but there are too many, while I've had enough and became bored of them. When I saw some lesser-known and some Japan-only representation in SSBM, I became curious the same way people became curious about X.

Question: Should we still count Marth as Japan only since Fire Emblem DS is coming out in North America? I know its not out yet but it is coming here.

There really isn't any variety in your posts, it's always about Stafy, Demille, Takamaru, etc. Maybe introduce some new Japan only characters to talk about?

Or maybe, you know, talk a bit more about the characters besides "There is a possibility that [character] will get in because [reason] AND [insert more characters and reasons]'. It gets obnoxious after a while, especially since you show barely any personality while doing it, Maybe try posting about something else in another topic.

parrothead1983 has made threads and threads in the past about a number of Japan-only Nintendo characters and possible movesets. I suspect if he doesn't mention them here, it's because they have no chances at being in Brawl.

Is that all that guy ever posts about? Being a one trick pony isn't exactly the way to go on a message board.

One-trick pony? May I remind you that 5 days, every week, Parrothead is on here posting the Smash update for you, regardless of how exciting or dull it is? He also supplied some very interesting cameos to the site (I will add 'em soon!) Plus, may I also remind you that he's this forum's moderator.
Parrothead. You know I support you on the Japanese/obscure character thing, possibly more than most would. I think all you need to do is perhaps not repeat yourself quite so often. Those of us who want Takamaru or whoever in Brawl are now just waiting for them to appear.
What's with all the hostility around here lately? Maybe the daily Dojo updates HAVE driven everyone crazy!

I do appreciate the updates, but I'll bet that if anyone else on here was posting them (especially you, Fry, or even Flip or somebody) were posting them, they'd give more colorful commentary. And yes, maybe I am going crazy, and just because of the long wait. My personal life is hectic and gets even more hectic around the holidays. [/offtopic]

When I saw some lesser-known and some Japan-only representation in SSBM, I became curious the same way people became curious about X. I think the problem stems from 1)The post kind of blend together. While their not always about the same thing, it will usually boil down to why X character a lot of people don't know much about is likely for Brawl 2)That you see only talk about obscured stuff. Fry said it best that it shouldn't be some kind of quota, and there needs to be balance. A few obscured or unknown characters here and there is nice. Game & Watch, IC and Marth added the roster fuller, and spread out the franchises. But you talk about DeMille, Starfy, Sukapon ect and games like For Frog the Bell tolls and what not. Part of it is that few people agree in why a character is likely or should be in. I mentioned before the problems with DeMille and Starfy. And also that while some people what unknown or lesser known characters, you seem to talk about them a lot. As dull as it sounds, so9me of us want Ridley, and Issac and Olimar. We know those characters because we have been able to play those games. How can we vouch for characters and games we've never played unless we got ROMs. It's not to be mean, but to give a reason. There is nothing wong with it (especially not in a topic about Japan-only characters) but some people are tired of hearing it, and it seems to be all you talk about. It's fine to vouch for other characters, but maybe not to the extent you seem to do it. It comes off that that you want them only, and feel other characters aren't as likely becuase they'll get the spot. This may not be the case, but that's the impression we get. I'm cool with it in this topic, but just remember that others may not care enough to learn why X game from Japan is going to be in Brawl.

Okay--stop. Please, everyone, just stop.
Parrothead's thriving in his passion, which is Japan-only content. For the amount of times I bring up Jet Set Radio or Falco, you guys never seem to jump on my back for it. I figure since Parrot not only goes much more in-depth than I do and also does much more for the board itself, and because we're a message board and not an empire, the man deserves to talk about the stuff he likes.
It's okay to disagree with what he's saying, but a lot of you are attacking him personally and that's really shocking and uncool. I whole-heartedly expect better from everyone here. Lay off, all of you. I'm serious.

Parrothead, forgive us? We don't mean to sound rude, but it seems to show that way Anyways, as I said earlier, you do have really good posts, it just seems a bit like you are repeating yourself constantly. I'm all for seeing maybe one Japanese character, but your posts don't show why they should be in smash...here's an example * Shin Onigashima (Because of it being the first and perhaps the most popular text adventure Nintendo title, as well as having Donbe & Hikari making cameo appearances in two Nintendo titles and a Donbe request being posted in Sakurai's SSBB poll) Okay, that's fine it's a popular text adventure, but why should the character be in the game? * Nazo no Murasame-jo (Because of it being popular in Japan and because of three Takamaru requests being mentioned in the poll three times.) Alright, it was mentioned three times...why? Why is it popular? A lot of us know nothing about these games. Why are they so popular in Japan? Why would the character make a good fighter? These are questions to think about when posting. Hope this helps.

Even though he was obscure before he appeared in SSBM, Mr. Game & Watch was added, not only to represent Nintendo's first handheld games, but also to firmly remember Gunpei Yokoi. As soon as Yokoi passed away, Nintendo and TOSE immediately developed the Game & Watch Gallery series. Another reason why is that Mr. Game & Watch was made of black, LCD-screen shadings, instead of pixels, polygons or a wire-frame. Marth was added, not only to represent a large, Japan-only franchise and because he was requested in the SSBM poll, but also because the most recent Fire Emblem title he appeared in (excluding the DS one) is the best-selling Fire Emblem title. I heard that over 800,000 copies of it were sold. There was even a Fire Emblem anime based on the first and third Fire Emblem titles, which the voice actor of Marth in the anime also did Marth's voice in SSBM. The more franchises / series (including those that are Japan-only and those that are lesser-known worldwide titles) represented in SSBB, the better. Major characters from minor Nintendo titles are greater than minor characters from major Nintendo titles (e.g. Mike Jones from StarTropics 1 and 2 is greater than the magic bean seller from Zelda: Ocarina of Time). The SSBM and SSBB polls were made to give Sakurai some interesting ideas. Every request seen in the SSBB poll are the most interesting requests in Sakurai's opinion. Some that weren't seen in the poll are probably requested more than some of the most interesting ones in Sakurai's opinion. Saki Amamiya is a good example, because Sakurai said there were many requests from users for Saki's inclusion, while he is pretty interesting. Other good examples are Sonic and Pokemon Trainer and his three Pokemon. This could mean that popular characters that weren't mentioned in the SSBB poll could still enter. Why DeMille? The setting, plot, characters (including DeMille), items and weapons in Tomato Adventure are very unusual. More unusual than in the MOTHER / EarthBound series. There are no swords, knights, dragons, magic spells, potions, Medieval-style castles nor anything else often found in most RPG titles. Two out of an unknown number of DeMille requests were mentioned in the SSBB poll, and better yet, they are veeerrrryyy long requests. So long, the people that requested him even told Sakurai on what moves and expressions DeMille can use in SSBB. One request even mentioned this Final Smash-esque attack from Tomato Adventure. If Sakurai wants another good character like no other, and if AlphaDream needs help, then the SSBB staff can add DeMille. However, AlphaDream is probably idle right now, because they haven't announced any new video game title since Mario & Luigi 2: Partners in Time. If the company stays like this too long, this probably will increase their chance at going out of business. And Stafy? When the first Stafy title sold well, Nintendo and TOSE decided to develop more Stafy games and merchandise, which they also became successful. Why are there so many Stafy titles and merchandise? Because people love the Stafy series. Just like what James Rolfe (a.k.a. Angry Video Game Nerd) said in one of his "You Know What's Bull%@#&" videos about the penguin movies, "Why's there so many? Because people love 'em." And while Sonic, Pokemon Trainer and his three Pokemon, Saki Amamiya and several other characters and things that weren't mentioned in the SSBB poll, Stafy is probably one of the most requested characters that wasn't mentioned in the poll. SamuraiPanda from the SmashBoards and the NSider forums translated the requests seen in the poll. Here is his Translation thread at SmashBoards. It's a very long thread.
