Sakurai hasn't outright stated that Meowth isn't playable either. Its just assumed. |

I thought of that after I posted that. BUT Meowth is a Pokeball Pokemon, not an Assist Trophy. So I win on a technicality.
EDIT: Total tangent here, but I went into the Pokeball page and Mewoth's page to make sure there was nothing I could see that could get me back on a technicality, and I noticed that on Meowth's page, they'd added "(Of course, you need to be able to read Japanese!)" to the line about checking the Japanese dojo for what Meowth's head gear is called.
...I feel sad that I noticed that straight away.
Now, back to me winning on a technicality. I'm great, aren't I?

Oh geez, about freakin' time. I was expecting him to have different specials, regardless if he replaced Ness or not. But, looks like Ness is gone. A shame. I'll miss that Baseball Bat.

Yes, I have a feeling that Ness is gonna be gone. I makes me sad because he was one of my favorite characters. On the other hand, at least I've got Lucas. Maybe I'll learn to like him as much.

Falcon will still probably be in. He was always the main characters. Even in the anime and their games, it was about Capt. Falcon. |

THE ONE THING representing the start of Starmen.net, the fact it was the one REACHED HERE... and the fact Mother 3 is never, NEVER coming over here....All of this leaves me in a pile of anger. Excuse me, I'm going to play as Ness in Onett against his precious Kirby and PSI Flash up the place. SMAAAAAAASH some ass. |

I still don't know why people refuse to accept it, Lucas is the logical evolution of Ness in Brawl (and before you say something, i´m a HUGE Earthbound fan, its my favorite game ever), Ness was never the poster boy of the MOTHER series (like Ash/red its for Pokémon and Marth its for Fire Emblem) he was just the protagonist of the last game from in that series, and that spot has now been taken by Lucas, after all Lucas its Ness in spirit not only in smash but in MOTHER 3. Now Lucas moveset not only reduces the chances of seeing a playable Ness, it also hurts the chances of a lot of MOTHER chars to be playable, let me expand this: - Kumatora/Paula/Ana.-Lucas is using their PK moves so I doubt they would be in. - Duster.- With Lucas having Rope snake, one of Duster trademark items, what are his chances. - Poo.- At this point he will only be in if he is a Lucas clone, but if there its one of those, I hope its Ness. - Ninten.-For the very same reasons of Ness - Loyd.-Lack of popular demand - Teddy.-same as above. At this point the only Mother characters with chances of being playable are: - Pokey (with spider Mech) unique character and a villian. Boney.-the second most predominant character in MOTHER 3 he would be a huge shock and his moves would be completely diferent to to anuone in brawl rigth now, also Boney complements Lucas batter than any other character (but I still really doubt it) Flint (hell yeah!)Right now Lucas its not using any of his moves so he still has chances, also he is the most well known MOTHER 3 Character thanks to he being playable in the first chapter. Claus (for spoilerific reasons) but he could just be a palette swap of Lucas Jeff .- Got lot of votes in Sakurai´s poll, but if Ness doesn't make it I doubt Jeff would be the only representative of MOTHER 3. Right now I will put my bets on MOTHER having only one representative, so F-zero fans, you are not alone  (unless we get clones which given the huge amounts of characters this game already has I wouldn't mind, so bring in the clones) |

I don't think there'll be any more characters from it in the game, but I do think it's getting about time they bring Earthbound itself to Europe. It's one of the biggest franchises that hasn't made it yet. Although I've got the USA version, I've never been able to play it, unfortunately. (I don't use emulators).
I guess I have to put my hope in a VC update for the time being.

You should have seen Smash Boards, some of them are saying they would rather Ness not be in Brawl at all than to see him as an AT because they don't want to see Ness going from a playable character to an insignificant item. And of course there are plenty of Ness fanboys who are in denial, saying Ness can still be playable with different moves or be same as before because Lucas would be the Luigified Ness.
